Simple replacement, but maybe the most important alarm to have in the RV. Always enjoy your no nonsense videos. I have recently started using Wago wire connectors....pretty handy!

Nice Job Lou, can you believe mine is installed right at kick plate below the kitchen sink. I think I inadvertently ‘kick’ test it a few times a month. Your Gas CO detector seem to be in the perfect spot. 👍🏼🇺🇸
Just waiting for mine to arrive. The current alarm was the original when the rig was built. So way overdue, although it never makes a peep. Yes it does have power and the test button works etc. Thanks for the tips, I did pull the old one out and it is butt connected. I'll switch it to those style caps you used. Thanks for a great video.

Does the red and black wire on the sensor go together and I habe a white and orange that. I have do they go together.

Oh crap..I had no idea the two were connected! My CO alarm wouldn’t stop alarming, a friend disconnect by cutting the line out of f frustration not seeing the screws for removal! Now fridge is dead! I need to fix it ASAP, but I’m unable to see from a sudden vision issue.
I guess that's the slimline model? Right? I like that style because it's mostly hidden. I'll need to cut out my thin rv wall to make it fit. My old MTI model 20-441 was not as wide and external mount on a mounting plate. Thank you, happy and safe RVing 😊
Yes it is designed to be recessed in a wall cutout.

I reinstalled a similar type of gas detector in my RV but it did not power on. There was no on-board fuse present as there is in your video. How do I troubleshoot if the unit does not power on? (I have already returned it to Amazon).
You would need to start by checking the wiring from the RV with a multimeter.
I do not have a fuse in my wiring . My wires are brown and white. What wires connect to which color? My son wanted to “help” and undid then before I seen what went where
You will need a multimeter to determine positive and negative.

That's exactly what I did. Just Removed fuse.
Hello, my lp/co monitor was manufactured in 2014, but the trailer I bought is a 2015 and I’ve had it for 2 years now. The battery power I have when not at a hookup site fluctuates due to how solar is being taken in as it’s wired straight into my (one) 12V battery. On multiple occasions the alarm has gone off after I go to bed when it’s dark out. The first time was concerning obviously I thought there was a leak somewhere, but no signs of one anywhere, no smell etc. opening all the windows and doors eventually got it to turn off which seems weird but it’s happened multiple times now which makes sleeping during camping stressful. Would you reckon it’s going off due to its age/something malfunctioning or not enough constant battery power? Thx!
The detector is long overdue for replacement if it is from 2014. I would replace it and go from there.

Hope this isn’t a dumb question, mine just started going off, so I order one to replace it. Do I have to disconnect the battery before install it?
Working with 12v can always cause a short if wires are crossed. It is best to remove the fuse or disconnect batteries when performing work.

Hi, they should be replaced every five years. They are supposed to beep but I have seen my share and seen many that are installed for years without ever beeping. Be safe and look at the date on the back. If it is near five years old I would replace it. Thank you for watching.
There are other models of the detector I'm replacing that are much cheaper. Can I use one of those or does it need to be the same?
There are several different brands that you can choose from. I would make sure it has same protection such as propane and carbon monoxide. Good luck.
Manual says to wait 10 minutes for unit to warm up before testing.

Here's MY problem. Everything you say makes sense, I ordered the exact proper replacement with two wires coming out the back....but when I tug on the existing old wires, I can't see any wire nuts, and there is almost no slack to pull on them. Frustrating.
Hi Bob, find the fuse in the power center box and remove it. You can now work on the old Detector. After removing old detector reinsert fuse to determine which wire is positive with multimeter. Remove fuse, make your connections, then reinsert fuse. This is provided you are comfortable with working on 12v. Good luck.
Why do I have to be in a county where finding RV parts is impossible and amazon takes too long. My fridge is dead and it’s 109 degrees! And I have a severe issue that developed with my vision! Grrrrrr!

You didn't say what colors go where. No help it all.
Colors are not always the same so telling you what colors go where may not be accurate. If there is a fuse that will be the hot or power wire. If there is no fuse you should use a multimeter to confirm.
I hate the one I have. Not the same as yours, but one for an RV. I have had two of them and get false alarms all the damn time. I swear, you breathe the wrong way... Beep! Beep! Beep! I will be throwing it out the window soon and replacing it with something else.
I don't know what brand you have but I have not experienced any problems with this brand and model.
