I plan on going to as many games as a I can for the rest of forever. This was an arena that the Islanders needed for decades. When the Lighthouse Project was rejected in 2011, it was a real possibility that the team was going to move to Kansas City. The Islanders actually played an exhibition game there in 2009. For my entire life until the arena opened, the Islanders either had a rickety home or no home at all. The Barclays Center was terrible, not built for hockey and the attendance there was even lower than it was at the coliseum.
