As far as I'm aware there were only two claims of supersonic dives pre Yeager, Hans Mutke in a me262 which is has been debunked as not possible in the 262, and George Welch who always denied it, no sources exist accept "a trust me bro we heard him do it"

To me Chuck Yeager and Paul Tibets were a lot alike. Both were Brigadier Generals and aviation legends.
Chuck Yeager, the "Prince" of my early 1980s-1990s youth.
Except for his EX Aircraft, I deticated my model building to his TestAircraft as a hobby.
I love to see old footage of stories I've only heard sitting around the campfire.
BG Yeager also recorded a PSA TV spot for the Civil Air Patrol, which offers to it's members an aerospace award named for him.
Read his autobiography so knew the conent of this, but really interesting to see the old photo and video footage.
