I think people read too much into poker player's behavior. Daniel literally admitts he was gonna raise there so he is giving up too much information there. So its Eric's fault for not listening. Daniel was being honest there and nobody is that elaborate to come up with that kind of lie right there. its eric who thinks Daniel lies and tries to intimidate Daniel by saying why just 19 lets make it 64 long before the ego stroking came into play. Eric made up his mind long before the convo. So basically Eric thought he had the best hand long before the talk. Daniel's conversation has literally no weight on how the hand was played.
respect in words maybe, in game he basically told negreanu the perfect play to get his whole stack with a weak top pair, respect would be if he folded.
@@bovinejangles uh wrong! He’s evolved with the game year to year. He’s hanging around playing with the best now as he was 20 years ago with different players playing with different skills/knowledge. He’s the best overall player in the game…
This is what I love about Daniel, his talk is so lighthearted and fun; but in reality every single word that comes out of his mouth during the pot is cold and calculated.
At this point, with how much Daniel worked on his game in the last 5 years, calling him the GOAT is not that crazy, the guy went into the lab to be able to compete with all these high stakes robots, while still keeping his big edge against amateurs by being socially or strategically exploitative. Switching between the two styles at will is VERY HARD and no one does it better than Negreanu right now.

I love watching Eric and Daniel play. Mutual respect, and it becomes a game between two friends. Obviously the money still matters, but they enjoy playing each other.
1:02 "You can still do that/it" ...I mean....no he can't ...because the raise to specifically $19k has already been done....D-Negs was going to make it about 20k if everyone else bet or called the 4k.
Persson is the worst player to every play high stakes. Daniel literally talks him into calling. I love Daniel's table talk in that hand. He wills him into calling like it's a Jedi mind trick.
Eric gotta be down 3-4 mil in total in these high stakes games at this point? Stack off with every top pair and flush draw. Bluff punts left and right. Props to him for having the roll to keep paying the pros bills.
One thing I'm learning is Eric is one of the new MASTERS at table talk, but let's be real here Daniel Negreanu invented the sport, he IS the KING of Kings....
Persson makes $$$ with his table talk and getting under people's skins. He chose a wrong opponent in Negreanu, who was always one of the very best at table talks.
1:57 - Daniel: 'That's why I got the beard - the wife told me to grow it'... I miss pre-wife Daniel. Still one of the best players representing the game.
If Daniel is willing to bump it up to 64 with only 100 in his stack AFTER Eric already bumped it up big, alarm bells should be going off in your head...not being able to fold top pair to a (generally) tight solid player will lose alot of money in the long-term.
They told each other they're holding Kings with their bet sizing. Choi told them he's holding nothing with his bet sizing, so they knew he was dropping out by that stage. So all of the conversation was around how they planned to continue. They were already talking about their hands at 0:30 so they were planning to run over the top of Choi regardless. These guys are playing a heads up match using the other player's money at the table. Two sharks feeding off the fish.
I'm not here to say that Persson is a great player (I think he's better than most people think but he's often against players considerably or significantly better), but I thoroughly enjoy him as a personality in poker and am glad he's here.
People think these guys play so well but 100k to Persson is like .005% of his money considering he is worth 500 million. Being aggressive is easy when you do not feel the pain of losing.
That was too notch talking by Daniel there. The wsop needs to change the u can’t talk during a hand rule like back in 2004 u can’t say as much these days it’s stupid
Daniel knows his customers, feeding Eric's ego with Hellmuth and 'his stature', absolute flawless talk.
Dude, "these are not the droids you are looking for!". He literally manipulates him into calling.

Eric is a different person when he plays with Daniel. Mutual level of respect there between them.

Yeah. Eric respects Daniel as a great player and Daniel Respects Eric as his personal ATM.
It’s because he knows daniel can run his mouth just as much, his technique is futile with him
Dnegs played Eric like a flute there. He knew exactly where he was at and what Eric had. Cool to watch.

I love the way persson’s tough guy persona just crumbles, when he’s around Daniel.🤣🤣❤️
He overplayed K10 by far.
Real maniac, this guy, Eric!
I get some serious satisfaction when Pearson gets owned in big pots

Daniel literally pulled a Pysop on Erick to convince him to call. Well played.
