Are there anything to do after writing ISO with rufus? Any file or something we need?
Thanks for the sub. No need for anything else
*Important Heads up:* USB thumb drives are not meant to be used like this. If you install an OS onto the drive with persistence you're going to kill your NAND Flash cells in the long run. I've already corrupted many USB thumb drives in the past because I didn't know any better when I was younger. Just buy an external HDD or SSD and install your OS there. They won't corrupt under these high I/O activity loads that persistent Live Installs pose.
You can use the USB on any computer? Also, you could still boot the computer normally, right?
Bro I use dell Inspiron 7567 , my partition is in GPT format , does the same method apply ?
The partition where you have your main OS installed has nothing to do with the USB key format. If your PC doesn't support legacy boot devices, then yes, choose GPT for the USB in Rufus and it should work
As usb drive have a limited read write speed!! does it will cause overheating of the usb??
The USB will definitely heat up but it will not overheat from my experience.
I have an HP, but the F9 command doesn't work. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
If I have a 240GB portable SSD, should I use ~200GBs of persistent partition size or the amount you showed - 10GB?
I assume your SSD is your internal HD. Kali will be installed on the USB key and not the SSD. What size is your USB key?
@@KnowledgeSharingTech The SSD is external, the size of it is 240GB. My internal drive is a HDD.
In this case, go ahead and give it a 100 GB.
@@KnowledgeSharingTech how do you get this on an external ssd if you can't format it as fat32
if metasploit tools should be downloaded in live run
after ejecting the usb
that tools should be saved or not ? or again re install
They will be saved to the persistent partition
I notice that you suggested everyone to have a small persistence partition less than 50% of the actual drive, why can't I just keep 4GB for the linux and keep the rest for persistence?
It is better to keep 8GB for the OS if your key has enough space
hmm I have a question why it doesn't work for 2021.2 release?
Help me please, my computer doesnt load from a flash drive. i have 7,7 gb flash and 1 gb persistence

when i select live usb persistence it shows some out put like yours and then blank screen. but if i choose live usb persistence encrypted then it boots up but does not save anything when i restart.
maybe u missed the step on adjusting persistence while booting on rufus
if i install tools that require storage it gonna be saved it will be presistent?
Yes.
Bro , do all the linux applications work in Live persistence. What are the advantage and disadvantages. If i use live persistence will it be enough to run all the linux apps. Using live persistence is it powerful as installing in a hard drive ? Help please : )
All the applications should run in Live persistence but it also depends on the size of the usb key. They won't run as fast as a local installation. A compromise if you don't want to dedicate a PC for this is to run it in a VM. Watch this video to see how: ruclips.net/video/pM8sdhLyi3g/видео.html

You have to keep it inserted while you use it and don't take it out before shutting down Kali
If I have a 32gb usb drive, how has to be the persistent partition size?

@Richardo łękołody卐 yes
My Status bar was green for halfway across the screen but was telling me it was at 100%. However all the boxes were greyed out so i could not do anything - other than Cancel the install - anyone else have a similar problem ?
I booted into kali without persistence successfully, but when shutdown, it emits a lot of SQUASHFS error, and won't shutdown. I force poweroff the machine. But kali only boot to initramfs when poweron again. What is happening possibly? Seems the contents in the usb drive is changed somehow.
It can be a multitude of things but most probably a USB corruption.
Didn't work for me with EndevourOS (an Arch basted distro).
I think it works on windows only
It’s throwing this error selected boot image did not authenticate plz help me out
Kali Linux Dosent show up in my boot selection on rufus help please
will 32bit version work on 64 bit computer?
Yes
@@KnowledgeSharingTech sir please help
when i select live usb persistence it shows some out put like yours and then blank screen. but if i choose live usb persistence encrypted then it boots up but does not save anything when i restart. i even tried 64 bit version but it didn't work
will all the tools and other packages will also work with this or not
All the tools in the live version will be installed. You can add other tools too
@@KnowledgeSharingTech thanks
can i install anyother software like python or any other.....
Of course
Does it permanently installs the OS or does I have to do something else to install it?
It installs the OS on the USB key. You don't have to do anything after that installation wise except update it from time to time
@@KnowledgeSharingTech So if I remove the pendrive while using Linux, will it stop?
@@shanu-9985 You'll get errors and yes it will hang
So Everytime I boot into usb I need to select the live persistence?? Can’t I just get to desktop/Login ??
You can change the config file to default to the boot you want
it can be run without effecting windows USB right
I am afraid I didn't understand your question
can i boot multiple os from a single usb
not install the os
run from the pendrive with presistence
Check this out: ruclips.net/video/nIZbbB91xNo/видео.html
Great video💗But how can I change the default password in kali linux live persistense
The default username is: kali and the default password is: kali . To change it open a terminal windows and type: sudo passwd kali
@David Sierra Where?
Hey thanks i wormed but wifi isnt showing up any fixes
Try with a USB WIFI dongle
@@KnowledgeSharingTech i dont have that is it necessary
You can hook the PC to a physical network
@@KnowledgeSharingTech yeah for now im connecting it with a lan cable but i need to connect it with wifi if you have any way because before when i was on windows i could connect to wifi
bro, if i have 16gb usb, what i should select in "Persistent partition size"?
i chose 4gb. I's OK?
Yes, 4GB will work. If you are planning on installing applications or having files more then 4GB then you have to choose more. 8GB would be good
@@KnowledgeSharingTech can i choose 16gb? :)
@@Hitori_FtoL no 4 gigs or so will be occupied by the os files
Hello,
I followed the same procedure. But when I am booting into kali getting error saying 'Invalid magic number. You have to load kernel first'. Can you please help.
Make sure you follow the exact options in Rufus as I made them starting 2:34
when I try to set up the usb it stays on "formatting: 100%" on rufus on the loading bar
Maybe your USB key has a problem
How much persistence should I make for a 128gb flash drive?
Up to 40GB
I have it 17gb
Gave
Is it okay?
@@peanutbutter291 Yes
After booting pendrive can we use it for normal file transfer
No, it should be dedicated for Kali
@@KnowledgeSharingTech if i am booting 64gb pen drive i have given 10 partition size what about the renaming gb broo its wastes noo
Yea, but i already have it downloaded on a usb, i just need to know how to make it so it saves my data, like when i make it root... reply please
You have to redo it like I showed in my video
@@KnowledgeSharingTech yea I did that, but if I unplug the USB it goes away
Does this in any way affect the windows 10 on my laptop??
No it doesn't
@@KnowledgeSharingTech okay thank you
@@KnowledgeSharingTech and in live boot it doesn't store any data I think, I mean if I reboot, it will start as fresh...
@@lazysaitama Not if you follow the instructions in my video because I show you how to create a persistent partition
I dont get wifi conections showing and I cant edit any files "failed to save file, permision dinied "... What shoul I do????
For WIFI, you can try an external USB WIFI dongle. Here's one that works amzn.to/3kYOnbh .
For the file permission denied, make sure you are following the instructions when choosing the persistent partition size
[SOLVED WITH SOLUTION] hello, can i only use a USB or maybe an external HDD? because in Rufus i can't see the HDD i'm using..
In rufus, only USB
@@KnowledgeSharingTech thanks, i already resolved:
you just have to go in "advanced unity options" or how it's named, it's just below the partition scheme menu, then you have to tick the first option.
mine kali Linux image says it will download in 4 days I have 50 Mbps internet speed
if i have 8go on my USB key ?
4GB for the persistent partition
@@KnowledgeSharingTech yeh thanks i tried this and it's work
kali linux ieasyly installed but nothing can show on kali menu help me to solve
Maybe your USB is very slow, give it time or change it to a 3.0 one and make sure you insert it in a 3.0 port
I have probleme whene i make upgrade systeme A black screen appears and the update phase is not finished, and the Kali system will completely stop working
It might be that your persistent partition is not large enough or that you have a problem with the USB key
@@KnowledgeSharingTech I have USB64G
Will the persistence override windows?
Of course not. The persistence is only on the USB key
So In my usb it shows two partitions already. And if opened persistence it will store the data in the second partition right?
My computer cant connect to wi fi, only ethernet, how i fix that?
You can get an external WIFI dongle if your internal card isn't recognized like this one: amzn.to/35RVfBS
Bro after booting kali from usb my keyboard and touchpad not working, tell me solution.
Sorry to hear that, try an external keyboard + mouse if you have them then fully update kali. Then try again without the external keyb + mouse
@@KnowledgeSharingTech bro now again I connected usb to my laptop and boot kali linux live after sometime as I went to reboot the system and remove the usb at that time my laptop screen got black and doesn't showing anything. i am using 32gb Pendrive
My pc live persistence option not working plz help me
Please give me more details to be able to help you
does it delete windows 10 ??? how do i revert to windows 10 ?
It doesn't delete Windows 10 because you are installing Kali on the USB key. Simply unplug the USB key and restart your PC to start Windows 10
@@KnowledgeSharingTech thanks !!!!!!
Sir how to go back from kali to windows
Remove the USB stick and restart the pc
i dont see a persistent slider on rufus
Did you download the Live version of Kali? It appears only after you select the Kali Iso. One last thing, what is the volume of the USB drive you are using?
whats persistence?
Means your changes and files won`t be lost after restart

This is my first time dealing with linux. Does persistence basically save the data that you do automatically? Also, how would I get back to windows once i'm done on linux? Great video
Thanks for watching. Persistence will save the data and settings automatically. To go back to Windows, shut down the PC, remove the USB key and turn it on, it will start from the internal Hard Drive
Not working for me :( I don't know why but It can't save me anything
When you start Kali, choose the option "Live with persistence"

Can also be your USB drive being corrupt.
