Skagway Train & Hikes! | 7-Night Disney Alaska Wonder Cruise Vlog 5 | 25th Disney Cruise Line 2023

- Join us as we visit Skagway during our 7-night cruise aboard the Disney Wonder out of Vancouver, CA to the South Sawyer Glacier, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan, Alaska!
It's time for our first official port in Alaska: Skagway! We don't waste any time heading off the ship to begin exploring Skagway and wandering through the town's souvenir shops, coffee shops, and more as we wait for our first port adventure: the White Pass Scenic Railway - Adult Only Departure (SW66). Just before boarding the train, we do scope out the hike locations so that we know where to go after we get back from our train adventure.
Then, it's finally time for the port adventure! While the trip starts out well, that all goes downhill quickly with some unexpected issues. Back in town, it's time for some hiking! We set off for both the Smuggler's Cove and Yakutania Point hikes, during which we hear an unexpected visitor in the water! After some amazing sights, it's time to head back to the ship as we depart Skagway and set off for the next port. Cheyenne heads down to dinner at Animator's Palate for animation night while Cody decides to explore the ship for some more beautiful sights. Then up to our stateroom to wind down and get ready for an early day tomorrow!

Have really enjoyed all of your cruise videos! It looks like you guys sailed 2 cruises before my wife and I, as we sailed to Alaska from 5/29-6/5 last year for our first cruise ever! We had been talking about taking an Alaskan cruise for several years, and after a lot of research and watching a lot of vlogs, we finally decided to take this Disney cruise. It was cool that you shouted out @ThemeParkExpress because Adrian's videos of his 1st Alaska cruise were really a major factor in what made us book it. We were also super stoked to meet Adrian and Koda at Canada Place, as they were on the sailing right after us! We had a packed day in Skagway - we did the White Pass Railway in the morning, shopped and had lunch in town, hiked to Yakutania Point, and did the glacier dog sledding in the afternoon as well! We loved Skagway and all of Alaska and want to go again! We're sailing on the Wonder again from San Diego on 4/14 to Catalina Island and Ensenada for our 30th Anniversary! Keep up the great work with the videos...oh, and bonus points for the Totoro sweater! (My wife is Japanese and it was the first Miyazaki film I saw. 😊) ❤

Princess Cruises horn blows the theme song from "The Love Boat" (tv show from 70s and 80s), some MSC cruise ships blow "We Will Rock You" and "Seven Nations Army" on their horns. That absolutely was a Princess ship you heard.

Bummer about the train but so cool that you guys keep seeing whales. Whales are my favorite 🐳. When I was in Skagway in…2011? It was so windy!! But I loved going in all the shops. Love all the videos, and love your Totoro sweater :)

And we couldn't believe how lucky we got with all the whales this trip, we were trying not to get our hopes up beforehand since we've heard there are cruises where people don't see any!

Yup, that's one of the older shows we don't know 😅 had it been Gilligan's Island, it'd be a different story (though we suppose a cruise ship might not want to have that as their horn 😂)

It's funny you mentioned Adrian and Theme Park Express because his train broke down as well! Wonder if that unfortunately is a regular occurrence on that train?
We couldn't believe our luck that the same thing happened to us! We're glad Adrian at least got to make the full trip though. Hopefully the next time we attempt it, we'll make it all the way around!

We're so glad our videos have been helpful! We traveled in May of 2023 and couldn't believe we got such good weather for the most part. At least with September cruises, you have the best chance of seeing the northern lights then compared to May-Aug (or so we've heard!)

their trains are always breaking down. there was a break down when i was on last year and they crammed everyone from the broken train onto our train and it was horrible. i've seen other videos since that show people vlogging the experience of breaking down on the train. They need to do something that's more strategic in addressing the on-going problem.
So sorry to hear about your experience! It definitely seems like they've got an ongoing issue (granted, maybe that's just the way it is with that kind of machinery? We're not experts, so we wouldn't know 😂)

Cody had quite the answer for this one! To sum it up: Bigfoot would try to first avoid a fight if possible, but if absolutely necessary, then Bigfoot would definitely win 😂
