Fantastic video Josh. Great meeting you and the wife. It was awesome shooting together and sharing moments that we'll remember and cherish for the rest of our lives. You certainly know who to put it all together into a compelling and enjoyable video!
awesome video Josh, and good to see you hangin out with Louis.. amazing photographer that guy.. i know Louis on IG, and i'm a lil salty because i'm still waiting for my Z9 while you guys already enjoying yours. :-(
Love it Louis "We love Nikon, We buy Nikon, but what we expect Nikon to do is produce a product that's going to be worth our investment". No truer words were said except for "The Z9 is a beast" Tally ho!
Dear Josh, I just hit subscribe to your channel after watching my first video( this one). Your voice over and the real time footage you rendered is state of the art. I wish you get your z9 soon and do many many more videos to entertain us. Good Luck. Stay safe!
The mysterious algorithm just introduced us to your channel, while watching a video on NYC street photography. Interesting how that works. I am your newest subscriber; glad to make your acquaintance! Enjoy your new Z9! (We use hers-and-his D850 cameras, plus D5/D4s/Z6 etc…)
I think what I love about your videos is you speak to your audience in a way that most of us get, that is, honest real world examples of an ordinary bloke sharing his passion, it strikes a chord with me. So thank you very much Bayou Josh for inspiring not only myself but your other followers and those that have yet to meet you👍
im down with the wing it Josh. of course im gonna bleed everything I can from the Steve Perrys and the like but when im out shooting im a bayou Josh kinda guy just like I am when I wanna relax with some RUclips and enjoy the journey cos the road is always better than the destination. you got some great Images with that there stolen camera..😂
I will be watching Steve Perry as well. that guy is a pro. I am certainly just winging it. Having a blast though and really enjoying the company. Thanks as always Peter.
No, it won't make your images better. You, and the time you spend on the field, will make your images better, my friend, you know that better than anyone. Another soulful video!
You got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats my brotha. You deserve it. You always continue to make great content and will no doubt WOW us with even more!
I look forward to your Z9 comments. Mine is in route to me from the camera store in VA. A fun, happy story that is to far off topic to go into here. But I’ll be learning the Z9 in the coming weeks. This video like so many of yours is very entertaining. And like all of your work, beautifully photographed .
Josh this was a super video! 5 star content! The best part IMHO is the love shared for photography and honesty about your shoot plus the perspective by Louis. Louis is indeed a good friend and the type you want to keep on the high shelf in life because they will never let you down and hopefully we can return favors to our good friends like that. Cheers to you, your gal, Louis, Nikon shooters and Nikon! Happy New Year and be safe.
I can so identify with your plight with the Z9. Ordered my Z9 the morning of the announcement and was hoping it would arrive before my trip to the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge in Sanibel FL on Jan 20. But alas it did not arrive and I muddled along with my old D850/500 combo and really got some great images even though I could have greatly benefitted from the WYSIWYG viewfinder and especially the 20fps. And yes you guessed it the day I returned from my trip I got the ship notification that my Z9 would be arriving the next day. Love your storytelling, will be interested to see more in the future.
Another wonderful photo experience you're sharing with us, Bayou, thanks. You took me on a trip with the nice scenic and wildlife retreat. The ducks pictures were amazing to me. Your Z9 + 600mm f4 combo will be your killer setup. I'm sure there'll be some great photography to follow in the next little while. Again, thanks for the narration all along, just very enjoying.
Always enjoy your videos. One of my favorite aspects of your video’s is the the voice over narration and storytelling. You definitely have a knack for it. Keep up the great work and as always, thanks for the content.
Lovely shots of the pintails! Iin the end it´s all about getting out there exploring, experience nature and being present no matter if you have a top of the line equipment or not, but the z9 do look tempting thou!
Nice one, I'm delighted for you that your own Z9 finally arrived and look forward to seeing you get used to a whole new bunch of settings and results. My Sony 600f4 finally arrived last week too, oh I know that frustration of waiting, then the buzz when your new bit of quite expensive equipment eventually arrives. As for that overcast and cloudy day, welcome to England U.K. this is our most common weather. Keep 'em coming, Josh. I look forward to your new ventures, Regards, Mark.
What a great video and so different to the usual y tube stuff it nice to know that it’s not all about being great at photography,it’s about the fresh air ,the experience and hopefully some great pictures 😊👍
You are 100% correct about enjoying the hobby, meeting new friends and having those experiences. It is not just about the gear. Looks like Bosque was dry and cold. Thanks
Josh, thanks for sharing a very important lesson of life with us. It's not the destination, it's the trip, experience, and whom we choose as our time traveling buddies that makes it all worthwhile. Looked like fun.
Great video Josh. You are correct, this hobby is so much better whem shared with friends. The Z9 is an absolute wonderful camera. I am loving mine. Looking forward to more of you struggles,…. I mean videos.
Great video! My Z9 arrived 2 days ago, and I couldn't be happier with it. Spent yesterday morning photographing birds and animals at home and was shocked by how well so many of my photos and videos turned out. The camera is every bit as great as I'd hoped it would be.
My Z9 arrived 3 hours ago from B&H, here in Northampton Massachusetts. Just in time to take fast action shots of the Cyclone Bomb ready to start later this evening. Looking forward to learning about the Z9 right along with the you. Our local wildlife preserve, Arcadia, offers several varieties of hawks, a couple of nesting Eagles, ducks galore and countless smaller birds on which to test the prowess of this beast. Looking forward to your future videos.
Great video and another beautiful location! You will enjoy the Z9. I got mine already and it's great. Now it's time to improve myself and get to different locations. Whatever gear comes out - the Z9 should do it for me for several years to come. Looking forward to your next videos using the new camera!
Nice job telling the story. Love your channel. Enjoy the Z9, I'm sure it's all it's cracked up to be and more. For now, I'll stay in the D850 ranks as I'm still loving it!
Josh, thank you for a wonderful story. i use to hike long trails. got to a conclusion its not the way, its the people u meet along. so, it was great to meet u. wish u luck in your journey. its not the gear, its the person behind it. keep on trying, learn, go out, improve. o, and btw- speed 1000 and above, f9 and above, auto iso and in this backlight on white birds say +1 compensation... as gordon Ramsey once said, "keep this recipe". good luck!
Glad your Z9 arrived and am looking forward to some samples, which will be as good or better than some in this video. A bit envious, of course, but at least you post frequently, so bring it on, when you are comfortable.
Hey, just found your channel. Love it. I gotta tell ya, that style you have with the narration really works for me. Reminds me of one of those nature shows you’d see on PBS back in the day - and that’s a good thing (for me anyway)
I love the storytelling aspect of your videos. Great video. Highlighting the faults and positives 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾. Waiting months for a camera that I spent good money on?? I can’t I don’t know how you do it! 😂😂
Got mine a couple weeks ago. There is surprisingly a fairly significant learning curve...even for a 20 year Nikon guy. I believe I now truly trust AF-C for the first time ever and was blown away how easily it just locked on to an eye and didn't let go. Look forward to seeing what you get with it. Keep up the great work!.
Well congrats for the purchase of Z9 and hope you get it and ready for the next trip Bayou, Still also waiting for mine and it feels forever to get my hand on it
That was really nice of Louis to let you use his camera for the morning. Beautiful photography there Josh. I especially liked the pintail images. Pintails and Wood Ducks are my 2 favorite waterfowl. One universal truth about technology (coming from a guy who spent most of his 36 year career in the IT industry) is that no matter what tech you buy today, in 2 years something faster, better, more powerful will come along. That Z9 should be producing beautiful images years from now just like it does today even though the next iteration will have more features and "better" technology. Things were so much simpler with my Nikon FE2 35mm film camera. The only thing a photographer had to worry about was exposure and composition. I thought the center weighted metering and aperture priority setting was the "cat's meow". I'm really looking forward to your experiences with the Z9. It's always good to see this from a photographer who shoots similar subjects under similar conditions as I do.
I loved the little bits where we saw a "Josh" in his natural habitat 😉 Amazing pictures and footage as always! I'm jealous of the amount of wildlife you got to see!
Nicely done Josh. You are a great story teller, and that is of much greater value than someone who simply reviews technical details. And I too am capable making "average images" with good equipment. I do it all the time! Take care.
The best bald eagle photos I've ever taken were with the Z9, 600/4, and 2xTC. The only advice I can offer is to spend considerable time researching the menus - which are much different from the Z6ii/Z7ii. Bottom line is, there is no right or wrong configuration - but it's important to re-think some old paradigms.
Always fun to tag along on your photo ops. Your storytelling is what drew me into your channel initially and is what keeps me coming back for the next episode. I really wanted to move from the D500 to the Z9, but that will have to wait a few years. When I retire next February i will take stock and see if it is in the cards.
I received my Z9 on Christmas Eve and I love it. I've watched a few RUclipsrs struggling with capturing video content complaining as they go, not realizing that they'e settings were completely FUBARed; incorrect Autofocusing Mode, incorrect subject detection, etc. You actually have to be smarter that the camera to maximize its potential. Good luck and congratulations!
Congratulations Josh on finally getting your Z9! I can’t wait to see your up coming videos. My Z9 is in the mail… it seems like it’s been a much longer wait than it actually was.
The sandhill cranes are amazing! Where's your Z9 ???? Agreed, there will always be something better around the corner, Fingers crossed for Nikon to keep things smooth.
Fantastic video Josh. Great meeting you and the wife. It was awesome shooting together and sharing moments that we'll remember and cherish for the rest of our lives. You certainly know who to put it all together into a compelling and enjoyable video!
Louis, that was an absolutely magical experience and you are a dear friend. I can’t wait to spend more time together.
awesome video Josh, and good to see you hangin out with Louis.. amazing photographer that guy.. i know Louis on IG, and i'm a lil salty because i'm still waiting for my Z9 while you guys already enjoying yours. :-(

Oh what a beautiful place and very nice video.
