  • You’ve just under £40k to spend on a used sports car. What do you go for… Porsche 911? Toyota Supra? How about a Jaguar F-Type V6 S? This brawny British two-door is one of the prettiest, best-sounding and nicest-handling cars of any class. For under £40,000, it feels like tremendous value for money - and you’re not forced to buy an older, higher miles car, either. Not on cinch, anyway...
    Does that make the F-Type V6 S the thinking person’s way into a life of excitement and pizzazz? Sam certainly thinks so; as you might gather from watching our first ever Vlog review.

    I got my V6 S a month ago. And I very much enjoy the f type. The sound, the looks, the drive. Everything about it is art. I feel special on the road surrounded by a sea of many other predictable cars.

      I’m teetering on the verge of buying one, am a little confused with the road tax though, on autotrader some are quoted to have road tax of £355, then others are £155 or there abouts but it doesn’t say why the difference. Do you know?

    I last summer picked up a V6S CONVERTIBLE with a brilliant spec...replaced my 911 c4s(996). This drives very much like that as a heavy steering and very sharp responses. The exhaust note makes me smile all day :-)

      I have a 2016 3.0S manual on the way, hope to have it in a week or so. It's a roll of the dice getting a car without actually seeing it but buying a car such as these is an emotional thing, sometimes you have to just go for it. Many say get the V8 but I wanted the manual transmission and 380HP is plenty for where I live.

      @Paul Hitchens looks like its half asleep. I deliberately went for a late 18 with ultra low mileage than a high mileage 20 plate. You can still do PCP on an 18 if you look around. Financed an R Dynamic 340 with around 6k of extra's including active exhaust, parking assist, black pack, bigger brakes, fixed wing, 20" alloys for £230 a month for 30 months and 14k deposit. Just 20k miles on the clock. My thinking I will loose the interest alone and still have 8k left in the car once the terms up.

    These really are great cars, I've owned a V6S as my daily for the past 12 months. Even one of the early examples at £30-35k can provide that special connection with Jaguar's sports car heritage in a modern package with all the fun you need. Do your research, decide which options are important for you, and find the car to suit, you will be glad that you did. I've driven most of the competition at this price point (including Porsches and Maseratis) and whilst each has its particular strengths, I'm still pleased I opted for my F-Type V6S, it ticks all the boxes and puts a smile on my face every time I climb aboard. Well done Jaguar, and thank you.

      I'm looking at one to daily as well. Is it possible to ride away early in the morning without waking up the neighbours? I love the sound but is quietness also possible when you drive carefully and w/ exhaust button off? I'm trying to be considerate since I live in a crowded area

      @@davidgelderblom5888 I have a 2015 V6S and the start-up is pretty loud…there’s no quiet option! It’s not ‘wake everyone up in the street’ loud, but it sure isn’t subtle, either. There’s a bit of a trick though: immediately shift the car into drive or reverse and it quietens down straight away.
      Driving around, on the other hand, you can be very quiet. As long as the exhaust valves are closed (which they are by default in normal mode), the car doesn’t make much noise. Valves open or in dynamic mode on the other hand…!

    The V8 is next level. The V6 is a great car, but it’s never going to get into the 2s. The V6 uses the same block as the V8, so the weight difference is only 180 lbs. in fact the RWD V8s are lighter than the AWD V6s.

    • @revolt360

      Is it really worth the premium of mpg, tax and ins over the V6 S? Not to mention the depreciation due to rising fuel costs over 2 years of ownership. Curious as I plan to buy a f-type next spring after my V8 M3.

    • @jgtemperton
      @jgtemperton Год назад +2

      @@revolt360 I agree. I've just swapped my M4 comp (18 plate) for a V6 340 Dynamic (18 plate). The look and feel of both cars is night and day. You just can't drive a car like the M4 on British roads. Yes its bloody quick, but every time you put your foot down in M mode it just looses control. The F Type, feels more composed, gets more attention (silver with black pack and 20 inch black wheels). And the sound. My God, the BM was awful. The F Type V6 is glorious! Do I miss the extra second to 62? Nope. Definitely not. And as you say, unlike the V8, the insurance and tax is half the BM and the V8 and I'm averaging 30ish to the gallon on my daily commute.

    • @hyper_channel
      @hyper_channel Год назад

      Yeah I own one I don't think it's a super fast car on straight line, it's more or less what would you expect around 340hp or so.
      But their strong point is slower winding roads, the engine note plus it being not so brutally fast means that you can get to push it a bit without going instantly beyond what you can control (which happens easily with the V8 for example).
      If you want to be really quick straight line or race other cars yeah, not the best the v6.

    • @jgtemperton
      @jgtemperton Год назад +3

      Strange. I got really bored of my M4 which sounded like a wet fart and just squirmed about all over the place. Its like driving a go kart compared to the V6 F Type. No precision or class at all.
