- In this video, the gating systems used in metal casting processes have been discussed very easily with the help of simple animation.
The video starts with a short explanation of what is a gating system and why we need a gating system. Then it proceeds on to discuss different parts of gating system in details:
i) Pouring cup
ii) Sprue
iii) Sprue well
iv) Runner
v) Ingates
vi) Risers

Very comprehensive yet easy to understand video. Thanks!
Excellent explanation. Learned a few new things I didn't hear somewhere else before.
Great presentation, thank you for such a clean and efficient explanation.
Very well explained, great video.
Excellent explanation. Thanks for posting this!
Very well explained, thank you, I am currently trying to learn about this 👍
Your video is really easy to understand,,, thank you so muchhhhhhhhhhh❤️
Your videos have been a great help and are easy to understand many thanks. I am trying to cast a solid slug of aluminum 90mm in diameter and 110mm long but not having much success I would love to see how you would go about this.
Great video
Superb explanation sir👌👍
Very super explaining 👌.
nice presentation
Your videos are very easy to understand and am very appreciative, please am having issues trying to cast a white cast plate but am always getting a warped casting.pls can you help out with a video.
thanks for vidio
Very nice video sir, thank you very much. I have some questions, I would be grateful, if you could help me.
1.) I am looking for a definition to name the crude casting (involving all the gating elements and the cast part itself). I mean the casting+rigging. We call that "bunch" in my native language, however, I couldn't find the correct word in English. Is there any particular definition?
2.) I am trying to make an excel table, where I have limited space in the cells, therefore I have to use the shortest (and correct) phrases and words. I want to speak about the molten metal weight in the ladle, can I say "ladle melt weight"?
Thanks
Please make videos on what type of tool holder are used in milling machine.
Thank you I have a problem when I pour it dies not fill the part in full when I use a smaller flask it does work and the part is ok. May I please ask bigger flasks a video of how to go from a smaller flask to a larger one the learning curve. Thank you this video helped me. So thank full
Excellent explanation, thank you. However you do not mention ventilation holes. In your diagram the metal fills the mould cavity from below which would pressurise the air above. Is it assumed that this air will vent through the packed sand? Sorry if this obvious to everyone else but I’m a real beginner here!
You are right! Vent holes are usually provided to allow the hot gases to flow out easily. Though some portion of the gases flow out through the sand particles, but additional vent holes are also required. Infact improper ventilation causes many defects in the casting
Can you make videos on how to use gd&t practically with ex.?
Do you mean geometric dimensioning and tolerancing?
@@mechvidya8881 yes
Thanks for your response. Will make it in future.. now actually we are creating series of videos on manufacturing process..
🥰🥰
thank you so much for explaining so deeply..👏👏(❁´◡`❁)
And if you can't and planning after few months then please complete complete syllabus on mould.
Thanks for your response Abhishek. Will definitely upload some more videos on mold
How to avoid blowholes in aluminium casting
There are multiple reasons behind formation of blowholes...most prominent factors are improper ventilation and faulty gating system. So check if these two parameters are okay. Also any source of gas entrapment can cause blowholes.
