I have this injury, I had surgery, took 6 months with a neck brace. Have three herniations in my neck, three in my mid and two in the L-spine. I feel for you Dave. I fell at work, so it's not from head banging. Glad you came out for the show because I came to see Megadeth for the 20th time. Thanks Dave.
I liked this before i even began watching it. Dave has become such a good man. God his wife is so freaking blessed; she doesn't even like metal😊 ..I'm sure he finds that appealing & very loveable❤ ..a wife who isnt a "fan". He has enuf fans! Anyway, I can't get over how cool this man is... artist, husband, father of thrash and two awesome grown up kids, born again Christian. Im 40 & grew up punk. I knew about Metallica & Megadeth, but didn't buy their music when they were "big". In my 30s i grew a love for classical. Now im growing a love for metal/thrash, starting w Iron Maiden, now im onto Megadeth & especially Mustaine. Being kinda new to this genre, as an adult and being objective, Megadeth and Dave are *much, much better* than Metallica. It was fate things happened the way they did; after reading the way Metallica did him, i understand Dave's deep hurt, bitterness, even resentment. But had that not happened, the world would've been denied Megadeth. I can't imagine a world without this band. The lyrics & style are just *superior* to Metallica. That's my unsolicited opinion, and I had to put it out there. Much respect Mr. Mustaine!
In addition, the best stuff I heard from Metallica were Dave's ideas. Oh, not to mention the Misfits ripoffs for filler. I love Megadeth's rendering of the Pistols' "Anarchy.."(I actually had the pleasure to hear it live here in Iowa in summer 1999. I really wish there was footage of that show. I didn't want to be there, someone invited me, and i got really drunk. I do remember the best part was the close of the show w "Anarchy"!). I think I've made my point.👊
Gotta respect Dave for that. Giving the fans what they came and spent hard earned money on. He understands what fans want. I'd do the same exact thing. Broken bones, life threatening situations, whatever, I'd show up to a gig.
God damn, Dave is such a trooper he has been through so much and no matter what fucking pain he is in he will still go out and make fans happy Mustaine=God
Geez people, no need to bash him for being religious. That same religiousness is the reason he's alive now, yes therapy and all that saved his ass when he overdosed, but his religion gave him the willpower to continue drug free.
@manoliono Haha every time there's an interview with Megadeth it's Dave talking the whole time with the other band member(s) sitting and nodding quietly.
Totally random, but the sound of that snare in the beginning of the video is sick. Even through my phone speaker it just is right in that sweet spot. 🤘🏼🔥
I'm pretty sure that many frontmans out there would have stopped playing with all Mustaine's health problems.. Mustaine besides being a LEGEND AND BEST FRONTMAN EVER, 51 years old and some health problems unfortunately, still metal up our asses
First line of peace sells: What do you mean I don't belive in god? I talk to him everyday. Dave has always belived in god, but he's just a christain now. Know your shit before spealing please :)
Listen to the interview again, not once did he say God was going to save him. He said that god helped him get to this point and that he had faith that he wasn't gonna have anything bad happen to him if he did the show.
The quality of the video in the beginning T_T comon rolling stone or someone and just release the damn concert! w.e it was amazing being there!! Megadeth kicked our asses.
@TheAnimalhouse96744 That's definitely true about Tom, at the big 4 concert he nailed the scream in the beginning of Angel of Death, sounded just like the album!
Now that on his facebook page he stated that He'd just written the first riff of 14", I think there will be another album lol. I was seriously worried that there would be no more Megadeth though
Every time i hear this guy talk I like him even more. What a vigorous young go-getter....even with the white beard stubble...makes him look grizzled like he's about to go chop down trees
Lets hope that this means his vocals will be alot better now that he is getting the surgery. Tom Araya had the same problem, and now he is alot better at vocals. Lets hope dave can sound like he did atleast from the countdown to extinction. Lets hope we can als ohave a Peace Sells Tour. That would rock!!!!
@gojirason to be fair, lulu isn't technichally a metallica album, but a lou reed album featuring metallica. reed probably thought getting one of the best bands of all time on one of his records would boost his popularity, but it didn't, and st. anger is EPIC. a couple of my favorite metallica songs are on that album.
I was at the show and he was like yea I just had surgery, at the time I was kinda drunk and like yea whatever, didn't know it was this serious though. Glad he sucked it up and played the show.
@bomber191 I couldn't tell, and I also misheard and thought his surgery was scheduled the /next/ day. In retrospect he did look kind of "tired" though. Didn't really hinder his performance in the least though- he didn't show it...
@SuperFatMan610 Yeah I have been keeping touch with the big 4 ans when I finally got to see a fuul set on the bands, I think it was Gothenburg, and Tom sound really good. He doesn't look like he is struggling with the songs. I hope the Dave can sound as good as Tom.
@megadeth9000 I think he'll be fine, if he pulled through when he messed up nerves in his left arm, he'll be fine after neck surgery, they are going to take a break while he recovers though
Dave, one of my few Heroes in this world. Peyton Manning is recovering from the same injury as i watch this. He's not due back to play until December. Good luck and God speed my friend!!! & Alex Jones says hey, and wants you on his show soon to talk about ENDING THE FEDERAL RESERVE!!!
@megadeth9000 Its kinda simlar, tom was having back issues because he had some pinched disks in his upper back and neck area....Dave's injury is pretty similar, they both have been very prolific headbangers through out the years so the damage to their spine and neck was going to happen eventually...Dave probably wont be able to headbang after the surgery
@vlmmosto aha but I have a shitty old keyboard with letters that are completely fucked up, whereas you have an up to date brand new keyboard to fit your trolling needs ;)
hello! no one said Dave was not going to get his issues treated by a physician. Just making an affirmation that above all we can all live better lives when we trust in god . its about faith and commitment. Faith need not be blind in fact faith and allowing god to lead can and does help people find ways away from darkness and suffering.
@vlmmosto I know what album a tout le monde is on, but you stated youthanasia as one of megadeths "crappier "albums at the very start so I can fit it in my comment. Also consider the fact that Dave was getting on a bit back then, so maybe he wanted to disband megadeth because he wanted a rest. Thankfully, after one night live he changed his mind and released 3 gret albums afterwards.
Have you ever stop and thought that maybe the "Magical Sky Daddy" helped the doctor acheive those skills? And that He is behind the science in this world? You shouldn't making fun of other people's way of life, and should be finding ways to accept that there are or even compromise.
Ever thought of the "Invisible Man" creating the science in Earth? How does the world just natrually develop? We are used to the way it works, so it doesn't seem impossible. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you're wrong, but at least some of us have the decency to accept others beliefs.
been there Dave.....spinal stenosis and bone spurs. My whole neck is fused after breaking it twice. Sux getting old. I as well have numbness in my fretting hand. Depends on the weather and stupidity(testosterone!!!!!). it doesn't get any better either, only worse.Let there be rock!!!!!!!!
Dave mustaine is a hero to risk his health for the concert, and please the fans is my idol good luck dave.
Herniated discs and bone spurs from headbanging... That's metal
I have this injury, I had surgery, took 6 months with a neck brace. Have three herniations in my neck, three in my mid and two in the L-spine. I feel for you Dave. Shawn makes a good point.
I have so much respect for Dave
Thanks Dave for your music
Also ima minimize my hand banging but how can I when I here your kick ass music
Even with a collar, he looks so good ❤
I liked this before i even began watching it. Dave has become such a good man. God his wife is so freaking blessed; she doesn't even like metal😊 ..I'm sure he finds that appealing & very loveable❤ ..a wife who isnt a "fan". He has enuf fans! Now thats an awesome sight... seeing Dave Mustaine holding a press conference at Yankee Stadium... with the Yankees billboard behind him
so grateful that megadeth played this show and they sounded amazing. you cant have a thrash metal concert like this without mustaine
God bless Dave Mustaine.
Dave you are incredible! All the best to you!
Geez people, no need to bash him for being religious.
That same religiousness is the reason he's alive now, yes therapy and all that saved his ass when he overdosed, but his religion gave him the willpower to continue drug free.
There is such a change for the better in that man. Far more peace in his life.
Even in Dave's condition at the time Megadeth still put on a spectacular show!
Mustaine is my MetalGOD....since 1987 when I first heard the first note of Megadeth's Killing/Business.............and he still is MetalGOD
get well dave ...........metal needs you
The first time I saw this video I cried...
I love u dave. And you still rock. Hope you are well.
Really cool honest interview. Thanks.
@manoliono Haha every time there's an interview with Megadeth it's Dave talking the whole time with the other band member(s) sitting and nodding quietly.
Fascinating, thank you for sharing that.
Wish him all the best for his recovery
Totally random, but the sound of that snare in the beginning of the video is sick. Even through my phone speaker it just is right in that sweet spot. 🤘🏼🔥

@NotoriousYeshi :'''( i just hope he is able to keep going they have been my favorite band since the fifth grade
@TheAnimalhouse96744 That's definitely true about Tom, at the big 4 concert he nailed the scream in the beginning of Angel of Death, sounded just like the album!
I have always been your fan Dave Mustaine. ✌
shawn alwayz makes such good points
i love dave Mustaine \m/ i hope he will be ok
this made my day! thanks
Now that on his facebook page he stated that He'd just written the first riff of 14", I think there will be another album lol. I was seriously worried that there would be no more Megadeth though

Dave kicked ass for this, I didn't even know he was hurt until after the show.
They probably just showed 5 minutes of a longer interview.
Shawn really knows what he's talking about.
i don't think Dave is saying that at all its just him singing about his journey to success and what he had to go though to get there
DAVE GIVES HIS ALL TO JAM EACH NITE!
amen brother :)
I was at the show and he was like yea I just had surgery, at the time I was kinda drunk and like yea whatever, didn't know it was this serious though. Glad he sucked it up and played the show.
Mi banda favorita de metallll
I missed e’m in NC :(
anyone else notice Dave is wearing one of those balance bracelets that supposedly don't work?
Get well
its Hangar 18 just in case if ur asking :)
@bomber191 I couldn't tell, and I also misheard and thought his surgery was scheduled the /next/ day. In retrospect he did look kind of "tired" though. Didn't really hinder his performance in the least though- he didn't show it...
Shawn is a good listener
dave mustaine is now a true metal head
Eres LO MAXIMO Mustaine! Eres el MEjor!
This man is a warrior.
@megadeth9000 I think he'll be fine, if he pulled through when he messed up nerves in his left arm, he'll be fine after neck surgery, they are going to take a break while he recovers though

dave knows where its at. put your hands in god . surrender to his higher will and the doors just open.
wan2bvader exactly ✌
Tom Araya went through the same thing
To Me, since 2005, pretty late !! So sad !!
and i was there!
He should have renamed the band MEGADAVE! New member every week...
Mustaine better be careful, otherwise he'll end up like Araya.
EPIC ! DUBAI FTW !
the song in the end sounds kinda like an Iron Maiden song
I can't headbang of I'll get fucked up. What do I do at concerts, mosh?
But they never came to Dubai in Decemeber :(
2:54 james don't like the way dave talks, so he call dave
Well, when you have Kerry King, there's no need to head bang - he does it for you!
Haha
Didn't Tom Araya have the same kind of neck injury or something similar to what Dave has?
@skaterobban have you listened to the last song on TH1RTE3EN? Judging from the lyrics- i don't think there will be another album.
does he have what tom araya has or had tom araya can no longer head bang
where is my house
@megadeth9000 Its kinda simlar, tom was having back issues because he had some pinched disks in his upper back and neck area....Dave's injury is pretty similar, they both have been very prolific headbangers through out the years so the damage to their spine and neck was going to happen eventually...Dave probably wont be able to headbang after the surgery
Yes, that's what the title says. -_-
@vlmmosto aha but I have a shitty old keyboard with letters that are completely fucked up, whereas you have an up to date brand new keyboard to fit your trolling needs ;)

Shawn looks uncomfortable 😳
Ole mi dave munstaine

@PohatuJr kerry king has some spiked bracelets he can probably borrow
Mustaine should feel lucky to be next to Drover
is it just me or does dave mustain sound like steve vai. close your eyes and listen
Have you ever stop and thought that maybe the "Magical Sky Daddy" helped the doctor acheive those skills? And that He is behind the science in this world? You shouldn't making fun of other people's way of life, and should be finding ways to accept that there are or even compromise.
Dave is sticking it to Death Magnetic
@vlmmosto you wanna hear a joke? load and reload.
That´s true.
Dave talks about God like some medieval cleric
Ever thought of the "Invisible Man" creating the science in Earth? How does the world just natrually develop? We are used to the way it works, so it doesn't seem impossible. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you're wrong, but at least some of us have the decency to accept others beliefs.
Dave is very metal him and Tom Both neck surgery for excessive headbanging how much more metal can you get
@gojirason indeed we do sir
been there Dave.....spinal stenosis and bone spurs. My whole neck is fused after breaking it twice. Sux getting old. I as well have numbness in my fretting hand. Depends on the weather and stupidity(testosterone!!!!!). it doesn't get any better either, only worse.Let there be rock!!!!!!!!
How so?
never heard of Albert Einstein?
that snare sounds like shit right there in the beginning
