Absolutely love your adaptation of one of my favourite Christmas songs. Thank you so much for pouring your soul into it. It shines! It preceded one of the videos I wanted to watch as an advertisement, but it was so beautiful that I clicked through and forgot to watch the original video.
This is incredible. It makes me want to get back into playing the piano again, something I have a talent for but haven't played much recently. Thank you
The moment the song shifted to the deeper darker tone I got shivers! From a fellow musician to another wonderful work! Would love to have an actual copy of the music to learn that piece to play on piano!
Awesome, thanks for listening! If you'd like a copy of the sheets, visit this page: bit.ly/2cBoomQ Hope you sub, I have a new album and a few new videos coming out soon!
This should have so many more views and likes than it does. You are incredible! I love the emotion and soul in your playing. You're freaking brilliant!
Beautiful - I first heard this as a child and was convinced that bells were really being rung. Great to see your much younger brother is also a pianoforte master! No, wait...😄
Absolutely beautiful! Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a piano soon. It's been too long for me since I lasted played, even though I played only a few months ago. Your piano arrangement was amazing! :)
So I commented on this video a long time ago about how much I liked this variation of Carol of the bells. Is there a way I can get a copy of this piece? I would love to try to play it for my upcoming recital in December!
Hey Chaige! You can get a copy of the sheet music in my new online store here: charles-szczepanek.myshopify.com/collections/all-sheet-music. Thanks for coming back and listening again. I hope you stay tuned, I have a new album coming out in just a few weeks!
Great! So dynamic! The best piano arrangement of Shchedryk I've heard! However, maybe it's me, but the moment at 2:15 seems a little bit odd. Nevertheless, I really love this!
I set out today to find a cool and unique version of this song to learn. This was the first video that popped up. WELL worth the watch! Keep doing your thing man cause that was AWESOME!
Canto Ostinato influenced? I sense a taste of that in this arrangement, besides from the obvious rhythm parallels. Well done sir! Amazing playing and producing.
Powerslider Actually not aware of Canto Ostinato! The inspiration for this arrangement really came from how many boring versions of Carols of the Bells existed. Was just trying to spice it up a bit and also add some movie score flair as well.
Listening to this has inspired me as a young pianist. this was so beautiful. im am only 13 and i aspire to become this good of a pianist. if u have any tips on how to become a better pianist plz let me know.
I know I've asked you a million questions about this piece, but I just purchased it a few days ago and am trying to learn it by December 25th, what fingering do you use starting on measure 48? I have my 3,4,and 5 up on c#,d# and e and my 1 and 2 down on e and g#, that seem like the easiest position yet it is still very hard to play the top three notes in order while my 1 and 2 are playing as well, especially my 4.
Chaige Baker yup that’s the fingering I use, and the only one that’s possible if you don’t leave notes out of the bottom of the chord. Try to feel like your third finger is linked to 1 and 2. So you’d feel like those three fingers make a chord and 4 and 5 work alone. A little bounce of the wrist on the chord could also help execute it. Let me know if you have other questions!
That was an absolutely beautiful performance and quite an original rendition of the classic. However, it sounds like the piano is just a touch out of tune, especially that upper C# and deep in the lower register. Is it just the key this version is in or are my ears deceiving me, or has it been a while since it was tuned haha. Sorry for nitpicking, I have perfect pitch and it kind of stuck out to me.
Adam Hall thanks!! The piano was definitely tuned right before the recording. Every tuner has a different way of getting things to line up, and the highest and lowest registers of every piano are always slightly different in tuning. If the octaves were perfectly in tune throughout, there would be a lot of 'funkiness' in different keys/tonalities. You're probably hearing the 'stretch' in the octaves, so yes it's not perfectly in tune.
Chris Forbes, thanks! It's a BB. Great pianos, aren't they? The BB has just as much sound and power as some 9-footers I've played! The CCs are amazing too... have you had a chance to play one?
I love the WNG actions. Have the flex 1s on the piano recorded for this. The action is so fast and it doesn't fight back at louder dynamics. Repetitions are incredible. To me, it makes all wooden actions feel sluggish in comparison.
Great to know. did you have to adjust it for lighter action or did it loosen up after using it? i tried a brand new piano and it felt a little stiff in the show room.
Interesting you say that. Some friends have played the same BB that I call light have thought it stiff like you describe. Maybe it's just personal taste. I didn't have the piano re-regulated at all after picking it out at a dealership, but I know one of the top techs in town had worked on it before we bought. The guys at Mason in Haverhill are great, so just ask them what the possibilities are. Always feel free to email cs@charlesszczepanek.com if you want to chat about it!
Hi Anushka! I still wouldn't say that I've 'mastered' the piano... there's always more to learn when it comes to music. But I've been playing for as long as I can remember :)
Wow, Charles this is breath-taking! Amazing arrangement! I love composing in unique and exciting ways, too. I just posted my arrangement of O Come All Ye Faithful. It's pretty advanced but super fun! Would love to hear your thoughts
Thanks for finding this one, Jared! I hope you'll browse the channel a bit, especially for the film music and music theater arrangements I've done. I think you'll enjoy them quite a bit... take a look at Bring Him Home first ;-) Your "O Come All Ye Faithful" is wonderful! It has a lot of personality and a unique balance between cinematic and jazz (at least to my ears). I hope to continue to hear you as you shoot more content!
@@CharlesSzczepanek I will definitely check out more of your channel. Glad I found you! And thank you for the kind words. I'm already working on my next arrangement :)
I just happened to do a concert for christmas today, and it went out pretty well, i practiced real good with my violin, i love the music to it. Charles Szczepanek
