No injuries , just great memories...
"In memories we were rich ,
We had suffered, starved and triumphed .
We had heard god (the force) in its splendid .
Heard the text which nature renders .
We had reached the soul of man ."

We didnt complete the climb . At some stage in the future i will revisit this .
There are too many details to go through by text .
One thing about these unmarked trails is that they require respect .
For me this means sometimes four approaches .
I had set these hills as a task during covid , breaking down lackavrea was my first adventure a few years ago .
What i got from this one though is just more determination to succeed and as soon as i got home i ordered a proper water filtration system .
So as arnie would say .. " ill be back "
Enjoyed that !! Steep start and rugged hike Music to keep you going 'I will survive ' Lol😃😃
I had a playlist from the 56km and it was full of corny tunes relating to climbing .
Thanks for watching my film
Perseverance pays off!!!
It really does pay off .. some day
Great sharing gents..the view is awesome..patience and endurance reaching the goal..👍👊💪😊🤩
❤ patience is the word with this one .
Bel paesaggio e grande conquista, lk32👍👋
Great video amazing views!
Hello Ryan ,
Thanks for the comment , really nice to see it this morning.
❤
Stunning view amazing nature super beautiful video footage thanks for showing us this fantastic beautiful place keep safe Driving my friend
❤ thanks for watching my little film
A stunning hike with beautiful views. That was definitely a hard climb.
Seems any hill that is first ascent is always harder than the second ascent.
It's a strange fish
Every good day begins with a coffee and a good fill up! Quite the wonderful explore made all the better with company for sure! Some pretty amazing vistas. I bet you are pretty happy having done it for sure! Bruce and Otis
To discover new ways and experience the sights and sounds just makes you hungry for more .
Very happy we all got through it in one piece , very technical throughout . I look forward to the next time when I will be more familiar with the route as navigation was very taxing .
It's a super little route , we managed a third of the entire route on Wednesday. These hills need to be done a few times to get confident .
So happy with what we achieved. Even getting out was a task when we called the ball on it .
Hello Bruce and Otis ❤
Stunning views.
It is a landscape with profound impact. One of , if not the best in the world .
The west of Ireland is a magnet
❤beautiful video ! I love the music choices and commentary throughout
Hello San Diego , Arizona and you both ❤
Fantastic 👏....Thats some Wild Wild country up there..top Hike by you 👌 🙂
Well worth a gander up corcog , on a fine day .. the ground is perfect
This was great Owen well done it looks super technical! Smashing views and great company! Superb share 👍
Thanks a ton! It is technical . And may take a few attempts . Such are these hills
Magnificent 👍👍👍
Thanks for your music unclejesus
I’m always in awe of you owen ! I luv that you take the time to record these achievements for all of us to watch and experience. Well done little brother luved this one
We live and learn...
Documenting it and making films is something i love to do. That epople get to have a bit of fun in their day brings me great joy
and that we are all back safe is fundamental.
you would have loved those views, its a pity there isn't a proper trail to the top or a swiss cottage or something at the top. The view , although exposed and beautiful is obscured by the ground. It would be handy if there was a platform at the top to see around more.
Imagine a cable car to bring disabled people up there. It would be a treasure in ireland.
well done, thumbs up 👍🙏💯
Thank you for your kind words
That was a bonkers hike! Well done!
Cheers , going back to do it again next month
Hi Owen. Lovely footage of a beautiful landscape. You guys picked your day well. I can tell you enjoyed this by the smile on your face. A tough but rewarding hike and experience. Well done to the three of you. 👍👍
I got to enjoy it more when I got home and watched it.
Glad you enjoyed it. Very rewarding , very creepy , no human footsteps to be found , just the odd bit of worn grass or crushed stones ..
Almost like tracking . We needed every bit of technology. I had two maps on the nav , three devices , two alternative routes one on Justin and one on me . It turned into a type of threading goal posts , we eventually got to just reading the ground .very very interesting approach required to succeed .
One map would say go left and the other right to avoid a mound for instance . All maps stored offline ,
Beacons sent to loved ones , and then the odd updated text message . Very technical climbing accompanying this and moral support .
How do you do all this and then film it ... Those climbs Andrew , were a thing of beauty . Those descents , blind were the most disgusting one could ever have nightmares about .
You know it's bad when you are sliding your ass over something . .
But oh yeah , wonderful , can't wait to go back and finish it .. I may just have to do it solo though , it's too scary watching others .
This was amazing to watch. Amazing landscapes and looked like really challenging steep sections. You captured beautiful footage.
I'm glad you enjoyed it from the comfort of wherever you enjoyed it.
When we peered over the edges it looked pretty hairy . . But up close they were not so bad.
A first ascent always has this hesitation , one part of you wants to look around while the other fears a change in conditions . So it's a real hair raising place . . When we got to our check point three hours later than expected , we knew we had bitten off enough for one day and lacking any injuries is a testament to my two friends Joe and Justin . All taking it in turns to find a way up or a way down . Breaking up this task between us really helped with being able to enjoy it .
The views are fantastic.. reminds me a little of Knoydart in the Scottish highlands, rugged & wild. And the light!!! Oh, man it’s a photographic dream. But boy does it look rough. Enjoyable and very natural, good to witness the craic 👍 Love the ending “well that was fun” Until next time 😁
It pains me more that I didn't complete it
@@lifesahobby I know. But you will. Good luck!
@@FIVE-FOOTLythsome day
It’s incredible footage and a lot of love put into it. It’s an honor to have my music associated with it. Greetings from Japan! 😊
I just took this video off private today .
Going back for more next year . . I thought you died camping 😀
Your music made the intro excellent
It looks amazing and tough
It's a killer .
Good stuff 👍
Thanks 👍
This is amazing footage, really love it. Great hike with brilliant views. Thanks for the effort in compiling this video, from a new subscriber.
Loved it Owen!😃 Really well documented 👏👏That is some seriously wild country you have over there on the Emerald Isle and good nav skills needed I'm sure. Good effort from the three of you 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Galway...nice. Good video. You've got some great cinematography and editing skills my friend.
The support and comments bring the efforts in the editing.
This one is for you guys
Hope you are well Pavel ❤
@@lifesahobby That's what I'm talking about my brother. Keep them coming.
My gosh Owen your films are now taking on cinematic epicness, the views are stunning and the vibe of the music really brings the beauty of those mountains to the viewer.AWESOME MY FRIEND, SIMPLY AWESOME..Garth
Hey garth glad you enjoyed the view . There was supposed to be more video shot that day, so to me the film is not complete. But the views from on top of the maumturks is unique .like you are in a different eco system .
I'll be back to complete the walk soon enough , just not enough hours in the day there on Wednesday.
❤
Thanks for watching.
@@lifesahobby Not being able get out much now these theraputic films clear my head and inspire me no end.thank you buddy.look forward to part 2
Thinking of you guys when I get to the summits and pan slowly . Thinking of you as we descend and ascend ..
Thinking will this give them a good view and when I'm making coffee you scream from inside the camera bag , saying what about us 😀 . It's me who is inspired by you .
What a day . A third of the way .
Happy Friday man
@@lifesahobby 👌😁
What's stopping you getting out ? Is it pain or mobility or both ? I hope you are getting better and not worse brother Garth
Owen you’ve out done yourself on this video!! Well done brother!!
I respect you for ALL your care & prep that went into this challenging climb of the infamous daunting & dangerous Maumturks Mountain Range.
You’re my hero
The video is amazing
That sunrise
The views
The height!!
Those mountains I’ve seen my whole life and never thought anybody climbs them.
Proud you’re my wonderfully talented brother.❤️
Thank for all your assistance Hayley ❤
Absolute class Owen. Bananas and Cat5 cable is a great conversation starter to be fair. 😂
Thanks for watch mate . Hope you are getting on well with the new baby .
What's his or her name ?
Little man Finn, he's 4 months now. So finally getting some decent sleep.😂
Finn , I should have remembered that .. it was seefin in Wicklow that saved me ..
A great name . Great to hear you are all doing ok and getting some sleep . Still a bit to go before he's making his own breakfast !!
Hope you have a good summer
😂thanks pal. You too,
Wow you put together videos professionally, amazing landscapes/views.. but at 09:22 am what happens? magnificent.. it must have been quite a hard trek but what a show...😊👏👍💪
9:22 we put on rain coats . The rain we could see approaching from west and when it started we got on rain clothes .
I never took them off again . For July it was 8 degrees Celsius
Great video Owen ,well done to you and the lads 👏👏 did you leave your lights on Joe 😂😂 amazing scenery 🙌
Fantastic experience. Well worth doing .
You just kept going up and up and up! That was a lot of climbing up 😮
Great views in this and too bad we missed the audio for the Cat 5 conversation 😁
Thanks for taking us along on the journey 😊
No problem , glad you got to come along and see some part of this challenge. In the end we just managed one third of it. But it was a great discovery. I learned some things , patience especially
@@lifesahobby patience is a good thing to learn😊
The one third of the challenge you did looked quite tough. How much elevation gain did you get in the one third? It looked like quite a lot!
3000 feet .. up and 2400 feet down .
Or 950 metres up and 749 down .
It was the one big hill , or half of the total climbing we had to do . . The other two thirds had the other half of the climbing to do .
Partly to do with being unfamiliar ground . Easily this added an hour or more in navigation and looking around .
@@lifesahobby how come 200 metres less on the way down? Did you catch a plane for the rest of the way😁
That's a lot of altitude gain! Great job 👍 It'll get you ready for the next time.
We ended the walk at meamean , the passage of the birds , which is a valley . Then we walked out of that valley back to ma'am cross to the cars , a total of 21 km for the day . At mamean , we had completed 10 km over the hills and almost 1000 m ascent .
We had a further 18 km to proceed from meamean to complete the entire walk . With one more way of getting out along the way . But no means of transport , which would have left us a good bit of road to travel .
It had taken six hours at that stage to navigate this far . And judging by the progress we saw it as a fruitless and dangerous exercise to continue for another possible 12 hours .
The only solution is to not carry so many supplies . . I have ordered today a grayl water filter and my intention is to go back and complete the walk . .
I take from the day more fitness . And excellent discovery on the route . It's a mean walk , but actually very cool the way it goes up and down .
Lots of places to recover . The grayl system is the solution .and a Tom cream 177 grams of food approach .
I'll be back .
6 hours was mad time , not unexpected , but madly past an appropriate finish . After 8 hours your muscles for standing get exhausted . So descents get precarious .
I've done other hills down there and it's taken me four attempts for even very small ones . Four different days .
I do wish I had completed it , but there wasn't the outside support required to divide the group . And I wasn't going out of there without being a team .
So determined or not , my poor wife now has to suffer me still thinking about this thing . I'll have to do it on the sky and say nothing to nobody 😀 .
i need to go back and watch the intro to this challenge. couldn't decide what to check out on your channel, so just went here. glad you stopped by mine, this was fun and that sunrise was amazing. looks like you've got some great content (and editing skills). cheers lifesahobby! 👍
