I am glad I am working helping people with substance abuse issues. I am not going to solve the world's problems but I can help in my own small way. Keep up the good work Union Rescue Mission. God Bless you Andy.

Thank you Andy for all you do. We were a breath away from being homeless and by God’s Grace we were able to stay with family. It’s so scary and my heart aches for these people.

I guess you could say the Union Rescue Mission is what the Fred Jordan Mission was back in the 1970's. I remember watching Willie and her husband Fred Jordan on a PBS channel here in where i live in Santa Barbara county Ca. When i was old enough my first time going to Los Angeles by myself i seen that old Fred Jordan mission and it was closed. Now in 2018 it's still closed but there are so many tents on the sidewalk you can't get in if it was open.

Lenny Lenn Fred Jordan Mission is not closed but just does several events each year rather than housing people experiencing homelessness. They are empty during the week while we are far over capacity with men, women & children with over 1300 under our roofs.

Andy Bales yes i know it isn't but it isn't what it was back when i would see it on TV when i was a kid. And the homeless problem obviously isn't what it is now compared to back then. Wasn't saying anything nagative, was only saying what i use to see as a kid and now what i see as a 52 year old man. Keep up Gods work!

1:43 wow i was in treatment with this lady. Years ago. She said she came str8 from skid row into the facility. Sad to see shes still there, these programs dont ususally offer anything post treatment for housing. Now with DumpTrumps Medical cutbacks, they are 60-90 days max, most of them dont let you look for work (especially 60 day ones which 95% of them are, only a couple progams Ive heard have added/funded that 3rd month somehow) and the only options most of the time are sober livings which can be as much as $500-$700 (lowest end of the scale btw) , with a couple that accept GR etc..and thankfully they are starting to accept medical. Besides that the only options are ususally staying with freinds and family, which isnt always a good enviornment for someone who just got out of Treatment. I think they really need to start giving these SROs and other low income housing to people coming out of institutions: inpatient treatment, prison, jail (if long term stay like under AB109) and other places like this

Why don't the people in all those business help by donating some of those run down buildings by say donating some money or a fund to hire some these homeless people to fix up these empty space for the homeless and get them some work and off the street and out of there work places

Linda Hannah You took the words right out of my mouth. That’s what I was going to post. All these celebrities focus on stupidity as well instead of helping the needy. It’s so sad and so disheartening!

Linda Hannah why don’t we stop funding wars for one year and use that money for public assistance and educational programs?
I wonder how the streets would look if they built mental institutions/ treatment centers instead of just a few of those cookie cutter condos and prisons?
