    I'm trying to send midi clock from Traktor 3.2 on my Mac to my Xone:96 via USB, and out to a Roland Tr-8s drum machine via the midi out on the mixer. The drum machine does not pick up on anything being passed to it. I have Traktor configured to send midi sync externally, as shown here, and I've tried every midi sync setting on the roland. I've confirmed it's not a cable issue, and the roland can receive midi clock from other midi devices connected the same way. Is there something I'm missing on the mixer? Is there something I need to do to "send" to the roland? Any thoughts are appreciated.

      The TR8 and TR8S support MIDI over USB, so there's no need to use the Xone for clock.
      You just need to create a generic midi device in the Traktor controller settings and set the out to the TR, with a standard USB a to b cable going from the TR to your laptop. Make sure you have the correct drivers installed before doing so.
      Turn MIDI sync on in the software and when you press play on a deck, the TR will follow the master tempo clock. The tempo on the TR LED screen will vanish and in it's place will just be a series of ----.
      If you're DJing using sync all the time its brilliant.
      However, It won't follow the phase 100% of the time if you are beatmatching manually, so if you're using CDJs in HID mode so you'll have to keep the TR in time every so often by using the jog wheels in vinyl mode.
      If you need any help setting it up, let me know!

    This is magnificent. So many amazing options and perks.The only limit will be your imagination.
    I'd like to ask, can xone 96 send a midiclock to Ableton, for Ableton to follow the master tempo from xone 96? I want to use Ableton in a vinyl set, for adding some loops, accapellas, etc.
    Cheers.

      Hi,
      Thanks for the message.
      The Xone 96 doe does not have an internal clock. Therefore, any clock would have to come from the computer. This clock can then be passed thu the mixer via USB and out the MIDI din socket, so that any external hardware can be synced.
      I hope this helps!

  • @MrJigstavo

    Unfortunately, Xone 96 midi capabilities become ineffective if we abstain from utilizing ableton in our setup. Perhaps we wish to have a laptop-less setup?
    What would be greatly useful, is the ability to sync the midi out time signal on the 96 with external media players, such as the Denon Sc5000 (as you have demonstrated here as part of your setup), and then out to external effects units. Apparently, this feature is present in your PX5 mixer, however sorely missed in the 96, your flagship mixer.
    Do you, Allen & Heath have the intention or ability to introduce this crucially needed feature in the future?

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  5 лет назад +2

      Hi,
      Thanks, for the message.
      The Xone:96 is an analogue mixer with no internal clock. There are no time parameter features within the mixer for this product to require a clock.
      As Alex explains in the Video, the clock is passed through the mixer from an external clock source via USB (computer).
      In order to set your specified hardware as the clock master, you would need to slave the software application to the hardware device, transmit the MIDI feed through the 96, then anything connected to the 96 DIN connector will receive the clock.
      I hope this helps!
      Kind regards,
      Luke

      Hi Marcelo,
      Both the 96 and TR08 will have fixed implementation, so it is unlikely this will be match between the devices and be able to control one another. The 96 implementation is listed in the document below.
      Furthermore, the 96 does not have a built-in clock. So, you would need to source a clock from a computer via USB for any clock information to transmit from the 96 Din socket.

    Hi there, I am considering buying this mixer. I have one technical unknown. If I sync two computers using Xone 96 midi clock , on one computer I will be using Trator Pro 3 and on the other will have an instance of Ableton, will I be able to use ableton as an external effector and use it via mixer's SEND/RETURN routing without any delays and latency problem ? Do i need an external audio interface to achieve this , or the built-in soundcards will do the job ?

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  2 года назад

      Xone:96 dual soundcards have a ‘partner mode’ this is for the purpose of linking two laptops and sharing a clock from the designated master device/software.
      When setting up a send and return config between analogue and digital system. There can be inherent latency caused by the conversion in and out of the digital device (computer).
      The built in cards can manage this all for you.

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  2 года назад

      Hi Liam,
      The X;link is solely a Xone protocol for connecting K series controllers. It is not possible to connect any third-party device to this protocol. The 96 also only any has a MIDI din out, so there is no way of passing MIDI into 96 from Third-party this way either.
      Typically, we usually advise not using hubs when managing high-speed data transfer from soundcards. But I’m guessing from your question that you possibly have limited connectivity on your computer. Nowadays we are seeing newer systems, sometimes only with a singular port. If this is the case, then a hub may be the only solution.

      It is not possible to control the I/O in Audio MIDI setup, as you can see it is greyed out and this feature is not available with 96.
      The issue here is that the software platform is not able to route the audio correctly from the hardware. We know that OBS on Mac will grab on to all outputs at once. So, in this case you will need to deploy a third-party routeing app, such as loopback. This will resolve the issue.
