I'm a simple french dude, I see JHS talking about Anasound, I instantly like it . Joke aside, I've been watching both your show and Palf for years now, and you both did an AMAZING job at explaining what pedals are made of and made for, and I'm deeply grateful for what you've done. Oh, and the element is my fav from them, truly making the spring reverbe a whole new world when it comes to pedals
I have the Element with all three reverb tanks. It's amazing. Josh didn't mention that it has a saturation mode (although it looks like he has it on when he demos it) that produces a very distinct & trashy sort of overdrive with the reverb. Also, the tanks are named Le Bon (The Good), La Brute (The Bad), and Le Truand (The Ugly).
I'm wondering if I can use my amp's reverb circuit with a tank outside of the cabinet like these. That way I could try a long tank out instead of the 6" tank that came in my amp. 🤷 Seems like I may need to close the bottom of the tank like they have but otherwise I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as the red & white cables are long enough to reach outside of the cab. You can obviously use a tank outside of the amp as proven by this pedal but I'm just not sure if it'll work the same using the built-in circuit from the amp. I'm guessing it will. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't.
We use to listen the Oxygen album at my friend's house back circa 77-78! We thought he would be a keyboard wizard like Rick Wakeman, but Jean-Michel Jarre turned out to be a different kind of wizard.
Very cool episode, and yes Anasounds is great ! Need more of French music with English Fuzz boxes ? If you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and listen to Serge Gainsbourg’s seminal album from 1970 « Histoire de Melody Nelson ». May change your life forever and for the better !

It's worth remembering that with the Anasounds Reverb you can use any reverb tank you want to buy - you will have to just make an enclosure for it - cos they don't come in bamboo and transparent plastic ones! The pedal is therefore amazing it also has a smidgen of gain on tap too! 🙂

My wife is French, more precisely from the South of France (Montpellier, near Marseille) and first time I saw Anasound was in a small guitar repair shop with some new stuff. It was astonishing! I tried the Moose-one and was like OMG! It sounds really great, but I have a bunch of this sounds, so betters leave it there, more probably because of the price that cost! More than 250 bucks! But you’re right: they sounds very interesting and might be a new look to classics things. Ordered an Elements reverb, and it is nicer than any reverb I've ever heard in an amp. I got the La Brute (medium) tank, & it has as much verb as I'll ever need. I did have an issue at first, but the Anasounds guys in France were very responsive via email, & it turned out the problem was a super easy fix I could do myself. I have a very small amp head with no onboard reverb, & I can't stand digital reverb (I've tried: it sounds like a freakin' ring-tone made of an hourglass full of sharp, jagged glass sand), but none of the true spring reverb devices out there seemed all that good for the money. The Elements is PERFECT, and the "saturation" switch creates a nice trashy psychedelic distortion for space-outs.
Hey man just wondering what you using to mic your voice for these vids? I hate to be a hater cause I love your content, but the vocal prod could really do with an upgrade/change. They are pretty harsh to listen to in headphones, seems like too much hi end, and maybe semi distorted? Hi ! I'm a French Palf follower . "Bitoun fuzz" come from the name of Julien Bitoun 'The guy with the black beard at the beginning of the video (1:17). Pronounce "Betun" in English...an excellent guitarist who collaborate with Anasounds . 😉
Jean Michel Jarre is one of the pioneers of electronic music from the 70's. He used to plug his string machine into a phaser pedal "Small Stone", it's a characteristic sound of his music. If you like "Oxygene", you could listen to his following opus "Equinoxe". He learned a bit of experimental music called "concrete music" with Pierre Schaeffer in the 60's. And then, he wanted to mix this kind of avant-garde with popular music, using synths and samplers (tape recorders at that time). Oxygene is the bestseller of french pop music (I think it's more than 18 millions copies sold around the world now).
As a french guy, i liked this video so much :) Thank you. BTW, i'm user of Bitoun Fuzz, Ego Driver (and Savage mkI in the near future) : these are great pedals, as much for the sound (the fuzz is huge, the ego driver is bluesy as f***),as for the design quality (no noise, buzz, etc, switches & buttons robustness, connectors on top of the pedals). Very, very great products.
Josh ! Fun Happy Interesting Frenchnesss? video ... recent subscriber and certain you have many awesome videos, I enjoyed this one the most so far. NOTE about your drummer ... he is great! I am a drummer trying to play guitar but noticed the drums today. How do keep all those pedals clean? I can barely keep my small pedalboard clean. Thank you

i wasn't going to say anything but then i saw the plea for help from Nick at the end: riviera is a borrowed word from italian that means coastline. the French Riviera is at the ocean; it's not a river ❤
thank you for the jazz. and wow, the funk made me smile! I would like to know, though, how could anyone get a bad sound out of any compressor? I've been watching videos on making my own spring reverb. Anasounds having different tank sizes, I appreciated hearing how different length tanks sounded here.
cool pedals and i like the vibe of your jam too. Nice one. Innovative gear, love it. I also am enjoying your personal evolution as a musician over the years i've been subscribing to your pedal talks, i think it's been a few years now. Anyway...this is one of your best segments in my estimation and also some of your bestest music. xox, sincerely, Electro-spaz the Improbable. I have that Jarre LP, it's pretty good, a bit dated perhaps at this point. He did some interesting stuff with Lauri Anderson and Adrian Belew at one point also. It's one of those records, Oxygen, he sold a lot of them so it's easy to find in the bargain bins still at your local thrift shop or garbage tip.
PLEASE talk about, recommend, expand on, etc., Rival Sons and their sound for record time. I just discovered this band (yes, I’m out of the loop), but I love them. Very modern retro. Great songwriting, singer, all that stuff. Tell me what you think.
I’ve seen the reverb before, really cool if you have the space on your board for the large “tank”, or if you don’t have reverb in your amp, just stick it all in the back and leave it on all the time.
I’m late but all of you, Josh, all of JHS, anyone reading this watch the a French film Band of Outsiders. Jean Luc Godard doesn’t consider himself French but all the movies he made in the 60s are amazing and will blow your mind.
Youhou!!! French pedals on the JHS show!! So great!! French bands record time for Josh and the team: Last Train, Ko Ko Mo, Mad Foxes to name a few... (The 2 latest being from my home town: Nantes) . And speaking of Nantes, go check ALH effect. Not so developed as Anasounds so far, but great great pedals... especially if you like David Gilmour... Oh, and they're located in Nantes FR... ;-)
Josh French Culture 101(thank you Nick!!!!!!stay close to him, he needs it) : French from France and also French from Québec Canada. :) Love your show \m/
Flying a kite + Oxygene 4 = de rigueur 🪁 In 1976/77 the Peter Powell Stunt Kite was all the rage - it had TWO strings and a long, long tail and it would go wherever in the sky you pointed it - amazing! Always, Oxygene 4 would be the music playing whenever you saw it on TV
I gather that a lot of the sound of early Jarre was pedals - lot of Small Stone on Oxygene. British musician/ comedian Matt Berry is a big fan and is fascinating on discussing Jarre and even owns one of his original phasers. Berry’s work includes some amazing jams on British TV themes, well worth a listen. ( Matt is Lazlo Cravensworth from What We Do In The Shadows for non U.K. people)

That Jean Michel Jarre record was such a big part of my youth. Haven’t listened to it for years, but I am about to. Thanks for the reminder 🙏
“They have a better river”… I almost died!🤣🤣🤣
I have the Element w/ the tank in my 112 cab and Feed Me, both excellent pedals!
Jean Michel Jarre is married to Gong Li. Thats enough to make me a fan for life.
Nice. Just when you think something new can’t be done, BAM! These guys roll onto the scene. I’m curious how the fuzz face sounds.
Yes me too Plus it makes you use your guitar controls and that's a good thing

Nice focus on Anasounds! They're great!! I'm enjoying even more my Saturday morning JHS show routine! :)
Oh, and I'm French by the way :)
Anasounds is great! Thank you from France! My favorite Palf is the Élément spring reveb.
That second jam with the TS and phaser is somewhat reminiscent of Mike McCready in Mad Season. Super cool!
The pedal with a bite outta it looks like a cookie. A Nice cookie , coincidence I think not???
“Blues Lawyer” has been replaced by “Sorry For This Cover” as my favorite JHS jam title🤣😂
Thanks for the record time. I am loving it.
That was a great record! Just finished it! Heard of anasounds via TPS. I am very interested in the Cerberus! Great episode guys!
Fun jams today! Interesting pedals!
I was today years old when I heard about Anasounds.
Good stuff- Thanks, JHS!
Jean Michelle Jarre is the soundtrack to my childhood! Not sure why, but it was and I love it.
Thank you
Josh, Josh, Josh ! you missed out the name of the reverb tanks : Le bon, la brute et le truand, aka : the good, the bad and yes you got !! :)
These videos are just the best thing on the internet… very interesting, great pedals, lots to learn and so funny. 😅
Loved this ep/editing 😁
If you like to explore some French space rock? Check out: Slift - Ummon (KEXP 2020) Cool guitars, pedals, wolverine on lead, Mr. Bean on bass and a kick-ass drummer.
i wasn't going to say anything but then i saw the plea for help from Nick at the end: riviera is a borrowed word from italian that means coastline. the French Riviera is at the ocean; it's not a river ❤
thank you for the jazz. and wow, the funk made me smile! I would like to know, though, how could anyone get a bad sound out of any compressor? I've been watching videos on making my own spring reverb. Anasounds having different tank sizes, I appreciated hearing how different length tanks sounded here.
I love oxygen! Without it, I wouldn’t be able to make comments on these fabulous JHS videos. Oxygen is addictive.
Well, there goes my plan to get one of these reverbs for a great price online. Thanks, Josh. Thanks.
You guys are some slick dang players...when is the record coming out!
Great album! Been listening to it for years, one of my faves.
cool pedals and i like the vibe of your jam too.
I looove Anasounds!! The Cereberus is my favorite TS style OD,, The Savage, Ages, Freq Up, and Phase Lag are dope too.
PLEASE talk about, recommend, expand on, etc., Rival Sons and their sound for record time. I just discovered this band (yes, I’m out of the loop), but I love them. Very modern retro. Great songwriting, singer, all that stuff. Tell me what you think.
the bitoun fuzz (pronounced bee-toon) is from a friend of alex and he appears regularly on palf ! great channel
"Moose Animal" is a good idea for a band name.
Great jams boys. Y'all are really improving like totally noticably😉🎸🎶love it!
Flying a kite + Oxygene 4 = de rigueur 🪁
In 1976/77 the Peter Powell Stunt Kite was all the rage - it had TWO strings and a long, long tail and it would go wherever in the sky you pointed it - amazing!
Always, Oxygene 4 would be the music playing whenever you saw it on TV
First heard of Anasounds at Smallbox Music in Maumee, OH! Big fan of the Phase Lag.
