At the beginning when you said you normally get about 2-3 functions out of each product, that’s so me. Best video I’ve seen yet on this. Have you regretted not getting the 8 or 16?
thanks for the video, curious about the automation, can you also use the fader for something else than volume? Does it also works well on other automation options like eq, compression or midi parameters?
I've been trying to get it to work on something besides volume with no luck. I can automate Pan using the knob on pan setting, but that's it. Every time I try to write automation using the slider it just switches to volume input.
Very comprehensive video, congrats! I have a question andI hope you can solve it. I use Logic Pro X as my DAW and I bought the Presonus Faderport 2 mainly for automation purposes. Now, every time I want to use it to write my Expression (or other features either on 'region' or 'track') it switches automatically to 'Volume' the moment I merely touch the fader. Is there a prob with my setup? Thanks
Great video, a good real world practical review for those of us like you who don’t spend hours learning every last function of every bit of gear they own! I have just got mine, and bought it to use for transport and writing automation, and it seems perfect for that. I did have an x touch (8 ch) but it was way too big and complex for me to bother with, so it never got used really.
That’s what I’m talking about! I bought mine mainly for automation as well, and it is totally serving its purpose. Any other features I end up using are just a bonus! Thanks for checking out the video Rob.
@@JustinTutor You are quite right about gear getting in the way of creativity at times....I go for the 'simplest is best' approach....the creative process flowing properly is far more important than anything else IMHO.
Does it only automate the track volume, or will it automate whatever parameter you have active/selected at that time? For example, if I wanted to automate the frequency of the lowpass filter on an eq, can it do that in Logic?
I can't find any information regarding this. I posted about it on their forums and no one answered. No matter what automation parameter I want to use it on it always just goes bak to volume
That’s THE question! No matter how I want to design my “expression” in automation mode, it ALWAYS gets back to “Volume”. Which makes it kinda limited in contrast of what it makes us believe…
Hey Jon, thanks for checking out the video! I’m not sure about in other DAWs, but I’m 99% sure it only adjusts one fader when you have multiple selected. It will however mute or solo multiple tracks.
did you end up getting a foot switch? I've got one attached but it just starts and stops playing. I can't seem to get it to punch in recording in logic.
Great Video,, Ive just purchased this and on the automation side! I can get any other plugin ins or parameters to work only Volume??? every time i change to an effect i want to automate it switchs back to volume?/ Any idea how to fix
You could definitely benefit from learning key commands over using this, if you don't already know them (especially cmd-z for new recordings you want to undo - using 'delete' is silly). Nothing beats a fader for automation riding, so that's sick, but every single other function highlighted in this vid can be done *quicker* and *easier* from the qwerty keyboard using pre-determined or custom key commands. None of these things should really be done with a mouse. Anyway, thanks for the video! It was helpful to see it in action vs amazon images. Its a shame this doesn't have a dedicated pan pot (having to push a button before the knob operates pan is weird and slow). PS: how does the fader feel and does it make amount of noise that matters? idk if you've been around other brands of faders to compare but I'd be curious how Presonus stacks up!
Great video Justin! I wanted to know how this controller works with Logic and your video convinced me to buy it. Well done 🙏🏻🥂👏🏼

What about the Link button?
need a setup video!

I have the same problem, not sure if a Faderport can do the job, of if it’s a Logic issue.
Helped my a lot even despite the controller 😊

Can you show me how to get automation working please?
needed this. thank you! 7:39
Thanks for checking out the video!
I noticed that the fader works very unprecise with Logic Pro X. Do you have the same experience?
Also for me, the fader on Logic X is -1db when the faderport is on 0 point and when is work
great video, can you automate parameters other than volume using the faderport?

@@babzter did manage to figure this out?
@@TranceHeed Nope....not a hint of it. I bought the Presonus with the premiss of its usefulness in Logic Pro world.
can it be used to automate the cutoff with synths or auto filter in ableton
Good video, and quick question; if you select multiple tracks in logic - does the fader adjust all of them together or just one of them?

Man, I actually just recently sold the FaderPort on Reverb. I just couldn’t connect with it.
awesome stuff, thanks a lot

In Latch mode can you simply raise the level and then release the fader and have it go back to the volume before you started automating?
that's touch mode actually
