  • In downtown Jackson, Wyoming, a small plot of land, 30 by 150 feet, produces 100,000 pounds of produce a year, thanks to a farm that soars in the air. Correspondent Martha Teichner looks at the growing industry of locally-sourced vertical farms for urban communities.

Ill be vertical farming in 2 years. I have studied farming for 8 years now and see all the benefits vertical can bring from less labour to less travel, less machinery like tractors trucks and hot weather sweat sore body. Especially doing 100 acres of farming every year. I can see with just 20 to 30 acres I could produce the same amount of crop as when doing 100.

I agree. I work in television and that was a particularly short story for this type of format. Normally their stories are about 7 minutes long and that story easily deserved to be that length. I mean the father was crying that his son had a job but his interview didn't make it to air. I can imagine the reporter and producer argued for longer but the EP was trying to cram too many stories into this episode.

yeah but not all people with disabilities can work and they don't deserve to live in poverty on SSI, with payments that are literally far below the poverty level and which haven't changed in 40 years. not everyone can work themselves to death but that doesn't mean that they don't deserve dignity. we actually can pay disabled people more than a few hundred dollars a month to live on, it's called taxing the people with money. pass it on.
