The Lonely City is so good! And prepare yourself for Beloved, it is breathtaking. I love all of John Williams' books, he is one of my all time favourite writers.
love that I found this channel ! it's such a joy for me when a video is 90% books I've never heard of (which tbf is pretty easy bc I am unlearned) and I'm so excited to pick one of these up :D ty for sharing
the books that i’ve read on this list were all incredible and almost all of the ones i haven’t read are on my tbr. definitely adding the ones i haven’t heard of to my list!! your videos are always so chill and calming to watch!!
i read the wall last spring and absolutely loved it! it was a bit bleak but so thought provoking. it’s one of those books that you really have to sit with for awhile after finishing so you can process. i hope you can get to it and enjoy it as much as i did :))
Great list! My favorite Baldwin is his novel Another Country. I also loved Stoner. Quiet but powerful. I’m going to pick up several you mentioned. Really enjoy your channel🎉
i’ve only heard beautiful things about all of baldwin’s writing! looking forward to making my way through his work 🙏🏻 ahh, i hope you enjoy them! and thank you so much 🤍
Splinters by Leslie Jamison and Grief is for People by Sloane Crosby are the two books I'm most excited to read this year. Love the list you curated - lots of brilliant books!
@@jameskatie I hope you rekindle that love of reading soon. Marian and Carmella are pretty funny and quirky. The world is like diving into a surrealist Miss Marple with splash of the DaVinci code. It definitely has potential to break a reading slump.
I love your videos so much, thank you for the great list. I have The Door and Stoner on my 2024 TBR list as well, as well as The Birthday Party, thanks to you 💕
on freedom was really enjoyable in the sense that i had so much to discuss with people about art/sex/climate/politics. oh, that is high praise for the wall! my expectations are definitely up there haha x
I adore Leonora Carrington - her novel, her short stories maybe even more, she was also a painter, one of my favorites of all time. When you know her biography, her art hits even harder. I am currently preparing to write my master's thesis and considering a topic related to personal rebellion in the works of Carrington. Can't wait to hear your thoughts after reading "The Hearing Trumpet"!
i’ve come across some of her art and adore it! she seems like such an interesting figure, i can’t wait to dive into her world. that sounds like it would make a fascinating thesis! 🤍
this is a top tier list as far as i’m concerned: 11 are books i’ve read and liked or loved (many are some of my fave books of all time!), 4 are books i’ve been wanting to read (such as jarman! i must finally!) i took a screenshot of the list bc it’s so good :)
Lovely video! These books all sound really great. I also plan to read Go Tell It on the Mountain this year. I haven’t read any James Baldwin yet so I am really excited to finally do so. I LOVE that cover of Ghost in the Throat - it is different from the cover I’ve seen here in the US. I have it in my wishlist but I think I may have to look for that cover! Happy Reading!
i think if we are both reading baldwin this year, we will have some great reading to look forward to! giovanni’s room is truly stunning but heartbreaking, please read it 🙏🏻 x
So many goodies on this list I cannot contain my excitement for you! Eep! Baldwin and Didion! Morrison and Hart! I’m also on the train of wanting to do some Szabo this year. Might inquire you for a buddy read! My most anticipated reads this year in regards to the new new are Parade by Rachel Cusk and All Fours by Miranda July! And as far as backlist, I’m planning to reread a bunch of books that have made me who I am! I want to become more me than I already am, if that is a thing that’s possible
i’ve heard about so much love for the wall, i’m really looking forward to it! i finished lovebug yesterday and it’s a wonderful mix of love and virus-beautiful and gross x
This list! So so good, I can not wait to hear your thoughts on them. And I am certain you are going to enjoy Art Objects (and Modern Nature of course!) 🤍

sounds like a good tbr! the birthday party was quite divisive but i can’t deny the masterful ability to handle tension in that book-so good! x
on freedom and the lonely city are also on my list!! can't wait to hear what you think of the wall, it may be my favorite book ever :)
on freedom was really enjoyable in the sense that i had so much to discuss with people about art/sex/climate/politics. oh, that is high praise for the wall! my expectations are definitely up there haha x
A very good list! Many of these are ones I’ve been wanting to read as well. That Chloe Aridjis sounds incredible, immediately added it to my list.
right? i bought it immediately after reading the synopsis, sounds mesmerising! x
titles are so important! one of the best processes in the birth of a work! I agree!
do you have any favourite book titles? Or books you’ve picked up recently because of their title?? x

i’m already thinking they will be highlights of my year, they just sound so perfect!
