I am overwhelmed by the magnificence, the virtuosity of Weber who is invisible these days and really shouldn't be.
I remember struggling with the virtuosity of "Perpetuum Mobile" (last movement of Piano Sonata No. 1) when I was younger and, how people were thrilled with my performance and kept asking: "Who is the composer," fully expecting to be Liszt or Chopin.
Weber could write great melodies and his grasp of the piano in all of its elements was profound.
Now that is a word to use for a forgotten composer: "profound." Ah, Carl Maria, you are profound!

Finally - a box set of these fine works. Given that greats like Arrau, Richter, Fleisher and Gilels have championed these works over years and again and again played them live it is bizarre that these fine works have no firmer hold on stage. They deserve to be widely known - so full of wit, and charm and surprises. This is box set is long overdue - and I hope it will find many listeners and make these works a bit more known. The pianist does these works real justice - with a light touch - yet hands of steel when needed! Bravo!

This is how Weber should sound, not too fast, not too slow and with Great elegance! Bravo Carbonara!

One rarely hears any of these pieces on the (Belgian) radio and yet, they are so charming. They really should be heard more often!

These are all beautiful sonatas, but #2 is something special. No wonder Chopin loved it so much.

Génial ! Dès les premières mesures, on entend tout de suite non pas le piano mais l'orchestre !

Some pieces of Weber I do know but these piano sonatas are 100 % new to me. Also the pianist I had never hear of.
Both are a great experience. ! Thank you !

This seems rather reserved compared to performances by other pianists.

Beautifully played. The compositions sounded a bit "basic" though.

@@HenryYeveley1 I agree with the Beethoven part. I like Clementi :)

If this sounds basic to you, how do you consider stuff like haydn? Exercises in writing music by a 6th grader?

Mozart is 5th grade then, and Bach quite as much.
