Yep! the way i finally managed to get into the game(few years back before steam) was to just start throwaway fortresses to figure out the mechanics.
im gonna use these dwaves to figure out how to farm properly
im gonna figure out how to get crafting to work
etc
I think that’s a good idea. I feel like overtime I would get too attached to the dwarves and make it my mission to save them and the fortress though

You should make your bedrooms not only floor but walls too. It makes bedrooms worth more dwarfbucks

@@samtheashen yep, although i had some problems with the drink, i managed to solve it and now im making iron armor and weapons for my dwarfs!

RimWorld is inspired(copy) from dwarf fortress.
Yeah I agree, you can definitely see the inspiration in rimworld from dwarf fortress. I played rimworld before dwarf fortress so I might be a bit biased, but I think rimworld did enough to stand on its own feet and not just be a blatant rip off.
The lack of z levels keeps me from really getting into rimworld.
