Your tip on putting your back against a block is great! I usually get frustrated when the camera bumps against things behind me, but this approach will fix many 'view' issues.
Thanks for the video mate. I knew the game had structural integrity, I just didnt know how to apply it properly. You're video solved that issue for me. Subbed your channel straight after watching the vid. Cheers!
I have a 3 story, 4 x 12 (foundation piece) long & wide, with only reinforced stone at the corners, horizontal stabilizers, and NO central support and my roof is complete and green. I think its just stone at the corners, with good horizontal support thats needed
@@CellChaos-e2s they've changed how it works a bit with the latest update so as of now I say just do whatever works for you because they will probably change it again in the near future anyways.
@tonybrutal oh, I'm a building fool. Previous to the update , the building system was more unforgiving than it seems now. They may have relaxed some of the requirements since so many folks were finding it to be a challenge
One may wonder why there ain't a 1st. person view in this game? As you show while placing temporary walls it's absolutely possible with such a view. Also it's sometime hard to place plots so a bird-eye view would be very welcome, just like in Starfield.
@Nope60_09 yeah ignore angled beams. Stone pillars and 1/3 stone foundation walls are great for support. Horizontal beams for bracing. My buildings over 9 high 😅 and could easily go higher
Question: why is it that when I go to build structure that I don’t see any stone walls or pillars in my construction screen options . I’ve been playing for over a month now and I still don’t have anything but the plaster walls or the wood or the wood looking material I don’t have any stone. You didn’t show how you went about getting stone walls or pillars. Is that something that has to unlock?
At this point, it seems all "stone" structure are referred to as "foundation". There are better wall and such, which require clay -- sort of like plaster and beam structures.
most of it doesn't make sense and coming from a guy who used to build houses. you used way to much wood for supports, a simple T with 45 degree at the corners should be a enough for a buidling now if you are going for something large you need a center collum to support it all. but made me feel like the devs didn't read into it really and just guess how it is done.
@@renevil2105 this was just to give people basic information to get started. I been planning to make a better and more in depth video on it. But I understand what you're saying.
@@tonybrutal no, it's flat as can be. She's a friend of mine - if you go to the northern tip of Nones almost on the border of Trecassis, you'll see a small city that grew there. Look for Pi. She's got a factory there that is at least 7 floors high. She used reinforced stone with beams dropped in plus layers of foundation for stability. It's quite a sight to behold!
@XelaML when you go higher walls are everything. Walls or, especially, stone foundations walls reinforce pillars. You can test it by going as high as possible with pillars or vert beams. Then shove walls in and watch the pillars/beams change color. Frames are important but each part has its role. As i said. Im 9 high with green pillars/beams because of walls. No framing. Bar floor supports.
@LosMuertos4830 i was considering it since ive been helping out people in game with it on various servers. Ill see if i can make something over the weekend.

@@Nax-rh5dp thank you! I'm glad it helped.
Very Helpful, thank you
If you have anything that hangs outside of your plot disappear, it's because somebody came by and stole them.

I'd love to see how the lower floor supports change the color of the upper floor building pieces. Does it really make that much of a difference?
@@MyReligionIs2DoGood it can get pretty tricky but it definitely makes a difference.

Cross beams do nothing. Only horizontal and vertical add support
Really I just finished my ground floor and it's not a lot of space as a solo player so I am thinking of building 1 and 2 floor

I'm going to have to check that out. If that's true then that's just kind of messed up lol. Thanks for the info though, I appreciate that.

its simple to prove or disprove, make two identical walls one without beams one with and see how quickly it goes orange

You need Carpentry lvl 8

Build pottery kiln, unlocks stone construction. Had same issue kiln did it for me. Edit make bricks, that was the unlock.
I haven't tested yet myself, but I hear the color coding for walls is all wrong and you can build them quite high without using pillars.
Crazy hard to start playing when no one tells you how to get access to walls to begin with.

The devs need to make it so beams raise the stability more
Learned not to build across lines when I couldn't put up posts in all my corners.

just a game seems devs need to worry about so many other things then perfect physics
as much of this game that is broken, id say so.
walls dont do much of anything, i always build my frame first out of wood or stone, then put on the roof, and walls go on last

The quantity of beams required to go up a few levels is absolutely ridiculous and really unrealistic, even in a medieval setting.
If you level your carpentry and get better beams and stuff, then it's not so bad. The low level stuff just isn't that strong.
@@tonybrutal I'm 29, building more than 4 high and above without explicitly using short stone foundations as supports is utter cancer.
I stick to ark or conan 😂
This one adds the good stuff from Valheim to the mix. Best building in any game I ever played so far.
