    Wow, you did well with the Excelsior Class Old Age Home. They have no business standing up to a Keldon without help from a ship not 100 years old!!!

    Does anyone else think the auto shield rebalancing takes some of the fun and challenge out of it?

      Its there to mitigate the appalling AI. I get tired of ships constantly exposing dead shields when they have 5 green vectors still available to protect the ship

      @@adamlee2111true, the AI in BC is terrible. I took out a Romulan Warbird with a shuttle in the vanilla version, the Warbird had a massive blind spot at its rear so I got really close behind and stayed there. Took ages but it eventually died a shameful and undignified death

      It seems more realistic.

      @@danielhausser8038 The Keldon didn't appear to be much better than a Galor if its appearance in "Defiant" is anything to go by. I buffed the Keldon a little for Bridge Commander just to give us something half decent for the Cardassian fleet
      I'm still debating whether to add torpedoes

    • @CC-mp1wk
      @CC-mp1wk 3 месяца назад +1

      We’ve actually never seen any Cardassian ship fire a single torpedo in canon. Terok Nor had photon launchers, the orbital weapons platforms had plasma torpedoes, but the actual starships were never seen using them.
      I always took it a sign of their relative poverty, torpedoes need to be manufactured and require parts etc, their ships were likely built with the launchers, but probably only ever carried a handful of warheads, if any at all

    • @adamlee2111
      @adamlee2111  3 месяца назад +1

      @@CC-mp1wk I think I’ll leave torpedoes off the ships and equip their stations and owp’s with them, like you say they’ve never been observed on the ships

    So basically the Keldon is a space-fortress. I mean it makes sense. She certainly looks like one, she should be able to take a beating like one.
    The lack of torpedoes I'm not sure about. I think Cardassian ships do have photons (less powerful then Federation photons), but a total lack of torps seems silly.

      I've balanced it to fall between an Excelsior MkII and an Ambassador class, leaning closer to the Excelsior end of the scale. I didn't equip them with torpedoes because I've never seen a Cardassian ship fire them

      @@robertcapet9132 Point is we never see them fired in any show. That's what Adam seems to going off of. They certainly fire plenty of them in games like STO (but then STO plays fast and loose with ship loadouts in general, being MMO). And absolutely, that Voyager episode really throws a curveball, since the Cardie drone there is specifically stated to have quantum torpedoes. Then again I assume they built that thing with Dominion assistance, so... ehhhhh.
      IDK. I'm on the fence about this. I like what he did with them (making them hull-tanks), but honestly I think they should have some kind of torpedo. Even if it's only one launcher fore/aft, with a long-ass reload time. Going just by show-lore is often limiting (since Star Trek shows themselves are notorious in being inconsistent when it comes to ship weaponry).
      I think he should add some very basic photons to them (lower-yield then Fed, maybe 0.75), make them the colour of Hybrid antimatter torps (hell they could even BE antimatter torps; more primitive then matter/antimatter Photon warheads). maybe 1 Front to Galor, and 2 Front 1 Rear to Keldon, and also reduce the shielding of both ships by - say 25%, to balance out the increase in firepower. Keep the hull rating intact. And put long reload-time on them. Maybe 1.5x times the typical Fed torp reload time. Oh yea, and make them less accurate in tracking at long range. Kind of like Kazon ship torps. Well ok, maybe not THAT bad, since Cardies are more advanced then Kazon (not much more, but more :P ).
      That would be my approach, if I was making this mod.

      @@necroticavalon5176 Yes we do. Dude below cites TNG episode Ensign Ro fires two torpedoes. Again, the Dreadnaught carries quantum torpedoes. Do they carry them for fun? Or will they catapult them at enemies? It's like saying the Enterprise-A doesn't ever phasers because they don't use them.
