@@blakhawk999 Yes, I know, but what's your point??
For everyone struggling, it is an "easy" trick to do but one of the hardest to learn, allow me to ellaborate:
Most flip tricks are just variations of the Ollie but with a slightly different foot-play to make the board rotate while in the air. If you already know how to Ollie then learning one of these tricks is not *that* hard, compared to learning how to Ollie literally from zero
Basically Ollie is at the bottom of the learning curve, but it's the steepest and hardest part. Once you know how to Ollie then a world of posibilities opens for you, so don't be discouraged if you are thinking "it's taking me months to learning how to just fucking jump, how am i gonna learn any other trick?", because it's totally normal. From Zero to Ollie can take months, from Ollie to p-Shove It only a couple weeks and from there to kickflip only days or maybe just an evening.
Falling is not a failure as long as you keep getting up. Godspeed to all of you ✌️
This is incredibly motivating, thanks man!
This is actually rly awesome ty
I'm in my first week is skating and I've already learned to ollie but even though it actually is kind of clean and I'm getting it up high I still want to perfect it before even start trying kickflips

I learned my first Ollie in 4 days. I don't know what kind of magic helped me, but slow motion videos clearly were the key to success. Of course "my ollie" is not very high at the moment (10 cm) but it is a beginning :) thx for all the kind comments, these are incredibly motivating

I was gonna give this guy since constructive criticism, but this was made 7 years ago.
Here it is anyways to help beginners:
The front foot needs to be between the bolts and the middle of the board, rather than just the middle. You need to slide your foot forward as you jump, and not just lifted up and brought back down.
I hope this helped.

Don't worry bro keep try
I watched this about 10 months ago, kept practicing, and now I can do it just like this guy! (No I didn’t take 10 months to learn how to ollie, I just happened to find this video again 10 months later. Although, it probably did take 10 months to get my ollies like this)
I literally just watched this as I’m trying to perfect my ollies and got it the first try just by looking at what he’s doing with his feet. You just earned your self a subscriber. thank you
If it helps anyone, here are the takeaways from this video:
1. Place one foot on the tail and the other one slightly over halfway of the board and bend your knees to the point that your thighs are parallel to the floor.
2. Jump and about halfway of unbending your knees completely, start the push and slide motion at the same time while keeping your feet level as to allow the board to straighten up.
3. Try your best to land on the trucks and bend your knees when doing so to avoid injury and minimize impact (as well as even the possibility of damaging your board).
Hope it helps! Have never landed an Ollie myself but I’ll keep on trying and hopefully do so soon. Good luck and stay safe everyone! 🤙🏻

I like being able to visualize the trick for myself without having some guy who has been skating for 14 years cram tips down my throat. I've been trying to do an Ollie for the past 2 days and this helped me to at least get the board level after the pop. Thank you
On my second day of practicing, I managed to get my board off the ground and do a really scuffed ollie. I'm enjoying it a lot, and I'm finally making use of my board that's been untouched in my garage. It feels good and I'm so excited to improve.
Edit: This is my second day of dedicated practice. I had messed around in short bursts spaced between many months, so I'm not sure how much that counts. Either way I'm still pretty proud because that would mean I learned in maybe a combined week.
I was jumping as I did the Ollie now I know to go up right before the ollie

Oooohhhhh. I thought you were supposed to drag your foot up the board while you are getting the tail down to the grown. But really you just have to use enough force to make the tail pop and then drag your foot after popping it to level it out. That helped a lot. Thank you dude

Something that really helped me.(I hope a lot of people read this and it helps)Is that you need to jump off the board not the floor. So don’t slam the board off the floor then jump. When you jump off your back foot the board will naturally pop off the floor. As you can see in the video his foot is barely on the board when the board hits the ground.
Thank you this helped a lot! Most tutorials say the steps and then demonstrate but I could never quite catch what the back foot does after the pop.
when doing ollie, should the tail touch the ground when popping?
+Gadis Lasak Definitely.
if you want anything higher than half a foot for sure, but if you just want to go up a small curb or go over a crack, you can get away with just barely popping.
Cat Women for sure but for some reason i try hard to pop but it never reaches the ground
Troll
Yes. Also make sure your back wheels are off the ground when your board's tail is touching the ground

Your Blackfoot needs to jump off the tail right when you slide your foot up
Swifty you need to pop the tail hard with your back foot on your way up
Alweezy My front foot cannot slide up, its more like kicking the board away from me
Jump pop slide land. I always thought of it as pop jump slide land, but you jump before you pop.

You can tell he’s a skater by his vans😂
This is better than every tutorial, just watch it and then replicate what they do. No complicated explanation or even words, visual learning is much more effective in activities like skateboarding.
I did it finally!! Not super high but it feels so good to get off the ground and land it. Now practicing getting higher should be fun!!
So you don't pop the tail until you already have upward momentum 🤯
It kinda happens all at once, but you have to leave enough real estate for the front foot to completely level off the board. I think he is moving his front foot prematurely, hence the "/" angle at the apex of the ollie. Interested if someone could provide evidence otherwise.
I can get my board up at a descent height. When I land, sometimes I lean on my heel a lot. The board does not touch my back foot. My back foot goes high, but when I drag my foot, the back of the board never goes as high as my feet go. Sometimes I land too much on the nose. Why I ollie moving, I stop after the ollie for some reason. Help!!! Thx
Dude I had the same problem last week. What helped me was I went on an all day shred with my friends. Cruised about for a bit did some ramps and just got really comfortable going at speed. This helps your balance a lot. Then we went to a little flat ground skatepark with some flat banks and half pipes and rails but it was mainly flat. I was trying to do a nice Ollie all day as mate said if I land an Ollie he will buy me some munch. Now I'm pretty comfortable at ollieing and can Ollie at a decent speed, baring in mind iv been practicing since Xmas. You just need a lucky break. Just practice when your friends are at a skatepark or skate spot all day. Just push yourself. Also what helped me was have your foot a little angled. You know how your toes are angled. Well have them facing straight up towards your hardware as this gives you more balance. You also don't have to slide from the middle of the board. Just slide bellow the hardware or even on the hardware as this helps you get used to the Ollie. Then start aiming for higher ollies. Also straighten your shoulders. You won't get this straight away but if you practice all day you should get it. Don't practice stationary either as that's what originally cause you to land on the nose. Hope this helped you dude 😉
Thanks man. I tried cruising for a bit and now I can ollie pretty well. Look at my most recent vid and it will show my ollies.
"if I land an Ollie he will buy me some munch"
Please tell me more about this stuff you call munch, I want some
He meant to say *NOMS*
1st, you're not dragging long enough. You have to keep dragging continuously until you land. Your legs have to push the nose when dragging. After u land don't put too much weight on your front foot. That also happens to me.
the ollie is a basic maneuver, not a simple or easy one.
The Ollie, the whole Ollie, and nothing but the Ollie. Skating needs more of these videos

@0:10 I noticed that the front foot is already starting the forward motion before the tail even pops... That's probably most folks issue is that they start the front foot forward a fraction too late.
I've seriously never understood how an ollie works, I've been trying since I was 12 and have never been able to get it in the air.
same, looking at this trying understanding
Play at 0.25 speed. You can see that the board is tilted backwards until both wheels are off the ground, then the board is dragged upwards by the friction of the front shoe.

It's funny when I watched the very beginning, that ollie that's not in slow motion something looked off, like, strange in a way. Then the slow motion version I realised what I was looking at. Me and a few friends of mine about 20 years ago (I'm 35, where does the time go?) Anyway we were on acid skating and my friend Blake was like
"I'm going to try and do a ollie getting really really low"
So he's squatting to the point his ass is almost touching the board lol. Funny thing is he never got to try that ollie as his sliding foot accidentally slid off the board. Then with all the weight now being on the foot that's on the tail, the board flew up really fast and SMASHED him in the nose 🤣🤣🤣. We were on acid so we were laughing SO HARD lol! Meanwhile he's leaning forward holding his nose like
"I think it's ok guys I'm just freaked out cause the acid."
Blood just trickling from his nose lol. Just so readers can laugh as well he was fine. Just a busted nose was all. But the way it went down WAS HILARIOUS 🤣🤣🤣

@@SLFrodge huh?I don't know😂
how do u jump really high ;-;
U mean Ollie(skateboard trick) or jumping using your legs. To Ollie,
1. Pop tail, make sure tail is touching the ground and back wheels are off
2. Lift up back leg and pull-up your front leg to your chest immediately
after popping.
3. Push front leg forward and land.
It was super hard for me to get my board a couple inches off the ground but after watching this I can see when he goes to Ollie he jumps which gets him high and with the pressure in his foot it makes his board pop high then he brings his knees up to get the board under his feet. This was super helpful
this video helped with making 3d animations how human body parts act during ollie. thanks for this
Seems so simple yet I can't do it argh! You drop a skateboard for 10 years after learning to do an Ollie and now you're screwed, fuck me I can do it on a ripstik which has zero grip and weighs more
Pretty strange, if you are curious you can always check out my trick tip for ollies: The Ultimate Trick Tip: Ollie / Ollieing Higher - How To Ollie
I believe that should give you a good understanding on what to do
***** Yeah i saw that and it did help, the thing with me is that i can't land it when i actually do an ollie and when i do land it my wheels barely barely leave the ground. i can get like 4 inches on carpet though. just practice more i guess
Is the problem about ollies while moving? If so that's like a 100% comfortability issue. If you are uncomfortable with starting a trick, your technique is gonna suck guaranteed. You just need to feel comfortable and confident with doing ollies while rolling. When you are, you are able to do all of your techniques that you normally do on carpet. Doing ollies stationary vs rolling are the complete same trick; the only difference is you feel weird with doing moving ollies at first, and that can really kill your performance.
Well i i only tried it while moving once and it didn't go so well, if it was just me not being able to do them while moving, then i would just practice more. I can't ollie on concrete and i can barely ollie on carpet. im pretty sure im doing it right for the most part, i took burst shots of me doing an ollie and my feet seem to do doing the right motions
Oh yeah, if it was your first time then you will be pretty uncomfortable haha. Completely normal. Just practice a lot while moving. Maybe try getting into ollie stance while moving and pretend you are about to ollie, but don't actually ollie. This can help you gain some confidence about it. Once you feel good about getting into the ollie stance while moving, then try the actual ollie. Another thing you can try is to put the board down on the ground, walk back a few steps, do a nice jog and jump on the board and roll away. That would simulate you landing the moving ollie. Anything to feel comfortable here.
Theese ollies are high, but they could be more leveled out.
These aren’t very good, check out Spencer Barton, he’s the king of ollies.
1. SLAM your back foot down on the tail of the board. The harder you slam down, the higher the pop.
2. Simultaneously start to jump
3. With your front foot, drag the the foot to the front of the board while in mid-jump
4. Land with both feet on board
5. Practice. Practice. Practice.
You aren’t going to get it first try and not even 100th try so keep practicing until it becomes muscle memory. Best of luck guy and remember to have fun!
Looking at the comments, I should not take knowing how to Ollie for granted. Keep it up everyone. Y’all got this.

Nice video.. the slowmo really helps! Hope my son can get his right soon. Thanks
The part I wish I knew earlier and I think a lot of people miss is that after the pop the back foot should continue to go up even past the point where the board is horizontal and then the front foot should push down a tad. IMO the last Ollie in the video was the best because it used the technique I’m talking about.
i already knew what to do- pop your tail- -slide your foot up.. that shit, this video helped me alot with timing those movements, which seems to be pretty critical. thanks a lot
thank you so much, i just realized i’ve been trying to start the jump as im pushing down on my back leg, gonna try to jump first then bring the board up after
