Nothing is more scary for a small child than watching (without fully understanding) a loved one waste away from a horrible disease. Your family tells you they are your mom or your dad sister/brother. But that's no who/what you see, hear, or even smell...having went through it myself, I'd say the book and the movie capture this feeling perfectly.
I know how it feels man and she didn’t die in my house she died in a hospital but she was still kept in her room at my uncles house for a long time but still every time I would visit her and think the next day I would go back to my uncles house and be able to talk to her again but then she died it sucks but we have plenty of memories of her
The scariest part for me is when she's on the stairs, and she can hear her sister call ''...Rachel...'' I half wonder if Zelda was thinking of killing Rachel.
This is probably the most frightening scene out of any move I've ever seen. I don't know why, but this scene terrified the living shit out of me when I was little. Even now, I was really reluctant to watch it on RUclips. lol
Same here and I still cannot make myself hit the play button. The scene that really sticks out in my mind is when she comes back home and the sister is standing there in a blue dress. :/
Zelda freaked me out when I was a kid. That, and the dude that got hit by the truck just randomly appearing and talking to Louis, leading him down the pathway..... creepy.
So I watched thre scene you mentioned and it not as scary as Zelda. It's just a Kid in makeup playing a vampire and just begging to get, which he doesnt, yawn. Zelda is way more disturbing I think.
I just watched this movie for the first time and after this scene was over I had to put the movie on pause because it furiously reminded me of when my mother was dying of Acute Leukemia last year and her siblings never offered any support the whole time until her death. One of the biggest lies ever told in human history is that "Blood is thicker than water."
It's a horrible topic around her. He was walking in egg shells around Rachel about death and Zelda for their marriage. She did a great job in this scene.
@@duhbest5690 she's a great actress and she did very well here. the father had some great emotional acting throughout the film but sometimes he was off really bad like here in this scene.
Still one of the creepiest scenes ever. Ugh, That being said, meningitis can fuck you up for sure, but I don't exactly think it turns you into a horrible grey death-goblin, lol.
Granted, Rachel was a little girl when Zelda died and it's clear she's still affected by what happened so maybe her memories of Zelda's death are influenced by her relief that the entire experience was over and her guilt that she felt that relief.
Dude! Me too. This was the freakiest part of the movie, I thought. In fact, it's giving me goosebumps as I type this, remembering how much it freaked me out when I was a kid.. We seem to like a lot of the same stuff. Cool beans.
Vlad Tepes Ya this one scared me pretty good. But I think the one that scared me the most was Candyman. I was fucking scared to go in the bathroom for months.
I remember my dad switching to this, I saw this scene, screamed 'TURN IT OFF' and then he put Vicar of Dibley on and I sat near my mum, munching grapes while sobbing. This shit was so disturbing. I had nightmares for ages.
Love the music during this scene. Excellent build up for dread. Also I found this kind of funny. Rachel's father has the balls to criticize his son-in-law Louis for being a bad father, yeah completely ignores the fact that he and his wife were not at home and left Rachel to take care of her dying sister as opposed to leaving her in the hospital with the care of nurses and doctors.
Hell yea when I saw this when I was five I always slept with the night light on and kept the TV on. I always felt when I woke up she was laying with me looking at me.
The book isn’t exactly scarier... but it’s definitely more unsettling. King makes you envision everything in your mind and it’s definitely an outstanding novel
One of the scariest scenes in Pet Sematery. I persona Lay think this is the scariest movie ever created and by far Kings scariest novel, even Stephen thought so. My brothers used to scare the shit outta me when I was younger by screaming out 'Rachel!' God I love this movie and thank you for posting.

***** all of the stephen king book to movie translations are horrid IMO....I only came here because I always envisioned zelda as the exorcist girl lol but yeah they are all awful. Especially carrie, dear god carrie was such rancid scifi crap
I wonder what they'll do with Zelda in the remake. I heard they've got an actual girl to play her this time and they want to make her even scarier and focus on the situation around her and what traumatic effect that would have on Rachel as a child.
That scene caused nightmares for me, although as a young child myself I only saw the scene on TV, but I really had nightmares about that. Still gives me the chills and goosebumps, those are nightmares from the childhood that never go away, no matter how old you become. And today? I am a true horror fan :D The illness Zelda suffers is a real illness but it was portrayed so horrible (and good) that it still gives me the chills today :D
For the way both rachel and zelda were put through this clearly considered as irresponsible child neglect and after listening to Rachel’s childhood trauma of casualties and Zelda dying in discomfort both of them left alone like that sure Louis was right that it was all goldman's fault but don't you think after listening to Rachel’s story, Louis would've decided to simply sue Goldman for all his bad actions and hope that the court will declare Goldman guilty of all charges.
Oh God I totally forgot about that horrid scene. That back, ugh, I remember that image haunting me. The scene that always haunted me was the son cutting the achilles heel of the neighbor under the bed. I think what makes this so scarry, especially to kids (i was prolly 6 or 7 when i saw this) is that it seems possible. not like a cheesy mask wearing hillbilly who goes around killing people for no apparent reason. There really are people who are hidden away in back rooms just sitting in a bed dying and altho i imagine her look is exagerated you just dont know what they look like back there at the end of that dark hallway, you know theres someone back there but you arnt allowed to know because its a secret give me chills just thinkin about it lol
