I have seen many videos including Trend telling how to set up my jig, none of them worked or provided the detail that you did, great video extremely helpful. Thank you very much
Excellent! I've been looking forward to the follow up video all week, and i wasn't disappointed. I set mine up at the weekend and made some test cuts thanks to your first video. But this second video goes into a bit more detail on the configuration, which is exactly what was needed. I particularly appreciated the labelling of the stock pieces, such a small detail but often forgotten. Brilliant video....thank you so much. Best video on RUclips for this jig.....no question.
Hi Tomasz, I've always been put off buying one of these as they looked so complicated but this video and your explanation makes it look more achievable, thanks.
Well done to you. This is the most informative video I have watched on dovetail jigs. You explained the set up perfectly and I will watch it again and take notes of the step by step instructions. Thanks again for another interesting video.
Hey Tomasz, another great informative video. So many other RUclipsrs just show what they have managed to do without the detail of setting up you showed, thank you. I do have 1 question tho' if the boards were 18mm thick what was the reason for marking a line at 15mm, was it just a rough starting point or did you measure the bit offset with a collar? Thanks again
Thank you. It's just a rough starting point. It's suggested to do that in the manual. This jig can take boards in a fairly limited thickness and that line is more or less the average medium for all of them. You will always have to make the initial test runs to get it right.
Great video mate, I’ve got mine set up for 18mm boards and that’s all I use it for. I used set up blocks to set up the depth of the cutter. Thanks for sharing.
Sod it, a couple of six inch nails and sorted 🤣... yet another great instructional video Tomasz ... the setup is a bit of a pain, but once it is then it creates a fantastic joint ... I'll refer back to this if I ever unbox my 600mm jig 👍
Hi Casual DIY, I enjoyed your video, but am confused about the marking and order of the ends to be cut. The video speeds up at a crucial point when the pices are being reset for the second two cuts. Also, please explain why we don’t simply cut A1/B1, A2/B2, etc. Thank, David
Its about the positioning in the jig, otherwise the fingers wont fit in the right order. I think the video covers everything in great detail not sure what else I can add.
I bought one of these jigs. I’m no Norm Abraham but I have a workshop and I’m a reasonable amateur woodworker. I spent hours on this jig over a few days and it’s a pig to set up. To be Frank, I’m astonished at the results he achieved. I got nowhere near it. There are so many adjustments to make and, as he said himself, these adjustments can be extremly small. I had many goes at it and didn’t get close. The amount of trial and error needed is too much. I reckon it’s quicker to learn how to do them with chisels and cut them like proper joiners do (😀). And it cost about £150. I’m selling mine.
@richardslater677 I think it all depends, for me personally it wasn't that bad. And then when you set it up for a specific board size you don't have to change anything.
Not sure how you managed to get to that conclusion but I can assure you they are perfectly tight and you need a mallet the take this apart. As I highlighted in the video there is only one side with one pin that has about 1mm gap.
Here is my first video on the CDJ300 dovetail jig from Trend - ruclips.net/video/wlz1P8uk2e0/видео.html

The one thing that’s needed but not supplied,… patience 😁
