BEAN BASICS S3 E9: Bialetti 3-cup Moka Express Simplified!

- We love our Moka Pot. Truly, it makes a delicious cup of rich, smooth cheater's espresso, and it works every time. The thing is, we don't use it that often. Mostly because it's kind of fussy, it doesn't fit easily on our gas burner, and first thing in the morning, we're in a hurry for our first cup. The fine folks at Bialetti must have heard our grousing, because they have developed a few accessories that make the Moka Pot that much easier to use. BIGGBY COFFEE Co-CEO Bob Fish shows you how.

Good informative video on using Moka Pot
Very thorough and informative video, this is the type of demonstration and explanation I was looking for. It’ll be my first time purchasing one and I know it’ll be trial and error the first few times but I hope I can make a delicious cup! Thank you ❤
Thank you ! I drink more than that in the morning , yes I need 6 cups lol 😂
Omg Bialetti is designed to fill water just under the valve an coffee just a full basket.... No tamping just full. Why counting spoons and using a scale for getting a full basket 😂😱. Thats making easy things difficult...
He is making a strong coffee (espresso) almost 20 grams of fine coffee, but if you want to make just a regular coffee you can stay with the tradition method and get a large size of moka pot like 6 cups.
First, let me say that you two are so charming together! I really appreciated the calm, you-can-also--do-this tone. I'm considering gettng a Bialetti (and a grinder and maybe a goose-neck electric kettle). Like with most kitchen purchases, I am probably over-thinking. Thanks for the help!
Great video, thank you.
Just a little note the person talking behind the scenes was distracting.
It's funny, I use a moka pot because it's the easiest for me, but I have a gas stove.
Very informative thanks
I can't understand how your's foamed at the 3 min mark, mine starts to boil or steam in the bottom at 4min mark when I am on a med low electric hot plate. Then I turn it down to 1 for next 2 min and I am done, but mine doesn't come out as foamy in the beginning
I always pre-heat the water in the lower part before i screw on the top part. After that I put the heat on a lower setting.
I use a kettle
Actually, there is no need to preheat the water, it doesn't improve the coffee at all. Bialetti designed their moka pot for room temperature water, preferably filtered or bottled, so it has time to build the right pressure; but many Italians use cold tap water. There's no danger of burning the coffee if you use a low gas flame, or medium-low to medium electric stove, and remove the heat as soon as you hear the pot gurgle. To learn the correct traditional Italian way since 1933, search for "Annalisa J moka pot" video.
Wow. Talk about over complicating making Moka. Not to mention the washing up after
He makes a 2 minute video into a 20 minute video, and you are supposed to use hot water to prevent the start of the extraction being too cool. Also just fill the basket don't use weight of course as you need a medium-fine grind but not too fine, and you dilute the end product to taste.
Induction plate work with induction stove?
I do not know.
that’s actually exactly what it’s meant for since traditional aluminum moka pots can’t be used on induction stoves
@@SailorCookieMafia that's right..I am surprised he doesn't know that..also good as a heat diffuser on the gas like here as well
19:25 You don't have to knock like that while knocking out the coffee. It is better to blow into the tube and the coffee will come out.
Why do people do it differently? It's confusing on what's best way. Hot water? Grind or preground? Pat down? Don't pat down? High temp? Low temp? Not helpful to newbies.
Very similar to the authorized Bialetti commercial with technique included
Why have you stopped making videos?
Hey! We are still here! We have been traveling extensively over the last 2 months in service of our Farm-Direct initiative to change the way my husband's company buys the coffee for their coffee shops. So we have been with coffee producers in Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico, and are soon to leave again for Africa. We have bunch of episodes lined up to film, and sometime in the next three weeks, I think we'll be able to get a few new ones out. Thank you for watching! Cheers, Michelle
Whip cream on an espresso.... Americans...
I turned you off as soon as you tamped it down with your finger. No, no.
You talk to much
