  • We go head to head with two big cycling sunglass brands. The 100% S3 vs. The Oakley Sutro. Both are great for cycling but what are some of the key differences between the two? The details reveal there is a lot under the case including 100% making a BWR Belgian Waffle Ride version of their H3. These were tested in mostly clear conditions so watch the video to see which one comes out as the winner.

Oakley has great customer service which is a huge plus and ultimately what made me pick them. 100% completely ignored questions I had regarding their glasses so I decided to not give them my money. Sutros are also more verstalite so you can hop off your bike and run inside a store without looking too goofy. I use mine everyday.

I used both to be honest both are good but
Pro oakley: frame is really comfortable for every face or head shape
Cons oakley: lens easy to peels over time especially when you sweating, need to wipe out asap
Pro 100%: lens really durable. Never had an issue peeling or scratches
Cons 100%: frame sometimes it too big or small and not that comfortable depending on face and head shape

I have two Oakley Sutro s one for work and one for personal use they are really comfortable and they also come with a leash so I don’t have to worry about losing them while going places

Really helpful info about both sunglasses themselves indicating pros and cons, features offered, etc., and some info about the two companies. One thing I would have liked to have seen is both pair of sunglasses side by side, next to each other, etc. to help visualize what you mentioned about fit on your face and helmet, etc. Thanks!

    Excellent review!
I've had the chance to try on some 100%s at a local bike shop and I enjoyed the speedcraft variant with their really high arms which I needed since the arms on the S3 were just too low and did not fit my hearing aids.
Oakleys I am sure they fit nice given their exhaustive R & D department but from info about them they are more of a designer brand that only barely meets the competitive needs on their equipment so I would not want to wear a big O on my head like many of my other friends do with their regular sunglasses.
So I think I would be going for the speedcrafts for my pair that is once I can get my >+3 sphere prescription taken care of via Lasik or a pair from Sportrx cause sticking with my regular glasses just gives my eyebrows windburn and not having them means I don't get enough eyesight.

You probably should have mentioned that 100% come with HiPER lenses which are their equivalent of the Oakley Prizm lense and very comparable.
My 100% sunnies didn’t have a cleaning cloth, instructions actually say to use the microfibre bag

I am riding the Oakley Jawbreakers with all three options of lenses. Prizm Road, Prize Trail and photochromic.
Stunning performance! But I think about getting a Sutro just for the look :)
    thx for that video men.

I’ve been using oakley jawbreaker since 2015 and I really dissapointed with the lens that peeling over time when sweating hit the lens. After peter sagan using the 100% then i try anf never look back to oakley. But that oakley Kato really tempted

Can you wear these sunglasses over your prescription glasses?

    • @Veloworthy
      @Veloworthy  3 года назад

I wouldn't recommend it but you might be able to get prescription lenses for those glasses.

    • @benraus

Sadly nope, this style of lens that covers the full frame can’t be used for prescription, only glasses that have separate lenses. I visited Oakley yesterday and they confirmed this.
