    Australian crews seem so much more friendly than the ones I film here in the USA

      You get half and half over here.
      Some will blow the horn a million times, whereas others only a tiny toot when they need to

    Great video. Just a small note - C506, CLP12 and CLP9 have Leslie RS5T's. CLP9's horn was made in the late 2000's and is quite special because it was obtained as a new-old-stock horn from the United States. Had never been used.

    We use some, if not ALL of these horns/whistles in the us as well! Took my by surprise when I first watched this.
    We even have the same crossing bells!

    A beautiful variety of horns and whistles from Australia. My favorites are the K5LA at 3:14, CLP9's horn and more. Thanks for the variety.

    the "K5LA" is actually classed as a K5LAR24 because bells 2 and 4 are reversed and also we don't have any nathan K2s in australia, only K12s.

      I was told by multiple people that GT-46 ACe locomotives have Nathan K2 horns

    • @HybridBell
      @HybridBell 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@ryemtrains K12 would imply horn bells are mounted on a common manifold. The technically correct term for the setup on the GT-46-ACE locos is KS-1 & KS-2 because both horns are on separate individual manifolds. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the jargon though because the sound is indistinguishable.

    The K5UL-AU-LS sounds a lot like a raised letter K5LLA (American) (also, what is the grade/level crossing horn sequence there? For us (🇺🇸) it’s long long short long)

    • @mdnsubdiv
      @mdnsubdiv 7 месяцев назад

      The K5UL-AU-LS also kinda sounds like a Nathan P7X

    • @ryemtrains
      @ryemtrains  7 месяцев назад

      The crossing sequence in Australia is one horn of any length 400m from the crossing and one of any length right before the crossing. Friendly drivers will usually give more than required.
