In the ocean shrimp eat their natural diet, which is varied, rich, naturally conolete, they have many choices and will eat until they supply their need. In the pond they don't have e the same as what is I the ocean amd the stocking density is so much greater, so the artificial feed must supply as a single meal all that is available in nature.
@@joseantoniosantosdom sir, my concern is about their digesting capability of raw fish bodies in ocean & not on what they select & eat. How are they able to digest dead bodies containing 75% protien?
@banukumar444 they are smart and not only eat dead fish bodies, they eat various food sources, they have a big feast to eat and eat small organisms, algae and bacteria
That is the way to go, but best circulate the water between shrimp and tilapia ponds/tanks because tilapias will eat the shrimp feed. Tilapias is for their ecological role to suppress disease, not for profit
@@hashtagfish8542 i am curious towards the pros and cons of separating vs combining tilapia together with shrimp.. what are your thoughts on tilapia in helping to eat moribund / dead shrimp in preventing disease outbreak?
@@fudimancitra4057 As mentioned tilapia and shrimp can be a happy marriage. When production is focused on tilapia in open systems (because shrimp pathogens so high shrimp yield is too low) shrimp can be stocked at 5 m2 and its a nice bonus crop. When production is still focused on shrimp , you can also have low density tilapia (1 fish each 5 to 10 m2) for health of shrimp. But always stick male tilapia only to avoid breeding and overcrowding. But I'd recommend to mix only if salinity is below 25 ppt and not high density shrimp. For high density shrimp is better not to have them I the same pond/ tank.
@@joseantoniosantosdom Thank you Sir for your detailed answer.. I just started learning vannamei shrimp farming about half year ago (in-land low salinity, I use tap water and ion mix).. Been through few cycles, finally understood the water parameter required for shrimp, have been through lots of failure such as due to mineral deficiency, on other occassion toxic H2S sludge accumulation, and at other time, bioflocs mismanagement.. all these failures were leading to mass mortality due to what seems like vibriosis (despite purchasing seed stocks from SPF vendor). Best result so far is 10gram size shrimp. Would you be kind enough if I consult my shrimp setup with you through email?
Hello! Great information! I attended the SFA WORKSHOP end of last year. I want to start shrimp farming (L.Vannamei). Could you share your contacts for shrimp feed in Singapore/Malaysia?
Sir plz make video on aeartion set up and i have doubt which aertion is best parllel Or diagonal which type of set up make more effective plz give complete info plz sir
Thanks for the info. Question: If I want to start Biofloc system, How many % protein that should I use? Higher protein means higher N means not good for Biofloc system.
Remember the quality (type) of protein is more important than the % of protein. Assuming feed eas made with balanced aminoacids and other ingredient, 32% is good in a Biofloc system. I particularly have now switched from bioflocs to a Bio-RAS, traditional Biofloc is not the answer
Hello Sir.. Can I get detailed study material regarding vanamai high density shrimp farming . Design , construction, layout , ways of treatment of water etc
Hi Albert, I refer to final stage grow out diets for a 2 mm mesh. As pellets are elongated they are retained. If you are using pellets with small diameter, then use a 1 mm mesh accordingly.
@@joseantoniosantosdom Hi Jose, thanks for the reply. How about if I have pellets with size of diameter 1.6mm and height 2.5 mm, which size of mesh are you recommending to be used? Thanks a lot
@@albertsocijo60 hello friend. I always like to start with 2mm mesh because more fines pass through. But if you see that a lot of intact smaller pellets are passing through, and you think shrimp will eat them fine, then sieve again what passed through, now with a 1.5mm or 1.0mm mesh.

Why not grow fish with prawns or seperate them until required.

Parallel aeration up to 40 shrimp per m3. Circular aeration forr higher density

Can’t we do biofloc in earthen ponds without pond liners?? Just want to know
Hi Ravi, cannot. Because the heavy aeration required will stir up the sediment too much and clog the shrimp gills

Thank you sir. Kindly share your email id.
Can I use expired feed for developing biofloc (cycling) prior to loading the shrimp?
If has mold I wouldn't
If not okay
Isn't that 2mm mesh too big? Since shrimp feed pellets are around 1-2 mm in diameter.
