I've watched a ton of faux leather techniques and I am really impressed with your technique and the short, easy-to-understand instructions. You are truly gifted. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach all of us how you make your faux leather journals. Hey, you also taught how valuable a decent paper cutter is and a pretty cool technique for holding the paper in the journal not to mention your stamping and sewing ideas. For all that I learned today... Thank you!
I was thinking along the same lines as some of the other comments below! Your technique for Faux Leather is by far the best one that I've come across. I've already watched the video a few times. My husband was sitting alongside me and he too was intrigued. I only came across your RUclips channel the other day and I am so glad that I did. I've been checking out quite a few excellent videos already. Thank you very much! Karin - South Australia
Awesome..I too have searched for faux leather journal cover tutorial and just could not seem to fine the right one? Then low and behold I found you! I was stunned because it was perfect for what I was loooking for. All of it. The papper, the stains, the waxs, the stamps, and even the glue.I even loved the stitching. My only questions, well actually two What color was the lighter paint and what color thread did you use? I could not quite make out the colors? ( poor eyesight) Thanks a million. Looking for forward to following you!
I've made faux leather before but your technique is quite different. I really like it! I thought you had used embossing to get those images, but I was wrong! Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh goodness. So much work. Looks good but I am 73 and don't need to spend that much time making it look like leather. Great job. I'm off to find an easier way
Thank you for sharing your faux leather method! It's quite different then what I have seen before. I like it a lot! I thought it was embossed leather, like others said, too! Really very beautiful! I make (ok, I've only made one so far :) Junk journals, and I learned how to sew the 'signatures' in, usually with the three hole binder stitch sewing method, but I like learning other ways as well. I want to learn the Japanese, or is it Chinese book binding method too. I'm adding your method to my list of book making methods, thanks! Subbed as well!
Steam a seam 2 double sided fusible web, Minwax (likely) wood stain in Dark Walnut, Big Top clear coat, Painterly roses stamp from Iron Orchid Designs, Stamp ink also from Iron Orchid Designs, and the taupe paint is unknown but possibly an acrylic furniture paint.
I love the outcome. It is an amazing transformation. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful technique. Could you please let us know where you purchased the Seam a Seam?
Talent + Creativity = Inspiration. Bravo!! I'm very grateful you've shared this. You are truly a gifted artist. Many blessings.

How did I miss this tutorial. This is so cool. The one we did two years ago was similar and really cool as well. I have some planning to do….

Wow 😮
Nice effect, but I don’t think I would have the patience to do all that!
thank you so much for watching. Carmen
❤❤❤❤❤
What kind of dark wax and clear sealer are you using? Is it a clear wax or something else?
i have used several different brands. sometime the hard ware store brands, but I mostly use DIY brands these days
Also, what grit sandpaper are you using?
I am using a medium weight sandpaper.
Carmen, could you use Debi's dark and decreped patina instead of the stain
I'v never tried it, (the dark patina) so I am not sure, if you try it, I would love to hear how it comes out... thank you carmen
what sealer did you use?
I think I used minwax clear poly acrylic sealer on the very top
