    It's enlightening to see how he shows the progression - less and less "Li". I've seen quite a few people who have not a lot of Li in their body but when you get to Adam Mizner's level of "more and more sung, less li", that is very rare. Mizner is very high level. But here's the caveat: I've heard from two masters that this kind of energy is not felt by everyone, and that most women don't feel this energy. Any thoughts on this, anyone?

    • @lakland5594

      You're touching close to metaphysical reality with that question for sure. I would agree most people are dishonest about their self.
      There are definitely people who lack an inner feeling. Lacking sense. People who simply can not tap into. Weird odd alarming but tis true.
      As for women well I think they are adept or rather more sensitive to a different type of frequency of energy. And again the concept that some people are simply cut off organically, so to speak, applies to both genders.
      What are your experiences?

    It appears that true Tai Chi Chuan is a sophisticated form of wrestling with additional options such as striking and locking/breaking.
    I always thought that push hand demonstrations are simple cooperation between teacher and student, however when I had the opportunity to touch hands with Dong zheng Chen I felt that I was trying to push an iron ball in a pool of water. It was wild, strange and inspiring to say the least.
    When I asked about Fa Jing he pointed to a young college student he was training for 5 or 6 years.. he reached into a backpack and pulled out a water bottle filled with sand and he held it in one hand and with a pop of his palm flew the bottle across the room a good 12 feet as if he through the bottle and I was stunned.
    In hung kuen I've felt massive amounts of power in the sun fist however it was fully external.

    What is causing him to jump away so violently?
    I train hapkido (only an orange belt) so I know a lot of stuff that looks fake works really well when it's being done to you. But nothing I see in this video appears to warrant such an explosive leap.

    • @danielskrivan6921
      @danielskrivan6921 6 лет назад

      It was linked to me on another site and figured I'd give it the benefit of the doubt.

    • @Whiskey_Tengu
      @Whiskey_Tengu 6 лет назад +15

      Its just physics. The amount of him jumping back will depend on the amount of energy he was exerting in the first place, which isn't always evident visually in the absence of a full clash, since in tai chi one yields then instantly responds in a way that redirects the momentum that was issued against him or her in the beginning.
      Additionally, this is a practice session. They are working together. Even the guy pushing has a role, and his role is not to resist what's happening to him either so that as this evolves, it becomes a very intricate series of chess-like counters back and forth until one finds an opening. Here, he is being put in a very uncomfortable position of unbalancement, and jumping like that actually is the quickest most efficient means of recentering himself without just tripping all over the place or even just going into a brake fall.
      To break down the dynamics of what I see here, the guy pushing adam is basically pushing on a rotating cylinder. However, the cylinder also pushes back and into his empty space (weak point of balance) at the exact moment where his weight is on his toes but not so over committed that he just falls forward into Adam.
      Also note, that because Adam is essentially a moving cylinder being pushed against, that movement removes the leverage power that was previously straight on, and as such, the minute circular movement isn't just sitting back but it's also sinking down.
      There is a brief locking of the elbow and shoulder joint of the guy pushing Adam that happens naturally in the aforementioned movement from Adam. So minute, that unless you been trained to feel it, you wouldn't know what to even look for in a video like this. This isn't a painful lock, btw. It's from the new angle advantage Adam created from turning the waist and sinking his body, so that when Adam presses with his back leg to rise back up (which makes this whole movement a semi circular receiving and issuing of energy) it is going into that shoulder joint which also moves his whole body instantly into his empty space.
      That guy was basically pushing into a spring, or a giant elastic ball at that point. He's also being slightly directed diagonally upward not just laterally to the side. Real tai chi is like pushing someone who is trying to walk on a tight rope (the no experience tightrope walkers) after successfully yielding to the initial force amd with the right timing and precision of movement. Good luck developing that timing. I suck at it.
      Unfortunately, the timing for these things is incredibly strict, and the relaxation (no tension) required is usually the first composure to be exploited when more force gets applied in real challenges. Which is why people think it doesn't work.
      It's not easy to be calm and relaxed when someome really wants to destroy you.
      What you see here is real, within the context of the demonstration. In order for it to work in a real challenge situation, you still need to be able to execute the same timing and relaxing principles, and this composure is what I believe isn't being trained at high levels in todays age. Which is also why it mostly never works when they get challenged by other fighters. Real fighters, fight. That simple.

    • @danielskrivan6921
      @danielskrivan6921 6 лет назад +5

      I think the problem is that the jumps are obviously done on purpose, which makes the rest of it look fake.

    • @Whiskey_Tengu
      @Whiskey_Tengu 6 лет назад +5

      @@danielskrivan6921 oh the jumps are most definitely voluntary, but mostly as part of their own desire not to fall. The real issue, is that:
      a) bystanders make the assumption that this is demonstrating what will happen in an actual fight, b) some teachers, don't explain that this is not what a real fight looks like and it will not look that pretty or silly; this is a practice exercise with two people working together and "feeding eachother" or c) the teacher is bad and actually believes this is what a real fight looks like. Usually only immitated what his/her teacher before them did, never questioned, and blindly believed his/her own propaganda without testing them in more rigrous conditions.
      I come across c the most frequently.
      Unless the teacher is claiming in a real fight, they go flying like this, its only the assumption of the person watching.

    • @danielskrivan6921
      @danielskrivan6921 6 лет назад +1

      My guess is it's either C or it's D) that the person jumping back is trying to make the teacher look good, but is doing more harm than good.
      I could do a demonstration of my techniques and if I barely start the technique and the student flies across the room, it will look fake, too, even if what I was GOING to demonstrate was real.

    With the same understanding, there is a completely different method and result. Never soong. Never collapse as Sifu does here. The difference is martial. As Sifu says in his videos, he’s not a fighter, it’s not really martial,( this method). He’s not recommending this as a ji ji, fist. If you want the ancient quan fa, there are several critical differences. Structure, state and goal. Structural is Bao, the gathering of conditions to move. State is ready to move in an instant. And goal, bun lie zu ran, the rebirth of our original natural state. Tai chi does not have these. The method of tai chi does not require you to go back to your origin but instead builds upon your current state. The result is soong. Starting from today the answer is soong. But if you return to your origin it’s is a balanced state of yin n yang not just yin. Soong is yin. Sifu says from total soong there arises yang. That’s still duality in the physical state. There is another way with a different result. But we may say that the two are in the same family. And I may say Adam is doing a great job of teaching his art. It is wonderful to see a modern internal teacher who isn’t confused with half truths.
