      There's not many who can, but he is one of the few. But most don't realize what it actually takes, and still would not be willing to actually go through with the training either. They very much tend to have what I call the "Bruce Lee complex" lol. They focus far too much on "how to fight" and basically diddly 💩 on actually developing the mind and body properly, which is the first step and without it techniques are useless. And that goes for any art not just tai chi , but especially tai chi more so than the others. You must learn to naturally use your brain and body together in ways that are not natural to it.

    Of course this is just a 5min video, but there's a whole other segment that should be addressed about how he stands, how he position his feet and body, the solid ground he makes for himself allows him to have better control over his movements and not just swivel around to the smallest breeze ;)

  • @Moodymongul
    @Moodymongul 2 года назад +4

    Always liked some of the deeper learning (about the body / body mechanics) in Tai Chi.
    And, have met very good exponents. Who had learnt to 'relax' correctly and so could demonstrate the art. They understood the basic (but often hidden) ideas, that make Tai Chi 'work'.
    However, of the ones I could get to spar and pressure test their art, they had no ability to maintain it under that pressure (and after being hit). The mental (and chemical changes) that occurred, caused them to lose that 'relaxed' state in a second (sometimes, before the sparring).
    And I noticed, if I applied a bunch of feints in my movements (and varied my power in the techniques) ..the tai chi people would often fall over without me touching them. I thought that was interesting. And, perhaps a byproduct of how they train.
    Peace.

    • @Gieszkanne
      @Gieszkanne 2 года назад +5

      A very famous example is Master Huang Sheng Shyan. In demonstrations he could push people around like rag dolls but on the other hand he gave a wrestler a match. He won it but it didnt looked easy and effortless like in his demonstrations. I dont think that its impossible to make this mechanics work under pressure but very few will gain that level.

    • @willtherealrustyschacklefo3812
      @willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 2 года назад

      It's a bit of both, with all arts there are going to be people who A.do t really understand what it is they are doing, B. They don't focus on training the right aspects to be useful and c. They spend very little amount of time actually developing these skills and types of movements etc. You would not have the physical ability , instinctual movements that are properly structured etc to actually use any of this in any less than 10-15 years of some pretty constant training.

    • @willtherealrustyschacklefo3812
      @willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 2 года назад

      It also sounds like some of those may have had the "relax" part down without the power that comes from it, or specific connections between the brain and the body, the mind has far more power than most are aware of. And those boring ass tai chi/qi gong exercises you see people doing develop all of these things but it's something you must do every day hours a day for years. Without being intended on spending that kind of time with it you probably shouldn't worry about any of that kind of stuff, but it isn't something to just entirely overlook. Especially many of the concepts it's uses and sharpens concerning transferring and receiving energy properly, coordination and balance can all be applied to any physical act you do, doesn't have to be fighting, but it also can be fighting if you want it to.

    • @willtherealrustyschacklefo3812
      @willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 2 года назад

      Although what you mentioned about the mind and chemical processes of the body are very important.and yes it is/can be effected by situations like that, but Js if a punch caused them to lose focus etc they certainly have not trained the mind to properly interact with the body, or the body to act without the mind. You'll find a shitload of power you didn't know about once you can do that, instinctual reflex movements will always be far more powerful than your greatest conscious effort.

      It's easy to judge this if you haven't encountered it, but trust me, this is 100% real. There are even push hands tournaments you can look up. It's basically Chinese judo. What you're looking at here is static pushing. This is just a training methodology that helps you learn sensitivity and the more basic techniques like redirecting force and sticking to your opponent. Criticizing it is akin to criticizing a boxer for hitting a bag. I think it's also important to understand that there's nothing "spiritual" or mystical about this. Push hands is really just a matter of technique and body mechanics - same as any other fighting system. And believe it or not, but this stuff becomes a lot easier on some who is, in fact, resisting. Now don't get me wrong, it's not as easy to implement concepts like this when someone is actively swinging at you, but once you are in a clinch, push hands skills give you a huge advantage.

    Adam publicly said this without realizing he is talking about himself. What a weirdo, he is like the king of party tricks.. "Kung fu is developed with hard work over time. It is based in the transformation of one’s body and being. Some technique or effect that is easily learned in a short time is nothing but a party trick.
    Such party tricks are very dangerous for the aspirant, people becomes addicted to their counterfeit skills. They look similar to the real thing but fail on skilled opponents and block one from the true transformation towards kung fu." - Adam Mizner
