My name is Shyvonne (Sha-Von). I'm a wife & mother of 6 amazing kids. I love having a big family and wouldn't trade it for the world. I have 5 daughters and 1 son, ages 23-8. Cleaning my house the way "I"want it clean is so therapeutic for me. You can tell she likes cleaning her house plus it's content for her. Her children have their chores too.

Shyvonne, I’ve been watching you for awhile and I love what you do, but I have to say, you have SO MUCH STUFF everywhere. Every corner has bins, boxes, and Knick Knacks everywhere. I believe these little things are going to keep up the appearance of a “messy home” and will inhibit you from saving up for the big renovations you want to make. I would suggest cutting back on the “seasonal”, holiday and trendy things and focus on more quality pieces that will provide longevity and elevate your space
I feel she looks for deals as opposed to quality. All of this is channel driven for content.
Agreed. I have family members who think every single space needs to be decorated. Instead of getting bookshelves and filling it with non-useful items you will have to end up dusting, it would look cleaner/airy with a beautiful large plant or extra large painting etc. The house is always gonna look cluttered with all the extra stuff. I mean all of this in the most respectful and construtive way possible. I know everyone has their own style, but there's always room for improvement
With kids, you can’t select quality items bc it’ll get broken quick. Having stuff everywhere is normal. Kids be hurt when they don’t have something/somewhere to place their things. Besides, who wants an empty space-to some it doesn’t looked lived in unless something’s there

It's nice to see the kids going thru the old pictures. Nothing like memories and story telling. Your home is just coming along beautifully. I agree about the high ceilings and tall baseboards. My home is 169 years old. My parents added a 24'x24' living room with a whole wall a stone fireplace in 1973..,in 1979, they tore off the old porch and made a great room with kitchen, family room. I live here now alone at 59, back in my girlhood bedroom. Parents are gone now, but I host the family holiday meals. Immediate family left numbers around 53. That's just brothers, sisters and their families. We had 34 home in Nov for Thanksgiving. Cherish the pieces of furniture loved ones have gathered around. New isn't always the best. Much love to you and the family. Kids are growing up so fast.
If the kitchen floor is not done correctly the paint will start chipping and will look a complete mess, save your money until you have what you need to do it the way you really want. Its wasting money making do, we had our tiles boarded over as the builder said the tiles would be a good foundation, it looks great and the kitchen is so much warmer and pleasant to walk on. Looking forward to seeing what you do to the bathroom.
Just FYI, furniture polish on staircase steps can be hazardous. I have seen it happen!

Have you thought about just changing the color of the grout that may be even less costly, just an idea . Be sure to make some me time busy Lady ❤

I've never seen windows like that, those are so cool, I love how they lay open so you can clean both sides. I love older houses for all those little things you dont find in newer homes. Like the ironing boards that are mounted into the walls (although no one irons much any more), window locks that when you get all the paint off their eagle heads, stuff like that.

I'd like to suggest you and the kids clean as you go, I'm in a rut right now, and I'm doing something every time I get up and move around. It's a journey, but I'm getting there. You can get some more good cabinets at habitat for a little of nothing when you ready.

I think she does the cleaning herself mostly for the content of it. I agree the kids should help and maybe they do and we just don’t see that in her videos. With five girls in the family and they’re not little kids, the twins aren’t that old but still they can help. Her house should always be clean with that many girls in the house. With all that she does for them by working, taking classes, doing videos, running the kids to activities and doing the cleaning, you would think they would want to help so she wouldn’t have to do so much. Of course like I said, maybe she does make them help and we just don’t see that in her videos. Just my thought! I love her videos, and she is amazing not only as a person, but as a Mother, Daughter, Sister and friend.

My kids are all grown now but when they were home I would get up early Sundays, go shopping come home and prep for the week. Grew up on a home where my mother was like the military when it came cleaning and that carried over on me to my children. I tell people if you do one room a day then nothing gets out of control

I have 5 children, all adults now. But I made chore charts on poster board that I laminated so they could write on them w/dry erase. Their name plates where magnetic so I could move their names from one chore to the next every 2 weeks down one side. Chore where color coded w/tasked explained as bullets that they could check off as they do them daily or weekly, down the other side. This worked like a well oiled machine for me for years Now my girls do it w/their kids😂
The motivation was ALLOWANCE😂😂 They all got $10 a week (now we are talking about 90’ babies) they paid bills and was charged for undone chores.
I gave them $8 and $2 in quarters.
Each utility & undone chore was .25€ a week or per chore.
When all chores where done right every week, they got $2 extra. Which really meant they got to keep the whole $10😂 but bills where due regardless.
Allowance did increase as they aged. But this is still a thing in my family. I can say it was really advantageous in teaching them to budget, pay bills, work together and it prevented confusion when it came to who was to do what, when and I rarely dealt with chores not being done since we had a weekend activity almost every week. IDC if it was movie night in the back yard. It kept them accountable and anticipating the SPEND on the weekend😂😂 it was the best home organizing system in the world for ME🙏🏾
Raising 5 kids and being the sibling in a home of 5 is A LOT on it’s own.

the table now . Just replace the chairs for now , with second hand finds .That would it you through another year .You did an amazing job on the buffet , table and chairs. Really love your work and knowledge of these products that you use in the process.

A suggestion, move the cabinet next to the wall and place the litter box on the left side of the cabinet, if there is enough room. I hated seeing the litter box when I had a cat.

I love that you have 2 trash cans in kitchen. I did the same in my kitchen and it been a few less trips to the trash. We do the scented trash can liners and I will try the baking soda hack you did too

I had the same kitchen table and furniture for 12 years and I just got all new this year. I absolutely love my new stuff but my old stuff definitely served its purpose. Its take sooo much time to save up money.

I like to clean as well. I have an apartment. I thought about buying a home. It is a lot of responsibility that comes with owning your home. I like the idea, but I am still not sure. The apartment I have is a nice size and it is a lot to clean. I love the idea of not renting anymore. I want something of my own.

You can also bleach the grout and then buy dye for cement and color your grout lines any color you want.
You can use the tile grout redone. Also there are tile pens that can change the color of the grout.

Why don’t you re- grout your kitchen floor with a lighter color instead of painting the floor until you are able to replace it. Just an idea. I’ve done that before.

I think you should paint the island first before painting the floor , maybe black or dark gray it might kind of have eyes look there instead of floor if that makes sense and kind of also blend in better if that makes sense, maybe black or dark gray . And even the bottom cabinets all painted a dark gray color or black would blend better i think . The floors are beautiful , real tile , just looks dirty against the white .. thats what i think and would do at least edit to add , navy blue ; then it ties in with dining room too lol

It breaks my heart that she displays her kids. I wish she would edit them out. It's too dangerous. We don't need to know their schedule. These folks can be brutal. This is the only show I watch that put the kids on video. I pray she'll listen. I want her to be successful. Be like Michelle Obama. Protect those little girls.

It’s not that we’re being judgmental, the fact is we see her working so hard and the kids running back-and-forth doing nothing. It’s hard not to think that her kids do nothing to help her. I’m sure they’re great kids but like most kids, we spoil them. I know a couple videos ago she said that she took their electronics away because they weren’t doing their chores. I wanted to tell her all you have to do is go in and change your Wi-Fi password and they wouldn’t be able to use electronics anyway. Just a thought. I love her videos and her family.
