We had a medical emergency at my work today while brushing stuff in the woods. After everything was said and done and EMS got him to the hospital, it made me research more into First Aid kits. Randy’s kit on the back of his saddle has me curious, what is in your guy’s ideal IFAK. I’d like to be as prepared as possible just getting into this trade and like seeing other people’s insight. Climb safe 🔥

Limbing is perfect for battery saws, imho. I tried the same husqvarna with a 200 battery for bucking 16 inches firewood and it drains the battery SOOOO much faster. It lasted about 2/3 of a single fuel tank. Nonetheless, battery chainsaws are very nice if used for the correct job.

Twas after Thanksgiving, I was slumming on the Tube.
It was a Titan Tech video I had decided to peruse.
While watching the video, I sat up with a Jerk, there on the screen was a young man at work.
It was the “Bird” looking to cut a big section of tree.
Alas for the poor saw it was not meant to be.
Perhaps it was Jakes little ankles that kept him from climbing.
After the incident there certainly was whining.
Mistakes had been made long ago in the past.
Kevin comes to mind, but these issues they don’t last.
And by all accounts Kevin turned out just fine.
All things considered Jacob didn’t even seem to mind.
So, the “Bird” will keep learning.
    The world will keep turning.
In the end it will all be just dandy.
Thank heaven above at least we have Randy!

Use the 536 still, that'll run longer on a 200x or a b40-220x. The 540i is my preferred saw, with this saw it matters if you have a pre 2023 saw, or a post 2023. The newest one has an oil level warning system and heated handles, those will use up more power. And the 542i is stronger and faster. Its also heavier. You'll like that one more for take downs. Burns trough power quicker too. This one also has the option of heated handles. The oil warning is standard.
Love em all! I also tried out the older stihl saws, echo, and dolmar makita. The newest stihl was the bigest let down because of the on off switch you constantly have to press in.
The 540i has developed a problem with saw dust getting into the space where the spring for the brake lives. I have to clean that out daily otherwise the brake can't be disengaged anymore... takes 4 screws to do that and they'll strip out eventually.
    Have a great day!
    Lars

I thought it was bloody heavy and that was bare tool no batt, also thought the chain brake lever felt a bit chintzy. I've got the little echo dcs2500t and it super light in comparison. I find for small branches like what you was doing, it so nice to use on 1/4. Granted it doesn't have the power of the husky but will cut 12inch no probs.
