- This is a delicious tuna melt sandwich with green onion, celery, parsley, cheddar cheese, and I will show you how to cook it perfectly, grill marks and all. Did I mention butter? Yes, you must use real butter!

Tuna Melt Recipe:
== Ingredients ==
- 1 can skipjack tuna, drained
- 14 cup organic celery, finely diced
- 2 or 3 green onion, diced
- Garlic salt
- Pinch of salt
- Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. fresh organic parsley, chopped
- Mayonnaise
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- Butter from grass-fed cows
== Directions ==
Add the tuna, celery, onion, garlic powder, salt, lemon juice, and mayonnaise to a bowl and stir to combine well.
Place a good amount of tuna mix onto one slice of bread and add the cheese on top. Place the 2nd piece of bread on top. Add some softened butter to the outside of the bread and place it butter side down onto a cast iron grill pan.
Add more butter to the top piece of bread and cover with a lid or piece of foil. This will help the cheese melt.
Once golden brown, turn over the sandwich with a spatula and cook on the second side (covered) until the bread gets a nice golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Only wimps worry about mercury . You'd have to literally eat about a pound a day of tuna or swordfish or tile fish for 10 years to ANY effect at all .

Some people have health problems with their kidneys and liver, so mercury would exacerbate problems.

For those that are not big fans of raw onion, try a hit of onion powder instead. Accomplishes the same taste profile w out being overpowering. Agree that real butter is a must and it should definitely be on sourdough. My favorite sandwich!

A lot of fish, particularly tuna, contains some mercury. Your body does filter out mercury (very slowly), but it really shouldn't be a problem if you don't eat fish everyday.

I made this earlier and it was sooo good. It's not a sandwich we have in the UK so I'd never had one before but I didn't have celery and used garlic mayo and a touch of paprika, also blue cheese and cheddar...I put the butter in the griddle pan instead of on the back of the bread but it turned out amazing. Thank you for this recipe that I will be making from now on.
