      Ola, do you just open the plugins and play?
      Whenever i open my Overloud TH 3 and play my guitar directly into it, it sounds muddy and canned.
      But if i record my guitat tracks in a DAW first and then process them via Overloud - they sound okay.
      What's wrong?
      How do you guys just plug and play a vst ?
      Chain: guitar - focusrite 2i2 2nd gen - pc (asio driver)

      Ola Englund hey ola can U put this in your next faq I’m curious about what it took for u to write your solo album what was your process would u write like u were with the haunted with a drummer and etc or would write something then play something that sounded better and add it to that riff and add like supriour drummer or somthing what was your recording process did u do it in your home or in a third party studio and was it something that was hard for yourself or was it easy and anyone one of us(subs) could do it

    Axiom is my fave amp software. They think completely differently to other devs. The three building blocks not only make amps, they make tape sims, EQs, strange efx which aren't even trying to be "amps", etc. And their low and mid gain amps are done better by them than anyone. Chimy Fenders and Vox (- like sounds), in which you can hear the power tubes breathing. And that labyrinth surrounding the main window can be jacked with freely, and you can place efx before or after the amp setup. And their reverb/delay system is like an entirely other plugin in its own right. It's very deep in what you can do with it. Axiom is great. If whoever's reading this is trying to decide, just buy it.

With that MIDI learn feature, you can set effects to those stomp style buttons, and with the dual expression, you can essentially run Axiom in Axiom with Technically an A, B, C and D channel controlled by both expression pedals.

    Aside from the new sounds in axiom you can do the same thing in reaper with custom actions bound to MIDI. All you have to do is make actions that solo different tracks, or put them into record mode. There’s a few ways to do it. Might be mind blowing for those in a walled garden like pro tools but I’ve been doing this exact same thing for quite a while now.

      Element vst host can also do it, its free. And you have a cheaper thing for Axiom, Blue Cat's PatchWork, that is cheaper, but will be without all Axiom amps and effects, and A/B mix. But that Late Replay delay in axiom need to be investigated because its very complex, of lot of thing to manipulate. Revalver can also host other vst, but also without A/B mixing.

  • @irrelevantfish1978
    @irrelevantfish1978 4 года назад +2

    Dude, you missed the coolest and most unique features of the plugin: those that allow you to effectively CREATE your own gear. You can do everything from tweaking the conventional (like changing the center frequency of the treble knob on a Fender Twin) to birthing crazy hybrids (like an AC30 that "cleans up" into a Mesa Boogie) to summoning horrors from guitar techs' worst nightmares, and that's just in the amp section. Many of the FX are also heavily customizable, particularly BlueCat's delay (I'm blanking on the name), which is almost as tweakable as Axiom itself (you can actually arpeggiate the repeats).
    Yeah, Axion may be a great way to combine, organize, and route third-party plugins, but if that's all you use it for, you're REALLY missing out.

  • @alfaalex101
    @alfaalex101 5 лет назад +3

    Probably what was most interesting to me is how you can shape the pre-amp with an IR. You can get all those nuances between Marshall amps and tighten them up as you please. It makes BIAS Amp seem like child’s play without being overwhelming like other modellers (revalver). Oh - and the sound quality is great, it got a near perfect score from honest amp sim reviews .com That and the effects sound great for guitar, they aren’t all whacky and inapplicable. I also tried re-guitar in the axiom and it works amazing turning my P90 into a chunky chug machine. All in all, amazing.

    • @xPowerShotx
      @xPowerShotx 4 года назад

      I tried this out, the high gain amp modeling is plain bad, the clean tones are fine, the crunch just ok. The A/B mixing seams to be the strong point, and that it can host other vst. There are free alternative, but miss the A/B mix. Like revalver can host other vst, and the free option Elements vst hoster. To convince me, just try to get a good plexi tone out of axiom. You wont make it, not even with an IR's on this one. If your really got the amp sim in this one as a perfect score you beat me, it cant be biased views.
      But as an vst hoster and setups it has potensial in the way you can ad your own stuff in to it.

    I've been using Bluecat's Patchwork for a long time, I love it. It does the same things but without any built-in amps or effects. I don't think it has A to B switching either...so same but different. I like that it loads a good bit faster than my DAW. It is also about $50 cheaper than Axiom. So if you already have your own favorite guitar sims and don't need any more, Patchwork is a good alternative.

    Peavy Revalver has been doing this better and longer than Blue Cats in my purely subjective
    opinion. Its not a fact, only what I can say I much rather prefer. Ola, hes f-ing bad ass. He can make a pile of crap sing like Whitney! I'm not that good. So I rely on the gear quite a bit more. And I cant say that I really cared for the Blue Cats amps and effects. mostly used it when I wanted to pitch shift cause that works well, and their new pick up simulator is bad ass. But if you ask me, much better quality amps with 3rd party plugin options is Revalver 4. And the ACT pickup simulator is unmatched from anything Ive played yet, keeping in mind i havent used BIAS Fx2 yet. But Revalver4 has been out for years, so I'm really hoping to see a v5. BTW, the ACT isnt just to make your guitar sound like another generic pick up, Like Blue Cats. you have modern option, vintage, single coil, acoustic etc in BC. But Peavy ACT actually has guitar models, you pick from a Les Paul, PRS, Tele, Strat, nylon string, steak string. Martin HD28, Takamine, Firebird, on and on and ontop of the acoustic/electric models, you have Bass guitar option and they sound great! Its not just a 12 semitone pitch shift to make guitar sound like bass. You get an actual bass guitar sound. And if all these options weren't enough, every guitar has the correct amount of pickup selector selections. So the Liberator with EMG 81-60 pickups has Neck, Bridge and Both, and each one of those has a Standard or Drop B tuned option. The Strat has 5 way pickup simulations. The bass guitars have Pick or finger simulations with 3 way or 5 way pickup selector simulation and acoustic guitars have simulations have finger picking, Pick strumming, various mic position simulation and pizeo simulations. Revalver has been doing this longer than Blue cats and even on an older platform, their amps dominate blue cats in tone and you have 3rd party plugin options. all my gear was Stolen, so I have to play on an $80 Rok Axe. Its sucks so bad, its missing a string, the nut is broken so I reset it so the 5 unbroken slots match up with the 5 stings I have. 2 bolts in the neck joint snaped so theres only 2 bolts holding it together. and I have to play into a 2004 M-Audio Fast track that hasnt has driver support since 2012. But I PHCUKING LOVE GUITAR, so If its all I can play, its what I will play till hopefully one day being able to afford to replace the gear I dont make enough money to pay for. so I always load Revalver on my input signal and use the Pickup simulation just to get a half way decent usable DI. I can only imagine how good itll sound when I can at least upgrade to a $200 Ibanez and a newer Focusrite solo or something. Hopefully before I die I'll be able to buy a SOLAR guitar. I dont care if I can only afford one the day before I die, bury me with it! Cause a Solar guitar is my dream!!

      Element vst host can also do it, its free. And you have a cheaper thing for Axiom, Blue Cat's PatchWork, that is cheaper, but will be without all Axiom amps and effects. But that delay in axiom need to be investigated because its very complex, o lot of thing to manipulate.

    Looks and sounds great, any latency problems?

      I was wondering this myself - is latency better than running through a DAW.

      From what I hear on the video, it's pretty seamless.

    • @martinc9750

      I use it, similar to how he shown it, I’m at 4.9ms latency, which obviously isn’t noticeable one bit...

      Its not cpu hungry, and shut down cpu usage when not in use.

    It would have been better if you call this review "Plugin Host" and take the Blue Cats Patchwork and make another review with just the Axiom Amps only :)

    By the way. How does this compare to the Peavy revalver 4 since this one also loads 3rd part plug ins? Anybody With experiance?

    • @aris9125

      Nothing beats Revalver 4

    • @xPowerShotx
      @xPowerShotx 4 года назад

      The amp sim in revalver is much much better. Try out the axiom demo for you self. But axiom has some interesting additions, like mention here in the video. But axiom need to do something heavy on their amp sim sound. The high gain amp modeling is plain bad, the clean tones are fine, the crunch just ok.

    Next logical step would be BluCat putting out their own pedalboard that stores what you set up on the computer. That way you could use a computer live without a computer, I guess

    • @samaudioyt
      @samaudioyt 5 лет назад +1

      at this point is just a preamp modeller that works with pc plugins, like an helix with all the stuff made of plugins. would be extremely cool

    Great cleans but the hi gain left a lot to be desired. Neural DSP Timeless or Granophyre still the best for that.
