I just rewatched this video from when you first released it. I just came back from the beach with a couple hundred sand fleas. I’m giving this a try tomorrow.
This was GREAT! I thought I learned a lot from the old timers in Tuckerton. It's great to learn a new technique. Keep videos like this coming. Have you ever tried using night crawlers for saltwater fish when resources are scarce? My father used to use them in Quincy MA for winter flounder. I know white perch love them (what don't white perch like) Maybe you can use these crabs for the monster taug under Steel Pier (summer breeding). Great yak fishing there. Stripers hide in the wash there also (all summer).
Yeah it’s definitely a great resource to have in the cooler months when bait is hard to find. Yeah I use nightcrawlers every once in a while, for like king fish & spot
Very informative, thanks. This, along with your video on preserving blood worms, which can cost an arm and a leg. Grab and go makes sense for me given the 1 1/2 hour driving time each way to the water.
Hi, thank you for posting videos like this !! Question, I have seen people boil them until they float, so you go sometimes to that point or just around those 45 sec all the time ?
Soooo how did they hood up from last year? Soften up or stay hard pretty well after freezing? Also, do you use them for tog bait too? Wondering how these would work vs green crabs.
So I’ve been using last year‘s batch these past few weeks and they are pretty solid. They still hold a decent scent and catch fish for sure. They are one of my favorite Tog baits, not as messy as green crabs and just as effective
@@609Fishing appreciate the reply. Where do you fish out of? I fish out of little egg inlet. I bought the sand flea rake you were using. Should be here in a few days. Going to see if I can stock up on some bags of sand fleas to freeze for sheeps and when tog rolls around.

Did something similar with mussels when I was a kid with my Dad. Kingfish loved them
I would definitely be interested in doing something like that, there’s a ton of mussels around right now.
Do you just salt the mussels or just blanched them like sand fleas? Thanks

I just did it 45 seconds. Honestly i’m finding that freezing them alive is way better than boiling them. Especially , if you vacuum seal it.
