Good Going Anthony. Try raking the sand instead of digging in one spot. Also look to another area as the crabs can feel you walking above them. Stay back from the waves, look for the V's in the sand and pull the rake towards you. You did a Great job and i so like your enthusiasm. Great Job. Gerry in Florida.
Thanks for the video, this will definitely help me avoid spending $50 on a fabricated one!! The one piece of advice I have is a stationary camera, the camera moved a lot and the operator was making a ton of noise.
Like pelo projeto e criatividade.
Great idea and nice video! Next time try to step closer to the water and you will be rewarded greatly. I noticed that you always stayed at the very edge of the foam. Your pants might get a little wet, but you can just roll them up and what you get is worth it. I've been to many beaches in California, and regardless of the weather or tides, they always seem to hang out there. If you really don't want to get wet, you can also just dig deeper into the sand and you may sometimes find big ones as well. Another thing is some areas on the beach hold more sand crabs than others so if you haven't found much even after doing everything mentioned above, it's a good idea to try somewhere else. Hope this helps!
Great tool, probably saved $30-$40 over a new one. But y’all should watch some YT videos on how to harvest sand fleas. The mesh is actually referred to as hardware cloth and you need 1/4” size. Try to find used, it’s very expensive. Keep up the good work!
You will catch more at night. Don't forget that they can see you and they feel your vibrations when u walk. You should be catching at least a dozen at a time. Also your loosing fleas because your rake teeth are way to long. So a easy fix is to cut a strip of mesh about two inches wide by the width of the rake and tie strap them on
The big ones are getting in between the tines of the rake. It seems most sand flea rakes have a flat edge. You might do better putting the mesh on the other side of the rake
Thanks for the tip! Didn't know they'd dig deeper if they see you. I've always just looked for them as the water was going out. Thanks so much for watching!
@@AnthonyFongFishing Thanks Anthony for the reply. Sorry for the misspelling, it was to be tines. That way if you reversed it, you dont have the tines in the way, and it will be more like a store purchased scoop, look at it and let me know what you think. Have a very good fishing day.
I made my flea scoop just like yours, Thanks! I did bend the head of the rake so it is easier to drag it toward yourself.
Awesome! Happy the video helped! Hope you catch lots of bait! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video, I use the rake I made from this video in my fishing channel on Utube! Tight lines!
Thanks for the support!
best one so far! 🔥
Thanks for watching!

Nice presentation!
Thank You so much Andrew! Really appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Brilliant
Thanks!
wow great idea.I will definitely try this
Thank you so much! You really should! It’s so convenient to have!
You should reverse the tines so they are on the inside
Good idea, it would probably go through the sand better that way! Thanks for the suggestions and thanks for watching!

Cool.
Great idea
Thank you so so much! Thanks for watching!
Looks great. Gonna rust but will work well for awhile.
Thanks! So True, it'll rust out eventually, but still beats paying big bucks for store bought ones haha! Thanks so much for watching!
Me pareció una muy buena idea. Muy buen video y formato. Saludos desde Peru
Muchas Gracias! Peru es maravilloso!
@@AnthonyFongFishing cusndo desees puedo ser tu anfitrión en Arequipa que es el sur del perú... Muy buenas playas y muy buenos peces
I’m definitely making this, beats the $80 ones on Amazon
Yes! Use materials around the house! Way cheaper! Thanks so much for watching! Really appreciate it!

Thank you! This helps a lot, I agree moving around and getting deeper would probably yield a better scoop! Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks so much for the tips and the kind words! We were just using whatever we could find in the shed haha! Thanks for watching!
I am going to make me one like that man😀😀😀👍👍👍👍
Yay sounds good! Thanks so much for watching!
Yep saving money is my thing
Same here! Thanks so much for watching!
Where is this beach?
This was Half Moon Bay State Beach! Thanks so much for watching!

Sneak up on them. They can feel your every foot step from 15ft away. They can see you very well too. Much love to you and all.
Thanks for the tip and kind words! I didn't know they were so sensitive to movement! Thanks for watching!

Are these the sand fleas that are called ‘Jiggers’ or the Chigo flea in Kenya that are horrible to people who have sand floors in their huts.
Haha nooo they are different, these sand crabs are harmless! Jiggers are actually smaller and look more flea like! Thanks so much for watching!
@@AnthonyFongFishing that is great to know. Thanks for answering. Have fun.
Best to leave before grampa catches you....heh.
He’s never gonna notice, if gram goes in their is so much stuff in the shed you can’t even tell the difference
Would be better if opposite side of the rake
True, will take note for next time, it would glide through the sand better! Thanks for watching!
Did he say his name was Stevie Wonder Stevie wonder the fisherman
You need to do more editing. Even take 3 or 4 days to shoot then cut and paste the. Lips till it looks good.. easy to tell your new at this
I hope you asked grandpa.😁
Haha don't worry, I'm allowed anything in the shed! Basically a gold mine to explore lol! Thanks so much for watching!
They live in groups you have to look for there eyes looking at you as they will dig deeper if they see you
Thanks for the tip! Didn't know they'd dig deeper if they see you. I've always just looked for them as the water was going out. Thanks so much for watching!
They can feel you as well. Walk into the sun and you will see the colonies. You can't see them as well with the sun to your back. Dawn and dusk.
@@ConcernedCitizen1957 Gotta sneak up on em like actual fish lol! Thanks so much for the insight!
You should have reversed it, have the tines up, secure the mesh to it that way.
Just another posibility...
True, thanks for the advice! Thanks for watching!

I knew you could make that thing with zip ties. 70 bucks for a rake. Come on.
I know right, nothing a little elbow grease can't solve! Those store bought ones are such a rip off! Thanks for watching!
Hahaha
That’s NOT the way you catch sand crabs 😂😅
Bad acting 🤦♂️
You got a good eye! Haha!
