I saw Jeff at Port Royal when they honored John & Pee Wee Zemaitis around 2015. Asked him to autograph a diecast of the 4J he drove. He was the same charismatic dude he always was! 😊 Long live The Jet!!
Jeff raced with us for a full season and part of a second one in the 92 car. We won more All Star features than anyone that season as well as the one and only 1200 lb. Nationals at Knoxville. We loved racing with him, he is a real character! Take a lookback at some of our custom paint jobs including best appearing at the nationals with our american flag scheme.

I remember going to Eldora with Tom Schmeh and the Agan family - all of us huge Jeff Shepard fans - and I'm guessing Jon Agan was around 14. Jeff got into a horrible crash in corner 2 and was transported to the hospital. Meanwhile, Jeff's glasses were missing and I believe it was Jon that found them hanging on the fence near the crash site. Certainly not a fond memory of Jeff, but certainly ties in with the Knoxville crash - as like most drivers - had his fair share of bad crashes. We were all upset about it all during the trip back to Iowa the next day, as he was such a good an exciting driver, and we hated seeing this all happen to him. Sprint car racing certainly has its ups and downs...and the downs can unfortunately be the parts of your memory that haunt you. I wish nothing but the best for Jeff going forward, and thanks to Sprint Car Nation for putting this video together.
Thank you for your input! I heard he had gotten in a bad crash back in the Eldora in the 77 car, tried doing some research on it and couldn’t find one single piece of information on it. Out of all the drivers I’ve covered on this channel, I gotta say Jeff was probably the most beloved driver from fans and drivers.
@@slidejobdom Yes, it was kind of 'pre-internet' (so not lots of results/recaps available) and I think it was 1995...+/- a year...but I think it was 1995 because in 1996 Fred Rahmer was in the 77 car. And in 1998 Jeff was in a Maxim (while I was GM there) driving the 4j car.
Jeff was a bad ass and a great guy. Im glad i got to know him a little bit through a mutual freind.

I love both racing and wrestling and Of the wrestlers had cte in the head so it kinda reminds me of that like it could of been worse for Jeff
