    Very full of information video, about everything to do with the spindle, & spindle housing & the 2 bearings. You do such a good job at explaining it. Now I kinda wonder about the type of bearings I have inside mine.

      It's been 2 months, so I just re-watched he whole video. I can only like it 1x wished I would of ordered some bearings with shields
      ahead of time as long as it's apart for cleaning and painting. Now I cant wait to get out there and see if I have open / closed, type.

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  3 года назад +1

      I’ve had some I’ve had to beat off with a hammer, typically it ruins the blade mounting bar but it doesn’t seem to hurt the spindle shaft itself I’ve had some I actually cut them in half with a Dremel tool and broke them off that way. Jim

      @@jimjackson9381 I tried everything, nothing would hold the shaft from spinning, munged up the threads on the pulley side trying to double nut, but I can fix them I think. Finally I pulled out a plumber's wrench which I've never really used before, it held the shaft like nobody's business. Blade holder in vice and some elbow grease and it's off now. Least I can hopefully use a 3/4-16 die on this one and the other should be all good. I should make a video and post it

    Great video 👍👍.
    This video is the only 1 I've found on how to remove the blade adaptor
    I didn't know the adaptor spun off the shaft 👍👍.
    My concern the nut (Locking) holding the adaptor on is ONLY precaution to keep the adaptor from spinning off?
    Also my concern if their was a lock washer or flat under the lock nut, which u didn't show, meaning their NO washer?

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  4 года назад +1

      No there is not a lockwasher under the nut on the blade mounting bar but usually you will have your hands full trying to get the bar off, let me know if you have any issues and need any help. Jim

    I have a 30 inch 10 horsepower old school Snapper just like the one you're showing. I'm trying to locate Japan or American made spindle bearings. Every place that I have called or visited said the only people that makes that bearing is in Taiwan. is there anyway I can get a better bearing than that junky Taiwan bearing? Thanks so much

    Good video and tips. Can you tell me how free the spindle should spin? Mine are pretty stiff, that is, they don't turn freely and are quite noisy.

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  4 года назад

      If a bearing turns stiff that necessarily does not mean it’s bad a barrier and should not spin freely for 30 seconds of bearing if it is new will spin stiff but it should not be noisy or it should not be rough if it is then it’s bad. Jim

    Hey Jim My spindle flange weld is cracked . Would you weld it or buy a new spindle ? Great videos.

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  3 года назад +1

      Well I will try to weld it first but you’re gonna have to disassemble it and get all the grease out of the inside of it and clean it then I would either have to be wire brushed or sandblasted and if that doesn’t work then I would buy a new housing not an entire spindle. Jim

    If it's a really tight fit for your bearings, can you just chill them? Or does that damage the shielding?

      Will Black
      I will it's Jim and it won't hurt to put the bearings in the freezer that will shrink them a couple thousands and if you have to you can put the spindle housing in the oven around 200°, but if you do this make sure you get the bearings in the right position because when they both equalize temperature you won't get them apart let me know how it turns out talk to you soon Jim

      ANDERSONEXPRESS7 I'm responding on your questions on the snapper typically you do not need to grease the bearings in your spindle most bearings are greased for life if your bearings are making noise or if your blade is vibrating the bearings are already shot and greasing is not gonna help them . Your other question on the chain case why is there only one on one side actually your chain case hangs in the middle of the Axle your differential is on the right-hand side hooked to the right hand fender it works a lot like your differential in your old cars there was only one in the center of the axle that drove both tires The differential on the snapper mounted on one side Drive both tires I hope this helps if not email me and I'll answer your questions thanks for your interest and comments talk to you soon Jim
