Most of these are unfunded, meaning that they are largely paid out of annual tax revenues and the bill for them is being passed on to future generations because today’s government is not putting money aside to cover them.
The future generations wont pay it, we're in a birthrate implosion due to absolutely no policy to help people become new parents. At our current rate there wont be enough young people to pay the pensions in 2 or 3 decades. The problem is much much worse than you think.

I turned into a pessimist of this country the second we the brexit referendum declared we were leaving. You vote for your local MP, and only your local MP. The PM is selected by the King based upon who has the support of the majority of MPs. There is never a direct democratic link between the voters and the PM.
