Created by Krin Juangbhanich, Sonny. One of the most underrated but most loved Flash Games by the "Armor Games" community as well as on 'newgrounds' and anyone who has come across this gem in 'BlueMaxima flashgame' , it's story is, was and always will be amazing... it's sad that instead of making a third game for closure to a good story, they opted to reboot it and turn it into a mobile game (which the mobile version is decent) but it's as if by doing that they abandoned something really good that would have escalated for more.
I need to disagree with the mobile port being decent. They completely changed the story, armor doesn't change what characters look like, and is effectively a totally different game.
Thanks ArmorGames, keeping our childhoods alive. The other day I saw one of my students playing Happy Wheels on his phone, now THAT made me happy to see
You seen one of your students playing happy wheel? Wow I'm getting old. I remember when I was the kid playing it in class. It's really cool to hear that some flash games are still being kept alive though
To ellaborate on what people commented: Sonny 3 went through the equivalent of dev superhell, having been worked on basically during or after a Sinjid game was being released, but it overlapping for close to a decade with other projects, Krin's personal and professional life until ultimately Krin vanishes off the face of the internet only to suddenly come back and post again. On Krin's now defunct websites (yes, websites, he had two or three, one for himself as a personal one, for his studio or more pro game dev career that also was a migration from his older one) he had actually commentated on having had cancer which would dramatically affect his game making going forwards before his vanishing. This was announced in one of the websites. Likewise, if you were to have checked like I did after Sonny's reboot drops and rebrands from Sonny 3 into a reboot, you would also know that it seems like Krin actually managed to beat cancer to continue working on Sonny 3 long after abandoning working on it and having it be the first real commercial game project he ever intended to make. I cannot confirm by myself many details as my memory is imperfect and before Krin vanished once again and stopped paying for his website servers nobody archived much of the page BUT! There is a sonny fan discord that can corroborate or even provide more info than I
Thanks for the comment! I actually used the way back machine to look at one of his websites while making one of my Sonny videos (can't remember which one) But I didn't find a lot of useful information on it unfortunately. I hope Krin is doing well these days
@@TheLovelyScrub I hope the same as well. Krin seems like he became a professional coder or programmer or website designer for his actual work career. I have some hopes armorgames got a hold of him to get his permission to publish the legacy collection
I've investigated on krin a while and seems like now he moving onto Amazon software developer or something along that line, probably putting those skill he got over the year to different use which is good for him, maybe on day he could work on game again but as of now seem highly unlikely
I'm sad that the creator of Sonny stopped at 2 just to make that mobile version of Sonny, which is a weird mishmash between reboot and sequel. Where it retcon many things and change them a lot. Also, the graphics became way too simplistic to the point that they are just stock images. And can't forget how unfair the game is for no reason. Even if you grind a lot, it won't be enough. Even the training area will give you the enemies you couldn't beat.
Personally I havent played the remake, and I havent heard many good things about it. Atleast we still have the first 2 games! (though a 3rd would be so sick lol)
@@TheLovelyScrubi have played all of them. So when i found out about Sonny release for mobile, i was really surprised and happy and when i played it, there's is a LOT of difference between original Sonny and the one i played on mobile (i didn't know it was a reboot until few years later). And because of that, i stopped at chapter 4. Few years later, i suddenly remembered about Sonny again and i decided to give him a chance, and i kinda liked it, I liked the artstyle, music, characters, and story too, surprisingly. The only problem, it's too hard, and i haven't finished it until now, this time i stopped at chapter 6 Personally, Sonny reboot is a good game to me, not as good as Sonny 2 or even 1, but good enough on its own P.s: Kara (one of your party members), the female ZPCI spec ops, is kinda hot
Sonny, Kingdom Rush, and Crush the Castle were all Armor Games’ best exclusives. Personally I have a soft spot for the Protector tower defense games and the rpg spinoffs, though they were also on Kongregate (though the Armor Games versions were unique!)
Did they ever say why they never made the third game? I remember playing these back in the day and loving them. They're easily some of the best flash gamrs ever made.
I remember that Krin was fighting... Cancer? There was a huge medical deal that we all held our breath on. For me personally, I was so excited he came through, medically... But when I saw the "new" Sonny release, I just felt nothing but depression. It was watching Halo flush down the drain all over again. It was... A very embarrassing way to see Krin step into Steam. I understand the desire to port to mobile, but this was a flash game from the start... How does the flash game variant have BETTER interactions & quality? Back when games were a form of art...
Yeah I definitely didn't include the bonus zone, but only because of time restraints. I was given the steam key like 4 days before you were allowed to talk about the game, which was only 3 or 4 days earlier than the launch of the game. So I had about a week to record, script and edit the video. And then for this video I had a major issue with an editor I was hiring to help me get it done on time, and that actually ended up making the whole thing take way longer. This video was in "development hell" essentially lol
@@vellothedreepy5930 well I was given a steam key with early access to the game. I was legally allowed to post a video about it as early as the 26th, in advance of the release date of the 30th. So technically I could've spent more time, but, not posting it early would have negated the advantage of having early access. In the end the video was still 4 days late from when I could've uploaded it, and 2 days late from when I planned on unloading it
Hey I don't know if you take suggestions but could you do a video on Sift heads. It's point and click stealth game where you control a stick figure and aim a sniper rifle and do missions.
@@Venominja9079 no sir! I just started a new channel to make real content instead of daily live streams. It's going A LOT better here and I'm MUCH happier!
I disagree on the nothing interesting happens in the tunnel of illusions I remember you get to fight a zombie that looks just like how Sonny did in the first game. When you beat it, it gives you an uber powerful version of the rusty pipe weapon he first used in Sonny 1. also there is a wolf boss that turns your characters into a wolf for three turns. this might seem like a detriment but being a wolf actually boosts their attack power massively, making the battle easier than it is.
So I've just did a investigation on the game creator krin ( by putting his name on google ) and it said on LinkedIn that he been working on computer science work for Amazon and google around the time he went offline with his game making, unless it's a big coincidence, it seems like krin just change his career which is great for him, all i could hope is maybe he might return one day or heck he might be cooking up something in secret who knows, hope for the best
