This game has influenced me in a huge way as a child of 4 years. As time passed, and like the world of termina, I replayed events of this game for years as I grew. It taught me something new each time like how everything had an opposite, how every light cast a shadow. And how some of the most beautiful things we cherish can be broken and lost ever so easily. Everyone and everything that is precious to us can be taken away, be it by an unfortunate event or that something we lose within ourselves. The music played a massive role in my development because music is the most powerful method in conveying the truth of our feelings. It's one thing to hear music, it's totally different when you feel it. You just know there's a story in it, a lifetime of wisdom being told with a melody. Of all the games this one matured me quite a bit as a child, being able to recognize pain on a deeper level which as kid really left me in a place a lot of kids my age didn't understand. Majoras mask will always be my number one Zelda, it just held so much more meaning than saving the same woman over and over in other titles.
That's beautiful. This game taught me a lot too. I always felt the sadness and terror of this game. I never saw the colorful aspects of it really when I played it on the N64 as a kid. So many memorable moments in the game that left an imprint on me. I feel like the whole 'Ben Drowned' creepypasta helped show people how creepy this game really can be.
I just love how the music changes from very beautiful/sad to a horror movie theme. Man, if there would ever be a Zelda movie, I hope you guys are the ones who will animate this. I have seen Terrible Fate and this just looked PERFECT and I can say the same about this video here too. I am sure you would give us the perfect Majora's Mask movie :D
Ah wow. That's really kind of you to say. For the music, that's totally what I was going for. I was building up to the reveal of the mask and showing where the tentacles were coming from. I appreciate the kind words! I don't think I'll be creating a full movie of this ever. I just like to do fan art of my favorite game :) I'll still do some more Zelda art work, but in the future I have my own plans to do my own things!
There is just something about Majora's Mask. I don't know if it's the surprisingly dark lore, the exotic and ancient style, the excellent music or all three but...this game is LIFE!
This is amazing. It has that eerie slow burn that Majora's Mask captured at times. Very well animated. I almost feel like the mask has spread its influence throughout the forest by way of its tentacles, sucking up enough energy to move again.
I think it's my favourite game because the fact that Majora's Mask isn't a "normal" The legend of Zelda game. Unlike the others, there's no Hyrule, no legend, no prophesy, No Zelda (at least not as an important character). In Ocarina of time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, etc, you could predict how the game ends, Ganondorf getting rekt by Link, restoring peace in Hyrule, but here, the whole thing is different. At the beggining of Majora's Mask, there's nothing that makes you feel like you're actually progressing into the adventure, nothing that makes you know you are stopping that Moon to destroy everything, i mean, the uneasy feeling the Moon creates in the player every minute it's closer to the Earth, is real, is until the first time travel that the player finally knows he's doing something to stop the world destruction. Even the end of the game is weird for The Legend if Zelda standards, you are fighting for the world's fate inside the Moon that tries to destroy it, against a Mask. There's more i could mention, like the Death's Duel representation in the game's ubications and events, the meaning behind the Song of Healing effect, etc. But Majora's is still an Awesome game without knowing these facts.
Agreed. Very true about the beginning of the game, puts a lot of fear into the player no matter what age they are. The deeper meanings of Majora's Mask are why I like to work on fan arts like this. The game has so much more to tell I think. Thanks!
I'm for it! haha. I figured hundreds of years later the mask could eventually come back even more evil since it was defeated by the Hero of Time once. I imagined it waking up extremely pissed off.
The only thing is which link would take on the mask as by that time it’s been more than 10000 years since then and since Majoras mask is the only direct sequel we’ve had so far(I mean where we play as the same link as a different game) it is possible but unlikely, would love to play it tho
Twilight Princess is the idea Nintendo got from attempting a Majora's Mask sequel. So technically, Twilight Princess IS that follow up. As a matter in fact, the Hero's Shade IS the Hero Of Time as confirmed by Nintendo.
No matter how many times people ask which is my favourite Zelda game, it’s Majora’s Mask. Of all the games, I feel like it’s had the most influence on the imaginations of fans, myself included, and has produced some amazing fan productions, and this continues that trend.
I kinda wish a third game would be released where Ganondorf gets free and finds the mask. Puts it on, but the mask has a crack and can't take full control. So both of Link's greatest enemies team up to take over/destroy the world.
How dare RUclips not recommend this sooner!? XD This is totally rad, and would certainly make for an interesting setup, though I think the idea of the salesman just dropping the mask on the ground somewhere is kinda random. Like, if he thought the evil was gone forever, I imagine he'd keep it. But if he suspected some tiny piece remained, and that it could rise again, why wouldn't he just destroy it? Or do you like to think the salesman is, perhaps, just a bit wicked himself?
Haha thank you! Did this pop up in your recommended? If so, awesome. I implied he HID the mask, how he hid it is up for interpretation. Maybe he buried it and it resurfaced hundreds of years later digging itself out with it's tentacles, maybe he carved a hold into a tree and rested it inside it. Who knows. Maybe he is wicked ;)
Same! Thanks :) Yeah I got really excited when I started to think about what happens when everyone in Termina dies? I'm happy people are digging my alternate story.
This makes me want to cry, in a good way. So much talent and you can tell it’s created by someone who loves the world of Termina. Thank you for making this and sharing with those of us who wished we had more adventures revolving around the Majora’s Mask. You should really consider making a bigger project with this, it’s amazing!!
I got crazy bad goosebumps the moment the clock tower begun to tick. The screen shake made that moment feel so intense, with so much power emanating from the mask. This is an amazing example of 'show dont tell' silent story telling
These types of comments are my favorite. I like that my subtlety is being noticed by some. I appreciate your recognition of what I was trying to do with this video. Cheers and thank you very much for the kind response :)
I like the concepts of Majoras Mask, but it does bother me that there's a lot of reskins and direct transfers over from OOT... And not just the intentional stuff like the Skull Kid character, that I thought was well executed. I probably like OOT the most and how it's lore is essentially the center point of a time split... Though I would rank Majoras Mask high on any Zelda game list due to its use of time and oddly enthralling chaotic nature of the game.
Well, they made the game in a very short period of time and it was part of the lore of Termina, that it’s sort of parallel to Hyrule. No one knows for sure how or why they’re connected, but there have been quite a few theories going around about it over the years
@@corshmell Happy to support :) RUclips is ridiculously difficult to get content noticed these days so always happy to support small channels especially. My content some times does well when RUclips is feeling generous and othet times gets nothing haha
The graphics were great, but you didn't really show anything. The same scene was focused on for the majority of the video which the basic premise of what was happening was very clear within the first couple of seconds. Also, I wouldn't have chosen to play the Oath to Order while the mask is coming back to life. Sure it sounds nice, but thematically, what we're hearing goes against what we're seeing. The point of the Oath to Order is in the title, it's a vow to keep order, whereas Majora's Mask breeds chaos. Playing Skull Kids theme would've been more appropriate.
sebastian bruh I agree as well, I think seeing Majora regaining its strength and being able to see it visibly affecting the environment around it would’ve added more to the “creepy” factor. Which is also what I believe the tentacles were supposed to be showing, Majora’s power seeping from the mask once again to regain its strength, although I don’t think the whole screen shaking was really necessary either. Just seeing the dead leaves and trees surrounding the mask as it begins to slowly shake again would’ve been more than enough in my opinion. Although I never played Majora’s mask so I don’t know what the idea behind the mask floating up, almost detaching itself from the tentacles means. I know the mask CAN float, maybe it’s just detaching the old, worn out, used tentacles to grow new ones or something.
@@sebastianbruh6930 Those are the same tentacles that appear in the first stage of the battle with Majora itself. The mask uses them as it spins wildly at Link and he can only hurt it using the Fierce Deity's sword (in the Fierce Deity form) or the Great Fairy's sword as they are actually long enough to hit the mask. (And maybe Deku sticks too, but I've never tried it.)
I came here to say this. Its well done, but doesn't tell us more than "its baaaaack". I think the Song of Healing could've transitioned into the Skull Kids theme at least. Also the Day Counter beat being used as a heartbeat while shaking the camera threw me off.
Can't imagine how long it took just to make the trees look good. Then add the wind blowing on each blade of grass, the mask's tendrils creeping along the tree roots, the camera angles... This is professional quality.
That Song of Healing in this video was probably the best version I've ever heard. And man I would love if majora's mask had like a 3D Unreal Engine move adaptation. It's such a good story
Seriously, this is awesome. I also love Majora's Mask, its so incredibly immersive, I really do believe that it still one of the best game out there yet. A true masterpiece.
Can we have some people dress in high quality Majora's Mask/skull kid costumes, and run around slightly out of sight so we can have scarier alien sightings?
Perfect. This melody, the Song of Healing sounds so… mournful… Like the game itself it has its own heartbreaking atmosphere among its brethren. There’s just so much sadness, grief and loss in Termina that just is never so profound elsewhere. It’s not the eerie quiet and forlorn beauty of the Hyrule twinned with Twilight (which I will admit is my favourite), nor is it the wonder of the Sky or the Great Ocean or the grandeur of Hyrule in its prime. It’s not afraid, it’s not young, it’s just sad. And the old evil. Always waiting patiently while the good wither and pass on. Forgotten until it brings great sorrow anew.
I've been eating up a lot of Majora's Mask content lately, and stumbled upon this masterpiece. Makes me want a Majora's Mask film or a remaster that retells the story. Heck, I'll just take straight up Majora's Mask HD.
It's so beautifully done, i get beautiful memories when i played the game for the first time, Majora's Mask is my all time favorite Zelda game and generally my all time favorite game in the world, thank you very much for this masterpiece.
Love this game and finally finished it as an adult after giving up on it as a 6 year old. Amazing video. Were blessed to have such talented people spending their free time to create amazing content for this incredible experience. Thank you.
This was really well done. Nintendo should consider dlc like this for breathe of the wild or for the second one. I wouldn’t mind a wind walker version as well. The legend of Zelda should remain an infinite story with no end.
My GOODNESS this definitely got my heart pounding!!! Nostalgia, terror, anticipation, and several other things made me shiver!!! Extremely well made!!!
My thought process during the video: Ew, those worms are gross. Wait or are they tree roots? Oh gross, definitely worms. Why are the worms so long? Wtf OH SHIIIITTTT THOSE AREN'T WORMS
Great video. Its awesome to see people giving Majora's Mask the love it deserves as a game. Not a lot of people like this game but it's a gem!! This video deserves more attention it is so good!
Who TF is down voting this? I mean honestly. What 200+ people went out of their way to downvote this. Makes zero sense. People just love to not like things. Gives them a false sense of power. This is incredible dude. Watched it with amazement.
That would be a muuuuch bigger effort by a much bigger team. I did this one by myself haha. The Terrible Fate short film was done by a bigger team including myself.
This was a cinematic masterpiece no cheap jump scares, not much dialogue which I loved because I hate reading, and lastly it seemed to balance on horror (that’s what it seemed like to me) and just something you couldn’t describe you just earned a like and subscribe
Wow, thank you! That's very nice of you. And yeah I just wanted to show a continued story of MM and see how some extra horror behind it without it being too obvious.
I really liked the way the tendrils were made - looking like enormous earthworms, or veins, pulsing slightly as they moved, and most importantly constantly expanding, searching for something to consume...
And then an Hobbit found it- no wait, that's another story... Jokes aside, I've seen that this is not the first time you do something like this and both this and Terrible Fate are AMAZING! I wish Nintendo hyred you to make a full movie out of Majora's Mask because it would be so damn good and so damn worth it! Ahhh, I'd make the Moon fall for something like that!
Absolutely incredible work. The entire thing looked stunning, and the only flaw is that maybe it took a little long to get to the meat of it with the text. The materials, environments, atmosphere, lighting, it's all brilliant. So lovely! Wondering if this is the extent of this project, or if more is planned for the future? Keep it up!
Thank you! I'm not currently planning to make anything new in the near future. At least not something this big of a project again haha. Maybe something more simple.
Why can this genuinely be the start of a horror movie or something like that? It has such a genuinely unsettling atmosphere. This is really good, good job.
I've made my own theory about majora's mask. Keep in mind i played the amazing and dark sequel to OoT back in the day and loved it. Looking back at the stories in majora's mask i have to ask: what if the mask's power wasn't just a cursing from an ancient tribe, but rather a strong member of that tribe? What if the mask was made from the consequent embodiment of the most powerful interloper of the magic wielders who invaded hyrule, who was sealed away the malice of him inside the mask? What if Rauru was the one who hid the cursed mask deep beyond the lost woods between the Hyrule and Termina provinces under the order of the King of Hyrule, well before the events OoT? And what if Majora's Wrath form was a physical manifestation of Majora's true form not yet come to fruition, as the mask had not gained enough energy the previous host (the skullkid) to break free from it's imprisonment within? These were questions i had to ask because I've watched the timeline over and over again and wondered if certain sheikah warriors betrayed the king's trust who were punished with banishment to another dimesion (twilight realm) or death by guillotine (bongo bongo). I don't know the answers to this theory of mine, but it'd be awesome if it was true, and Majora breaks free in another sequel. This is yet another amazing sfm of majora's mask! I highly recommend making more!
This isn't SFM (source film maker) by the way haha. I did this all realtime inside Unreal engine 4. Thank you! I'd love to make more but they take a lot of time and effort haha. Your theory is pretty cool, I've had my own thoughts on the matter too. Majora is supposed to be some kind of god that was banished to dance forever or something. There's SOME lore behind it that Nintendo talked about. There's also some concept art of Ganon in Twilight Princess wearing some armor that has Majora's Mask insignia on it. It's pretty cool and implies some neat theories.
This is incredible dude this looks so amazing I love the details I love pretty much everything about this really great job you rule man Majora's Mask rules 😎
Dude I love what you did not only the beautiful environment but also how the music gave that perfect legend of Zelda atmosphere. You truly work hard on this. I really loved Majoras mask and I think this game should be so much more not only in gameplay but also in story. When I played this game for the first time in the Game Cube I did not understood a thing about it I was to young, but when I replayed it on the remastered version of the 3ds (I would love to get a port for the switch not gonna lie) I saw the beauty of every dark meaning that some how it led to light and even if it didn’t led to light the dark and sad messages had reason to be and we couldn’t argue about it.
Many years have passed, the young link has now passed on his legacy to another. The four giants now rest. The Majora Mask was reborn, to bring the end of the world again, but now all over the world. In a few days, the solar system will be hit by the supernova. Gosh, how I wanted this to be the plot for a new Zelda game!
According to the Hyrule Encyclopedia, Termina ceased to exist after Link left. But that friggin sucks, it has to come back! But, then again, it would be interesting if Termina is different every time, like as if it's a mirror world created by the thoughts and memories of whoever visits it, creating some kind of Alice in Wonderland kind of place.
Is majority of this done within Unreal Engine? I've been thinking about trying to learn it to make videos just like this but everything I read made it seem like it's not a good thing to be making videos. This bit of art is fantastic!
The entire video is entirely recorded inside Unreal Engine 4 :) I used Adobe Premier to edit the video clips together. I used Sequencer, which is a tool inside Unreal to do the camera movements. It was actually really easy. Unreal is great for making videos, it just takes a longer time to make environments or moving characters for the content you want to make.

Thank you :) That was my idea for the tentacles to suck up the life around the mask. The mask had to come back to life somehow!
@corshmell Somehow Palpatine has returned.
The music. The soundtrack of terror. The sound of the clock tower where we fought the great devil mask. Oh this game oh my goodness the chills.
Part III is definitely coming I feel (I'm considering "a terrible fate" as part I)
Haha I wiiish I had more time to make more :P
Thanks!
what the heck happened with zelda II for the nes you dont fight a stupid ganon
I think they should make a majoras mask sequel with this idea
I'm for it! haha. I figured hundreds of years later the mask could eventually come back even more evil since it was defeated by the Hero of Time once. I imagined it waking up extremely pissed off.
While breathe of the wild 2 is going on the mask is getting stronger. After BOTW2 has been out for a while they should make majora’s mask 2.
The only thing is which link would take on the mask as by that time it’s been more than 10000 years since then and since Majoras mask is the only direct sequel we’ve had so far(I mean where we play as the same link as a different game) it is possible but unlikely, would love to play it tho
Majora is kinda like the equivalent to Ganon so it would make sense. It would be sick
Maby this will be the evil of BOTW2
Ok, I know we probably never will, but it would be so damn cool to get a follow up to Majora's Mask.
Twilight Princess is the idea Nintendo got from attempting a Majora's Mask sequel. So technically, Twilight Princess IS that follow up. As a matter in fact, the Hero's Shade IS the Hero Of Time as confirmed by Nintendo.
@@tehhypergamer963 Well, yeah, but I mean a game where we get to learn more about the mask itself would be really interesting.
Holy shit, this is beautiful.
Thank you!!!
No matter how many times people ask which is my favourite Zelda game, it’s Majora’s Mask. Of all the games, I feel like it’s had the most influence on the imaginations of fans, myself included, and has produced some amazing fan productions, and this continues that trend.
It's fun seeing all the fan art out there. I love all the theory videos out there too. I gobble it all up.
I kinda wish a third game would be released where Ganondorf gets free and finds the mask. Puts it on, but the mask has a crack and can't take full control. So both of Link's greatest enemies team up to take over/destroy the world.
How dare RUclips not recommend this sooner!? XD
This is totally rad, and would certainly make for an interesting setup, though I think the idea of the salesman just dropping the mask on the ground somewhere is kinda random.
On the chaotic, good, neutral and evil scale,
_he's a chaotic chaotic._
I wouldn't be surprised
I love Majora’s Mask. Favorite Zelda game of all time.
And this video is breathtaking.
I was not expecting a sequel video.
Yeah, Nintendo did that because they made the game in like a year and a half. OOT is 2nd to me right after MM
Well, they made the game in a very short period of time and it was part of the lore of Termina, that it’s sort of parallel to Hyrule. No one knows for sure how or why they’re connected, but there have been quite a few theories going around about it over the years
Absolutely amazing, I can feel the nostalgia from this 😩
I'm glad to hear it :) thank you!
Everything in this video is incredible. The music, animation and just general flow. Bravo

Awesome! This is the same guy/mask from the terrible fate video. AMAZING!!
Yup! Thanks!
This is the kind of shit I like. Truly constructive criticism.
This was revolutionary
You absolutely need to make more videos. This is so good
Can't imagine how long it took just to make the trees look good. Then add the wind blowing on each blade of grass, the mask's tendrils creeping along the tree roots, the camera angles... This is professional quality.
WHO ANIMATED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOD!?
Read the description
@@VeeOasis You're an idiot. R/woosh.
Agreed!
How dose this game not have a movie yet, what the hay Nintendo come on, please!
Can we have some people dress in high quality Majora's Mask/skull kid costumes, and run around slightly out of sight so we can have scarier alien sightings?
hmmmmmmmmmm
Wow the atmosphere is just as unsettling as the game, but more beautiful!
Perfect.
This melody, the Song of Healing sounds so… mournful…
Like the game itself it has its own heartbreaking atmosphere among its brethren.
You are very much welcome! It's in my top 5 favorite games. I looove this game.
This was an amazing short film of the Majora's Mask! The detail and the mood were off the charts!
THIS IS SO GOOD OH MY GOODNESS. I've heard you helped to make A Terrible Fate and this looks just as good as that!!! So proud of you!!!
Thank you! That was the goal! I wanted to make it look as nice 100% in 3d all by myself haha. It was a fun challenge.
This is so cool? Majora’s mask is my second favorite game! I love the amount of time and effort that you put into the animation of this!
My GOODNESS this definitely got my heart pounding!!! Nostalgia, terror, anticipation, and several other things made me shiver!!! Extremely well made!!!
Majora's mask was the very first videogame I ever played in my life. This game is part of me. Thank you very much for this!
My thought process during the video:
Ew, those worms are gross. Wait or are they tree roots?
Oh gross, definitely worms.
Why are the worms so long? Wtf
OH SHIIIITTTT THOSE AREN'T WORMS
Best reaction ever haha
Great video. Its awesome to see people giving Majora's Mask the love it deserves as a game. Not a lot of people like this game but it's a gem!! This video deserves more attention it is so good!
Very kind words! Thank you!
Who TF is down voting this? I mean honestly. What 200+ people went out of their way to downvote this. Makes zero sense. People just love to not like things. Gives them a false sense of power.
This is incredible dude. Watched it with amazement.

Majora's Mask has been and always will be my favorite Zelda. You did such a good job on this it's beautiful.
That's very kind of you. MM will always be my favorite too with OOT being right behind. I can beat both with my eyes closed probably
I wish this made into a movie now! Nintendo needs have it so that you can make this into a movie!
That would be a muuuuch bigger effort by a much bigger team. I did this one by myself haha. The Terrible Fate short film was done by a bigger team including myself.
Even though nothing really happened in this video, the tense atmosphere presented here had me on my seat the whole time. Well done.
Bro, this is brilliant. You deserve a lot more credit.
Kind of makes sense that evil would return to the mask, since it wasn't killed by the master sword.
Truu
This reminds me of the old “terrible fate” video from a few years ago
How did I miss this after 2 years

I'm happy you're seeing it now though!
The mask should have turned to the camera to look directly into our souls...
This makes me want a new Majora's Mask even more know.
I really liked the way the tendrils were made - looking like enormous earthworms, or veins, pulsing slightly as they moved, and most importantly constantly expanding, searching for something to consume...
Thank you! I'm glad you caught on to what I was implying with the tentacles :)
Please for the love of God make this a full cgi movie TAKE MY MONEY
There's still two separate timelines where Majora hasn't left the mask...
IMAGINE NINTENDO FANS MAKING GAMES LOOK BETTER THAN NINTENDO THEMSELVES 👀👀👀👀
Why can this genuinely be the start of a horror movie or something like that? It has such a genuinely unsettling atmosphere. This is really good, good job.
Thank you! I'd love to see a full horror movie for this. There's so much lore for messed up themes in this game to pull from.
Ngl, if a majoras mask film was made, it would be a horror film💀
*This was in my recommended, let’s go boys!! Anything Majora, I’m in, this was awesome*
WOOHOO!!! haha thanks!

Bellisimas cinemáticas: me imaginé una continuación del Majora's Mask... con esa calidad de gráficos!
But, then again, it would be interesting if Termina is different every time, like as if it's a mirror world created by the thoughts and memories of whoever visits it, creating some kind of Alice in Wonderland kind of place.
hyrule encyclopedia contradicts itself a lot, so i'd take that with a grain of salt. the devs themselves confirmed that termina is a real place
HUGE grain of salt. The Encyclopedia is generally considered non-canon. So far as I know, the Historia has the canon information.
Holy shit. I was kind of hoping there would be more, it looks so awesome. I feel like I could be right next to that mask. You did an incredible job.
This rendition of the song of healing is so beautiful. How do I get it!?

Is majority of this done within Unreal Engine? I've been thinking about trying to learn it to make videos just like this but everything I read made it seem like it's not a good thing to be making videos. This bit of art is fantastic!
The entire video is entirely recorded inside Unreal Engine 4 :) I used Adobe Premier to edit the video clips together.
I used Sequencer, which is a tool inside Unreal to do the camera movements. It was actually really easy. Unreal is great for making videos, it just takes a longer time to make environments or moving characters for the content you want to make.
I wish an actual hyper-realistic Majora’s Mask movie would be made...
