Skye trail part 5 - Last day, Blà Bheinn + Bonus footage

- It was all so familiar, I'd been here before in the winter before the PCT and things were getting emotional.
One of the best walks in Scotland and one of the best walks of my life. The Skye Trail takes you along the whole island in the Scottish Inner Hebrides archipelago. It's the last day and what a stunning day it is. Walking from my camp to Blà Bheinn and then slowly making my way back to Broadford. It was time to reflect on the trip.
BTW, I MADE THIS INCREDIBLE BIT OF GEAR

Loved this Skye Trail series... didn’t know how beautiful it was until now...
Hey thanks Darren! Glad you enjoyed it. Mate, before I went there for the first time I had no idea how stunning it was. Was amazed as soon as I drove over the bridge onto the island.
Congratulations on completing this stunning walk. You've been a mighty host. I trust you are suitably proud of not just the walk but this video series, edited with real flare and craft, and your choice of musical accompaniment is inspirational. I was pleased to see you use walking poles, they really are a boon- they effectively convert you into an honorary quadruped.. I walked a 750 mile pilgrimage from Canterbury to Iona in 2014 in my late 60s, I wouldn't have had the knees to finish this without the poles!!
Never watched your channel before lockdown but until I can return to the hills again, your vids have been an invaluable and absorbing distraction. Your channel content is very watchable , particularly the Skye Trail series. Your experience is evident throughout and your reviews helpful in the months to come. Well Done.
Thoroughly enjoyed this series mate and you gave the place the justice it deserves. Great narrative, drone shots, cinematics and honesty throughout. Looking forward to the next one once the world is sorted once more.
Great production value on this series. Well done. Love the trail overlay and mileage and clock effects
Fantastic images! Especially the first three minutes...
Watched the joblot with a couple of John Smiths tonight. Brilliantly flimed and so good to watch - many thanks
Absolutely epic very professional series cinema photography was very special 👍
Great mini series. Very watchable..well done!
What a great set of films of your great adventure, cheers 👍
Wow very very nice i love hiking adventures
Oh wow, you've just made me put this trail on my bucket list. Thank you!
Just watched all of your Skye videos back to back. Loved them! You took some really stunning footage and your video making skills are impressive. I would love to do the Skye Trail myself one day. Looks so beautiful there. I've been to nearby Eigg multiple times but never Skye.
Really enjoyed the video series. Looking forward to exploring your other content.
Very nice i real dug this dude good tunes and epic drone shots! But warm beer you savage...
Haha cheers dude! Ahh man yeah haha actually it wasn’t that warm! Was so freakin good. Glad you enjoyed that mate!
👍😁👍 Well that's me sorted for a trail in 2022.. Been watching the trail series of videos via my amazon firestick on my big flatscreen TV Wow it was Definatley epic.. I was supposed to be doing the WhW or Cumbria way in a week but suffered a bad back and trapped nerves in both arms so had to cancel.. But the Skye Trail looks a must do 👍👍👍 popped on my phone to click on the likes for all the vids for this series and others vids on your channel 😁
Epic location, Epic filming and a Epic journey! Thanks so much for sharing dude 🙏
well i waited for this one so i could binge the lot.. took some willpower but it was worth it! fabulous footage fella & loved your bits to camera.. great stuff!
Thanks for bringing some light into our lives, as I'm going through difficult times, as are many 🙏
Ahh thanks so much Lostandfound! Glad you enjoyed it and that’s why I love making the videos. Hope you’re all good!
Absolutely loved this series, new to your channel, but completely hooked. Stunning scenery, epic soundtrack and just sublime editing. Take a bow sir!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Steve. Really glad you enjoyed that and nice one for watching.
This was incredible to watch! Realy enjoyed it. Thanks
That was a great series, really well done, and excellent editing. Definitely worth a sub.
Just found your channel dude and loving the content! I did the Skye trail myself last summer. The trotternish ridge is a beast of a days hikings! 😍
Beautiful piece of work, thanks for being an inspiration!
Superb footage and very well edited. Stunning place where I've spent many a wet hour. Should finish the CWT this year then this one's next for a thruhike. Cheers.
Really enjoyed this series Russ. I know Skye well and have completed the Clac Glas to Blavan Traverse. Really appreciate the time and effort you put into these films. Top quality stuff. Well done for completing the trail too. Great job. ATB - Dave
Thanks so much Dave! Really glad you enjoyed that. I’ve totally fallen in love with Skye. That trail really helped me get to know the island. I’d love to return for some Munro bagging soon. I’ll make sure I bring my crampons next time haha.
@@thetrailhunter4469 you’re very welcome. I have a couple of videos on my channel, from Skye, if you fancy checking them out.
I visited Skye a long time ago before I got into hiking absolutely got to go back really enjoyed your trip atb daz
This series has been absolutely fantastic. I’m lucky enough to have family up there so I visit as often as I can. You’ve really done a cracking job at showing off the island, especially away from the tourist hotspots.
Hey! Great videos, really enjoyed them. Amazing scenery filmed amazingly.
Thanks so much Jonathan! Really means a lot. Glad to hear.
Nice series Russell. I enjoyed that and it brought back good memories of my hike. Subbed. 👍 Justin.
Absolute gorgeous series! I did the trail this past august and you summed up a skye trail experience beautifully. Always love seeing british thru-hikers showing off what the UK has got to offer!
What a fantastic end to your Skye trail series. Beautifully filmed as always and this trail is now on our to do list.
ATB Katie & Kev
Ahh thanks so much guys! Glad you enjoyed that. If you have any Q’s give me a shout any time. It’s an incredible trail for sure!
@@thetrailhunter4469 Thank you 😀
Oh man that drone footage at the end! Great series of a great walk!
Thanks so much Roowlant! Glad you enjoyed that.
Epic trip mate and thanks for taken us with you . Beautiful place , magical sceneries and can't wait to get there . Well done mate 👏 👍 👌
Ahh thanks Farid. Once again, super glad you enjoyed the series. Hope you’re good man.
@@thetrailhunter4469 No too bad mate, just waiting for this lockdown to be lifted to carry on with some hiking plans 😀. Hope you well and keeping safe
Ahh man yeah let’s hope it’s not too far away now. Yeah all good in the hood. Relaxing day today.
@@thetrailhunter4469 well deserved rest after the last trail, enjoy mate 👍
That was fucking rad dude, not just in landscape but in editing skills too + that slow Mo of your knees whilst walking made this a bafta worthy film 😉👌👍
Haha ahh thanks so much. Also, glad my knees are worthy of a bafta. Nice one!
Really loved these videos Skye is the most amazing place.
Thanks very much! Yeah ahh, it’s one of my favourite places on earth and I can’t wait to go back again soon for some Munro bagging.
Great production. The effects worked. Epic scenery in the amazing, closing sequence. Very enjoyable. Well done on making such a good series of videos.
You are the Man! Incredible journey so beautifully documented. Massive respect!
Thanks so much, Sean! So glad you enjoyed that and thanks for the kind words. More hikes to come soon!
One of the best Trail series I have seen! Great filming and editing. I will definitely walk this route some day!
Dude that was nothing short of epic! Looks like such a beautiful place. Hope to follow on your footsteps 🤙👌✌️
Thanks so much dude. Really glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully we’ll be able to head back up there soon in a group. I’d totally do it all again. Hope you’re good matey.
@@thetrailhunter4469 that’d be amazing
Apart from the million midges video, this is probably my fave video of the series! Great job Russ. Loved watching all the vids 👏🏼
Thanks so much Paula! Glad you enjoyed that. Ahh haha yeah those midges were insane. All the best. Russ
@@thetrailhunter4469 what’s the next project?
Fantastic series of vlogs Russ. The drone footage was something else, well done.
Thanks very much, Stan! Glad you enjoyed that.
Epic!!! Love the music, the drone shots and that last section of mini shots to music 🎵 was friggin awesome! I’ve so enjoyed this journey of yours Russ. Happy Hiking 🥾
Hey Julia! Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed that. Can’t wait to get up there again soon hopefully. Hope you’re all good. Loving your sunrise challenge! Keep it up!
@@thetrailhunter4469 I really wanted to see you open that can of beer after it fell over in the car!
Sunrise challenge - not much sun at the moment, but still going out every morning come rain or shine! When we get a sunrise its a special treat.
Amazing. Haha. When I’m travelling I like to get up for sunrise every day. I find it more difficult to when just in the normal routine. Worth changing it to habit for sure!
Another epic! 🐐
Another beautiful video and inspiring as always 🙏😊
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. 🤙🤙🤙
Beautifully Edited, a trail I hadn't considered before but it has just quickly become a priority for the next year
legendary , Really can't see why you don't start sending stuff round to TV channels especially with the added drone footage . Its really professional editing. To the two who thumbed down -- Theres a whole world outside your window try it besides Eastenders
Ahh fantastic thanks very much snd so glad you enjoyed that! Ahh yeah, it’s cool with me, thumbs down also help my videos rank higher so keep the thumbs down coming! If someone really doesn’t want to support the channel, they’re better off not interacting or watching at all. All the best! Russ.
What a fantastic series. Does anyone know what the music is at the very end of the video? Hauntingly beautiful 😊
Wow! Beautiful. Entire series was good
Thanks very much Kavitha!
This was banging 👌
Great film Russell. The music is so beautiful I almost forgot about the midges.
Ahh haha thanks Thomas! Really glad you enjoyed it. Haha yeah the midges weren’t as bad that day.
So so good. Are you considering doing the PCT or another American trail sometime this or next year?
What time of year do you recommend for this walk? I'd like to combine with a longer stay that includes the West Highland way as well. From Texas!
Great walk and videos. You left your car at the end of the trail. Is there a desiccated car park for the trail and how much is it. Really enjoyed watching your adventure. Atb Steve 👍
I love your malapropism, the desiccated car park, presumably a spelling corrector in overdrive as this wasn't the Sahara!!
Good vid . You seriously need to think about some orthopedic inlays though .
Cheers Damien. My Altras had about 500 miles on em after that and were nackered. Still crushed the miles though and didn’t really need any inlays. No issues 👍
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series of videos and the epic landscapes of Skye. It’s on my bucket list now although maybe outside of midge season - I think on balance I’ll take my chances with the weather rather than the wee beasties! PS how miserable do someone have to be to down vote this video?
Hey thanks Mike! Really glad you enjoyed that. Yeah for sure, the midges are fine as long as you setup camp quickly and have the right kit/clothing on you to keep em at bay. Haha lord knows. It’s fine though, both thumbs up and down help the video to rank higher. If someone truly dislikes a video, the best thing to do is to not hit a button or comment at all. I’ll get less in the rankings then. But feel free to if you do and want to support the channel! 👍
Weird question man but did you have to deal with many ticks on syke?
Hi mate, I've been lucky and never had a tic, (famous last words) Although, I do always carry a tic remover in my wallet. Midges and wind were the main concern there.
where do you get the Smart water bottles that work with the Sawyer all in one filter in the UK? Cheers
I got those Smart Water bottles on the PCT. ActiPH water bottles fit sawyer filters here in the UK and they’re just as slim. 👍

@@thetrailhunter4469 Epic!
@@nathanrichards9202 Yeah really good to find them! They sell them in Aldi I think.
What time of year was this please Russ? It’s defiantly gone on the list!
This was August, Jamie! Midge central. Just did the West Highland Way and no midges so worth trying early May to avoid those.
@@thetrailhunter4469 I did the WHW last August and didn’t find the midges too bad, they were there, but nothing like on this video. I guess it’s a balancing act between the weather, trying to ensure visibility for the views vs midges. I’d put up with the swarms for the views you experienced. As this one is mostly wild camping I think it’ll be less planning (I usually like to arrange my accommodation up front), and head off last minute based on a good weather outlook. Hadrians wall in a couple of weeks then i’ll look at this for July / August I think. Thanks for rundown on logistics as well, the map overview at the end of each day is hugely insightful. Thanks for the content.... stunning!
if you don't already, you need to start freelancing for tourism boards.
Ahh haha cheers! I’ll keep that in mind. You have any contacts?
@@thetrailhunter4469 Unfortunately not in that industry, mate. If you keep producing content like this, hopefully the almighty algorithm, will help you with that.
Which 2 arse holes gave it a thumbs down!? Didn’t your mothers teach you that if you don’t have anything good to say, say nothing at all?
Ahh man. Happens all the time. Currently got a weirdo going mad on my EBC videos named James Peters. I don’t actually think he’s watched any of the videos he’s commented on. I just ignore it and keep hiking and making more videos for people to enjoy. 👍👍👍
