Superb session, John, great seeing all the different species. The bull huss are such amazing creatures, that first one was absolutely stunning! 2 days left of Midland life, packing and skipping stuff like crazy! We are all buzzing to get down to the Cornish paradise.
Hi Pilz, quick question. The Midlands are all the "shire" counties, to the east the channel & North sea. To the west Wales. I'm a American and trying to understand the country of my heritage. The "Cornish paradise" means that it's a sportsman or fishing paradise? From what it sounds like your "home sick" for Cornwall and can't wait to return? I'm not sure what "packing and skipping stuff" means. I ask because I'm following (and enjoying) The Fish Locker and what to better understand. I think it was George Bernard Shaw who said, "Britain and America are two nations divided by a common language."
@@warrenjones376 Hi Warren. Yeah, so the Midlands, is just that, the middle lands of England. We were from Rugby, a market town in Warwickshire. The “Cornish paradise” is my families and my definition of Cornwall with regard to the rest of the UK. Cornwall is just a stunning place. It is an extremely popular holiday (vacation) destination, boasting some of the most picturesque places you'll see anywhere. The fishing is about the best you'll find in UK waters too! As for being homesick for Cornwall, we had holidayed here every year for the last 15 years, and always hated leaving, so decided we'd relocate! Packing and skipping stuff just meant packing stuff into boxes, etc, and skipping stuff was throwing stuff into the trash! Hope that helps.
Loved the huss, my favourite battered fish (no bones) and very tasty. Nice catch of eels too, it's a shame they are supposedly poor eating, or could you come up with a recipe and prove everyone wrong ?

Superb session, John, great seeing all the different species.
The bull huss are such amazing creatures, that first one was absolutely stunning!
2 days left of Midland life, packing and skipping stuff like crazy! We are all buzzing to get down to the Cornish paradise.
Counting the days then. 😬👍🏻
Hope that helps.
still watching, still great video's well done with those catches john, all the best to you n yours...GL&HAPPY FISHING.... Gordon
Thank you Gordon. 👍🏻🎣
Great stuff I love random fishing! You will sleep well after that session
Haha. My bones were shaking after all that swell all day. 🤣
Loved the huss, my favourite battered fish (no bones) and very tasty. Nice catch of eels too, it's a shame they are supposedly poor eating, or could you come up with a recipe and prove everyone wrong ?
Some fish are just not good eating fish. Conger eels are one of them. 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome video post 👍 very much appreciated and extremely enjoyable watching indeed. Big fish sharp teeth keep fingers away 🧐 as a Noobie iv learnt another new lesson 👍, thank you once again John and I will always mention a quick thank you for all the hours and effort in to each and every post🤝, thank you and all 🤝🇬🇧👨🏻🍳🦞
Thank you Glynn, as I say, not many people appreciate how much time it actually takes to produce one of these videos.
When are you coming to Australia. In specific Queensland and the great barrier reef and get amongst big fish. Your wife and children will love it. Regards Alan
I have been once before and we are planning to return. Just when James is a little older.
What a great session John, definitely made your effort’s worth while. Those bullhuss are such strong vicious things 🐟🎣🦈
Effort = Reward at this time of year mate.
@@TheFishLocker And making the most of the weather windows 💪🐟🎣🦈
It’s always amazing to see some of the colours of the fish in our waters.
Stunning fish aren’t they. 😊👍🏻🐟
Another great video. A mate of mine had a double figure Bull Huss by the tail. As he went to let it go, it twisted round and bit him right between his legs. Fortunately for him he had chest waders on…..
Haha. I have actually seen that happen before. 🤣
Non-stop action simply amazing the amount of fish and different species caught in this session + the educational commentary .
A gem of a video to watch. Thank you.
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed joining me. 😊👍🏻
Great video! Lots of action. Very entertaining. Thank you...
My pleasure Dan. 👍🏻
Great fishing ,and variety. I have never seen a jig like the one you were using at the start of video , but certainly worked...
They use them a lot in Australia and NZ for snapper. 👍🏻
Was late getting this John due to the weather & power cut, but here I am, thanks for a really good upload, what a smashing lot of different fish!! Best regards to Hannah, James, Jim & the shy one. Greetings from a wet Cyprus. 🐟🐟🐟🐟👍👍
Hardly late. The video hasn’t been up for 24 hours yet. I hope you guys are all ok with the weather. It’s horrible here.
@@TheFishLocker Late enough lovely, I put my alarm on for this, but power cuts, shoot. All is good here, thank you. UK weather, why you think I moved here, regards
4:52 "I'm gonna eat him .... ahhhhh"
Can you blame him John? :D
I would do the same thing. 🤣
Great John, super lessons we can all learn from, including boating skills, and top commentary
Great stuff ! Lovely sunrise, and a great mixed bag !
Thanks John 👍👍🏴
Cheers Phil. 😊👍🏻
Nice one John, great little spontaneous trip out, terrific amount of species, I’m sure you’ll be back out to that mark for that ling if you get the chance 😎👍🏼, efforts appreciated mate 🎣👍🏼
Aye mate, that’s a mark I will be returning to 😉
Yes Fresh water Roach are good at having a dump on you when you catch them
Haha. Yes they are. 🤣
Enjoyed the video. You definitely have your sea legs!
Haha. Yes it was a bit sloppy.
Great mixed bag John and well done for crushing the barbs on the Sabikis. Stay safe and tight lines.Mike.
Cheers Mike. 👍🏻🎣
I always learn something about fishing, boating or the ocean from all your videos. It's obvious you've been doing this all your life. Always looking forward to your next video, thanks.
Thank you, I am glad the information that we share is helpful to folks.
Great job ,best entertainment ever
Have to admit I wish you had put the octopus back, but great video😎.
If you don't mind me asking, why do you feel that way about octopus. And don't say Netflix.
@@TheFishLocker partly due to their cognitive capabilities and some irrational response in myself re how they look. We still have a lot to learn about them, hence filling in that void of knowledge with a presumption that they may have emotions etc.. Totally irrational on my part.
@@vidvidbiker not irrational at all. I have always said that I will respect someone’s point of view if they have a reason or argument that they have formulated themselves. Rather than because of a film they saw etc. 😉
Lovely Fishing!
Glad you enjoyed joining me bud. 👍🏻🎣
Try a drogue or a bucket over the stern when fishing at anchor down tide. That always helps to stop swinging across the wind. Great vid 👍🏻
Yeah, finish watching the video. 👍🏻
Love your video's. We have so poor fishing down here in the Netherlands... Little bit jalous 🥴 I am wondering what the name/branche is of this squid lure??
They do not make them any more of that specific colour. But they are made by explorer.
@@TheFishLocker found them. Thx!
John, I so love today's video! All the fish, all the species, and the ocean's views were beautiful! So happy you had a great day of fishing, but sorry you didn't get the ling.
Thanks for an enjoyable 33 minutes, much appreciated! My best to the family. Eagerly awaiting the next video!
Hello from the States.
Nancy it is my pleasure to share our adventures with you. Don’t worry about the Ling, I’ll get it next time. 😉
Great footage. your presentation style leaves me with the feeling that I was actually there too. Thank you.
I am glad that is how you feel mate. That is how I hope it feels. 😉👍🏻
I love tour vides. Sofee, so free. PS: I did live in VCrnwall for a time when I was a teenager.
Cool. Glad you like the videos.
In Australia, specifically Victoria, our species of Gurnard would send you to hospital with a single spike. We only handle them with really long pliers.
Wow!! It seems like everything over there wants to mess you up!! 🤣
Beautiful bright orange fish. Looks just like our U.S. East coast searobins, but with popping colors.
That’s exactly what they are. 👍🏻🎣
Brilliant video as always John, what happened to the big lad bull huss.. Heard you say you were putting it in the live bait locker unless I miss heard you..
I did return it I just must have missed it in the edit. 🤷🏻♂️
@@TheFishLocker no worries fella.. Keep the videos coming.. Brilliant and still can't make my mind up regarding getting a boat.. Not much up here to be honest solway hasn't much on the fish front.
Cute little Octopus!
😊👍🏻🐙
I always go by an old saying ,
A red morn is a fisherman's warn, a red night is a fisherman's delight ‼️
That’s not really true. I have had some of my best days on a Red morning.
