    Three eminent epidemiologists, namely Professors Sunetra Gupta of Oxford University, Jay Battacharya then of MIT (now of Stanford University), and another Professor from Stanford University, issued the Great Barrington Declaration in 2020 explaining exactly why economic and social lickdowns as enforced by the USA, UK and many other governments, were A VERY BAD IDEA, inflicting huge economic and psychological damage on most people, and educational damage on children and students.
    They explained why the lockdowns would provide no or next to no benefit in preventing the spread of Covid.
    Professor Battacharya is in the process of sueing the Federal Government of the United States for breaching the First Amendment of the American Constitution, namely by suppressing freedom of speech by ordering MSM and all electronic forms of media to ban the publucation or citation of anyone who questioned or argued against the lockdown policies.
    It should be remembered that Sweden, which had a 'light', semi-lockdown policy, did not have a worse pandemic than other countries.

    • @cherryseptember8697
      @cherryseptember8697 3 месяца назад

      Thank you for this. I fully agreed with the Great Barrington Declaration at the time and watched Alex Bellfield's channel a few times because I respected his stand against the enforced lockdowns. I was disappointed that so many people just went along with the Government like sheep and very few dared to speak up against the closing of schools, hospitals, universities, places of work etc and the problems and dangers this would likely cause. At least Alex Bellfield raised these issues on his channel and tried to discuss them... it is now becoming clear that those three eminent professors who bravely issued the Great Barrington Declaration (to the detriment of their careers) were right to challenge the role of lockdowns and to warn against the economic, educational and psychological damage it could lead to. We are suffering many negative effects now, for example, in lockdown's major contribution to the escalating rise in mental health problems suffered by the young., the significant decline in educational standards and in classroom behaviour etc. So I feel Alex Bellfield should be praised for speaking out on this.
      I didn't much care for other aspects of his channel. but that isn't to say there was anything particularly wrong or perhaps even unlawful, warranting a long prison sentence, I just felt he got obsessed on certain things. (Not that I disagreed with his assessment of the BBC and Jeremy Vine in particular but my response is to not watch MSM TV instead of getting obsessed about it). He probably had been treated badly by the BBC (as many others have) but I thought Alex Bellfield was dealing with it in the wrong way.
      I don't know anything about the allegation that he took thousands of pounds donated by sympathetic viewers to help him with a case against the BBC and the funds just disappeared, because I wasn't watching him at that point, so don't really know what to think.
      On the subject of his criminal conviction of on-line stalking , I think it was a big mistake to represent himself and also his sentence to over 5 years in prison seems very harsh, especially when you consider that some convicted rapists are given a lot less time in prison than this, a few even escaping jail altogether with suspended sentences and community orders.

    I do not know Mr. Belfield personally, but I was and am a fan of his. I found him to be informative, interesting and very entertaining. He had a unique style of presentation which appealed to me and many thousands of others and I am sure we all miss his Utube channel. Although his content could be a little over the top at times, I did not consider him a danger in anyway to the public in anyway. The way he was mistreated by the police who maliciously damaged his home unnecessarily. The judiciary was in my view vindictive and savage to the extreme, for what was described as online stalking. A new crime that was I believe made specifically for this case. I hope very much that, Mr. Belfield can recover from this experience and pick up the pieces and go back to broadcasting and continue The Voice of Reason!

    We'll never get to know 'EXACTLY' what he has suppsed to have done, and therefore it is so easy for the media to spin a narrative that he is this scary stalker guy. People should just use their sense, look and listen to the guy. I think he's innocent. These bollocks cases where some elitist judge who has no empathy with the public, uses his power to interpret the law (which is another piece of subjective legislation...and there is so much of this kind of shitty legislation around now " I feel harassed, alarmed and distressed, boo hoo.) and a decent member of society goes to prison, and guess what, he won't be raising his head above the pulpit again. Folk contributed willingly to a Fund for his "Legal Fees", myself included a few times. Some £300,000 + poured in. He had a Holiday in Benidorm & 2 in Las Vegas. Then came the Trial. He represented himself. In his posts on YT he never mentioned "Stalking". No mention of any exchange of Letters from "Victims'" Lawyers..... "....you proceed in stalking my client/s, this matter will be handed over to the Police/Dept. of Public Prosecutions for Criminal Proceedings against you." etc. etc.
    It all appeared to be a case of Letters, character assassination upon him & his Employment at BBC Leeds.
    There are the actions of his Local Force harassing him, unnecessary forcible entry to him home, unlawful seizure of his property & intimidating his Local Pub Landlady.
    It's going to be interesting when he's released & the restrictions the authorities place on him under Parole.
