As muslims is important we are honest and brother Mohammed hijab displayed and defended Islam in a beautiful manner in my opinion. He conveyed to an audience that mostly hasn’t heard the message truly before. I know brothers mentioned he should have mentioned tawheed more, please take in consideration the hikam needed in dawah. To speak on a level appropriate and in a way that is understandable to those receiving the dawah is highly important. Dr Jordan Peterson speaks in a certain Language that would need to be matched and I think brother Mohammed hijab not only spoke in that language but showed Islam isn’t afraid to and can answer any question no matter how or in what frame work it’s ask. Brother Mohammed hijab is a human like us with limitations and flaws but Alhamdulilah he presented Islam in my eyes Well.

To appreciate M.Hijab, We need to understand the topic at hand and the methodology of the discourse which is not only philosophical, historical, theological but logical in nature. The manner to which Islam should be communicated to person like JP is entirely different from others. Philosophers reason different and are more empirical in their reasoning.

I was so surprised when JP said he didn't grasp Islam. Truly jaw dropping because as you said its so simple but we should learn from that comment and emphasize how it's not a new religion. I feel people don't understand this. And I like to tell people the story of Adam and his children and how shaytan whispered to them and deviated humans (polytheism and different paths came about turning into deviant religions) and thats kinda where we are at today. Explain all prophets sent and encourage them to read the stories. Explain how Muhammed (peace be upon him) is the final Prophet in a long line from Adam and that the Quran is a miracle on earth because it's God's speech and guidance preserved (encourage them to read it) And remind people that we are now at the end of time where problems/corruption are predicted. This is our test living in this time and even atheism is something new. Explain to them about the jinn too. The fitnah in muslim lands is predicted, in fact it will get worse before Mahdi comes. Mohammed Hijab did a very good job answering most of Jordan questions. My attention was more on the question on why has Islamic nations not able to resolve their civil conflict? Mohammed pointed out that the prophet had predicted such conflicts but I was hoping he had expanded on it with the prophet predicting that Islam will be divided into many sects which is an indication of end times. Also, this process of event is inevitable being that Islam has given the laid down foundation to resolve such conflicts but other factors such as arrogance and pride, limited understanding and so on depending on which has stronger influence on each individuals will play a significant role.
Also, Jordan asked Mohammed that as a traditional muslim, wot garrantee that he doesn't impose is shortcoming (authoritatively) as an individual based on his limited understanding on other people (I.e family) in the name of religion? This question was very technical but I assure u is answerable. First of all, the Quran has made it clear that the truth is clear from falsehood. And the ones that is in-between (not clear) is better to be left alone. And this need to be done with being truthful to oneself. The prophet urge us to learn, read, seek for knowledge and endeavor to overcome our shortcomings. All this efforts we have been made to understand by the prophet have there own rewards. The further u break ur limitations the more ur rewards increases. These are motivators that allows limited us to strive in becoming better which will invariably bring about better judgement. Just as we all know that stealing is wrong, it is only normal to be assertive and firm to change a family member that takes robbery as a career.

@Ali Chaudhry I agree with a lot with what you said but i disagree about the part where you mentioned philosophy and religion, there are countless arguments that you can take from the quran that speak directly to the intellect and engage your brain without having to use philosophical jargon, the prophet pbuh is the example to follow on how to do dawah, philosophy did exist at his time and if he saw any good in it he would of called towards god using arguments from greek philosophers.
There are many leeways and counters to almost every philosophical argument, we have the word of god with us, so we should stick to that, you’d be surprised how much people (however intelligent they may be) love simple and direct explanations that speak to everybody.

I'm no scholar or anything but I would suggest focusing your conversations with your friends on monotheism and belief in prophet Muhammad.
B days and other holidays are not really a major part of the religion. Ultimately, Muslims follow the guidance of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and it is he who has informed us that there are 2 eids or days of celebration and these should be sufficient for us.
Birthdays is a bit of a grey area.
Hijab is ordained for women and men to protect their modesty. Hijab is also for men in that they should also maintain modesty and not wear skinny jeans or tank tops.

2:02 WHO IS GOD (ALLAH) IN ISLAM ?
Allah is the Arabic name of the sole Creator and Lord of all things. The Sole Provider, All-Seer, All-Knower, and All-Hearing, who by His Mercy and Majesty, blessed us with life, provided for us, and created us as one human family for the purpose of worshipping Him alone, which is in accordance with His infinite wisdom.
Allah says in the Holy Qur'an,
Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [Ayatul Kursi - The Throne Verse] Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 255
"His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. It is He who gives life and causes death and He is able to do all things. He is the First (nothing is before Him) and the Last (nothing is after Him), the Most High (nothing is above Him) and the One whom non can subsist without. And He is the All-Knower of everything. It is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then rose over the Throne (in a manner that befits His Majesty). " Surah Al-Hadid Verses 2-4
He is Allah-there is no God ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him: Knower of the seen and unseen. He is the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Grantor of Security, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Producer, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. Surah Al-Hashr Verses 22-24
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent." Surah Al-Ikhlas

As much as I really liked your responses to Jordan Peterson's enquiry, I do not appreciate that you completely removed Hijab's responses from the interview. Maybe name the video "My response to Jordan Peterson from his interview with Hijab". Man, you showed hijab like a total of a few seconds and you let your viewers hear only one statement from him when he did most of the talking in a 1 hour and a half interview! I understand that you disagree with his approach and many of his theological views (since he's not adhering to a salafi school of thought like yourself), but at least comment on his response from your perspective as well to maybe enlighten your viewers by commenting on where you found him not giving the best answers. Perhaps you could have split the video into two, respond to Jordan in the first half and comment on your disagreement with Hijab the second half. But completely removing Hijab from the picture is just odd. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of yours still, I just disagree with how you approached this video response. Jazak Allah khayr for the video and for your great efforts in Dawah.

@Quran and Sunnah I'm foolish? Sir, firstly, I would appreciate it if do not call me foolish, since manners is also a big deal in Islam. You want to make a point, make it with respect. Secondly, the prophet ﷺ said:
«لا يَشْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَنْ لا يَشْكُرُ النَّاسَ» (رواه أحمد وأبو داود والبخاري في الأدب المفرد وابن حبان والطيالسي، وهو حديث صحيح صححه العلامة الألباني).
"One who doesn't thank people doesn't thank Allah"
There's nothing wrong in giving credit to Hijab. Not to mention that his responses did show Islam very well, but in a short and controlled interview that required him to be as brief and to the point as he possibly could. I'm not saying that the whole point is to give credit, of course the point is - as you mentioned - to convey the correct message of Islam regardless of who is conveying it, but he is showing on his platform clips from a host interviewing a guest on his podcast and completely threw out the guest's responses which were very well articulated and only needed comment rather than deleting completely to replace them with his responses instead! I find that quit odd. I only wish he that he added his take - which all of his subscribers value - to give the interview more substance by commenting on Hijab's responses.

Couldn’t find the words to put it, but you did. This was very off-putting, the questions weren’t directed at Br Sajid, and it was a bad look to call it a response to the podcast when it actuality it was only a response to Jordan’s questions which were directed at Hijab. Hijab did all the work in putting this together, over a period of months, and it feels like plagiarism for Br Saajid to just utilize Jordan’s segment of the content to make these few points.
As much as I agree that Hijab didn’t exactly present our religious practices, pillars, etc, he still presented our theology and ontology quite well, all while remaining courteous and opening the opportunity to further discussion.
If Br Saajid’s purpose of this video was to address points that were lacking like the ones I mentioned, he could’ve more been explicit of that in his title and video.
At the end of the day, Allah knows best. I appreciate br Sajid and Hijab’s work and benefit from the both of them, these were just my thoughts regarding this particular video.

Excellent review. I like your answers to the intro to Islam too. I thought going to contingency type argument was an error.

Your summarization in the beginning was very straightforward and easy to understand, may Allah make it easier for every one of us to give Dawah in a proper manner.

Salam brother Saajid, Jazaka Allahu khairan for this review on this podcast. I like the fact that you turned this in a Dawah tool that educates people about Islam and you also invited other Muslims to do so. Mashaa Allah may Allah Ta’ala reward you with much Khair for that. Also with your Christian background thank you for highlighting the perspective of this so called intellectual’s questions about Islam.

So many good podcasts MashaAllah, Hijab, Ali Dawah, Saajid, Life Haqq, smile 2 jannah. Alhamdulillah the Dawah is growing and the du’at are nicely complementing each other. May Allah (swt) grant them success and guide us to support them (subscribe, share, comment, like, etc).

Thought "Islam" means surrender and not submission...why do so many people say it means peace, or submission?

Why is it you hardly mentioned the brother Mohammed Hijab? He did well in answering his questions whilst considering that most of JP’s audience are not Muslim or laymen and probably have very little or no knowledge of Islam so in depth explanations weren’t really necessary. Ajeeb. May Allah guide us all.

Because Hijab was embarrassing, simple as that.
