I was one of the ingnorant Muslims who watched his video and thought he wanted unity and peace. I didn't know what the Abraham accord was yet I enjoyed his video. I watched a tiktok later on and it was about a brother pointing his lies and I thought since peterson made a video that was a message to the Christians as well so I thought it was all fine. This is prime example of why we should truly seek knowledge. Thank you for making this video.

I converted to Islam and one influence that made me so interested was that the many Muslims I met had very upright character, they gave genuine good advice (Nasiha), and they modeled their beliefs in their daily lives. It was very insulting that he lectured Muslims on leading by example, as though Christians all others are superior in that.

So I'm really not sure how you came up with your statement, but what he's really trying to say is to be the leader of your own religion and bridge that gap, spread compassion to youngsters, and show them to not have a life filled with prejudice based on religion, which is something that youngsters of all faiths have against each other, since their minds are impressionable and malleable, so one bad encounter with a person of another faith, could lead to them thinking all people of that faith are bad, something that left-wing media followers live by, and something that Jordan rejects as a notion, and as a notion that is accepted by said followers.

I found this reaction vid to be quite interesting and I enjoyed the perspective, even though I watched it without being well-informed about Islam. Very well-spoken and reasonable points throughout. A couple of them were really surprising to me.
Also, from the perspective of a non-Muslim, I think the criticism about Jordan Peterson was fair. I agree that in his own video, he came across as…. I’m not exactly sure how to describe it... but in this reaction vid, the word “condescending” was used. I wouldn’t disagree with the choice of that adjective, but it doesn’t exactly capture how I perceived it. The most accurate way I could describe Peterson’s message is probably to say I thought it was poorly thought-out - and unfortunately so.
Generally speaking, I do consider Peterson to be an incredibly thoughtful person who is often able to provide unique insights. He’s often at his best when having a discussion with another person with a different point of view. In Peterson’s video here, I noticed that he appears to be reading a prepared message, which, to me, feels noticeably less authentic and less intuitive than I’d expect from him. He sounded like himself in terms of his language style and somewhat wandering explanations, but in terms of actual content, his message seemed out of character.
As was explained to me in this reaction video, Muslims were drawn to Peterson for his willingness to speak truth while pushing back confidently against what is false and wrong. That is what I’ve long admired about Peterson too. Peterson’s message to Muslims feels like it was written & then recorded the same day, or maybe the next day. I think it would have been wise if he had written it and then let it sit for a week, then picked it up again and re-read it. With the benefit of a bit of passing time, I think it’s likely that he himself would not have liked his own message.

I’m so glad I watched this. Thank you. I’m Catholic, and I watched Jordan’s video when he posted it. I know nothing about Islam. But I’ve watched him misinterpret or misrepresent Christianity before so I figured he was probably doing the same with Islam.
My thoughts on the whole thing are:
1. He’s not religious and he’s not a theologian, so, like you ultimately conclude, we can take his theological opinions with a grain of salt, though I do sincerely appreciate that he is bringing traditional religion back into popular consciousness.
2. Peterson is a cognitive behavioral therapist whose speciality is personality. So a lot of his recommendations (clean your room, write to a pen pal) are rooted in the strong evidence of behavior change psychology that helps people produce positive outcomes for themselves. So, these recommendations seem trivial but they actually are effective in practical life. Maybe just not relevant to theological issues.
3. Regarding the condescending tone, I honestly believe he’s not pinning the blame for the lack of “cooperation,” let’s call it, strictly on Muslims. I think he’d tell Jews and Christians the same thing. This video just happens to be directed at Muslims. But I could be wrong. I definitely felt the message was useful for all faiths, and I certainly didn’t take away from this that the divide is due to Muslims or that it’s the sole responsibility of Muslims for us to all communicate and understand.
Anyway, great job. I get that it’s frustrating. I attended one of his live debates with Harris where they debated Christianity, and it was painful. Watching two non-Christian, non-theologians debate Christianity…yikes!
But hey, at least they’re trying. This is what the journey to faith looks like. Peace be with you.

not 'believe in a book', we believe in God's word and know that He is the only way: our hearts
are 'stone' until we repent and believe that Christ died for our sins and God changes our hearts

It's possible you cannot feel the venom in his words and tone because you also do not understand the Muslim American experience.
This message was a complete disaster, and I'm truly shocked at what I can only identify to be the arrogance of JP to truthfully believe we are so enamoured with him that allows him to believe he can speak to us collectively in this way. Maybe he's believing his own hype, drinking his own koolaid. Maybe it's the DailyWire influence. I dont know. While I understand we all have to make our living somehow, the venom with which this message was delivered is not something I will soon forget. His messages prior were directed at humans at large; that worked because each individual could for themselves, identify themselves and those looking for advice could take it. This targeted message without the understanding of the history, context and Muslim experience just fails completely.
While we appreciated his stance on some topics we are in no way collectively looking to JP for guidance. He does not have the knowledge or authority to give guidance in this realm. If this was a general message to faith groups collectively (amended for the muslim targeting) then it may have been more tolerable and useful. But he is absolutely being ignorant and naive with this approach and commentary and it's quite unfortunate really.
Everything about this recording/performance just fails to inspire and deliver.

I'm a huge Jordon Petrson fan, have read his books and watched the majority of his podcasts. I have, like many others, found that what he said was how I felt, but more well articulated than I could have said it. That being said, when I watched his message to Muslims i cringed at both the words and the tone. I suspect as time goes by, when he reflects on it more, he will regret having made this statement and might even recant it. The overall tone of some of his latest podcasts concerning religion have me thinking that if they were the first videos I ever saw of his I likely wouldn't have bothered watching more.

I think he’s just fed up with all the venom out there. His tone is that of a person who is fighting an uphill battle to help people be better versions of themselves. He doesn’t like conflicts, he wants the world to avoid a Third World War, and other religious breakpoints. That being said i’m happy i watched this video to get another view that does explain the flaws of some his statements and ideas in a way that is respectful and i agree with even though i admire jordan peterson.

I’ve been following Dr Peterson for a few years now and there is a noticeable and sudden shift in his approach recently. This is just my theory but hear me out....... ever since he was banned from Twitter. The video he posted as a response was a angry Jordan. It was weird but i thought he would cool off and let it go as he should but no. And then around same time he joined Daily wire and his content has changed dramatically. It’s like he’s so fed up, he’s gone into attack mode making these new videos speaking out to groups as he is now doing.

This is a fools game that gets no one anywhere. The failings and wrong doings of groups in the past doesn't validate your own groups decisions. And you can just pass it around. Imagine how JP has a video directed towards the Jews and they respond "well. What about the Muslims, they did x y and z. Why arent you talking to them?" Sure maybe the Muslims did do those things but that doesn't mean the Jews now get to turn a blind eye to their own bad decisions.

I feel like he's just repeating the what's being dictated to him by the outlet that he recently joined which is the Daily Wire. I think many muslims often don't realize that we treat our religion as an identity.
Hence when people praise Islam we feel sense of "proud" as if it is us getting praised. You read a lot of this in comment section.

Actually when a well known figure says something many people just automatically assume that they're right, especially if he's never shown hostility before, so I guess that's why many didn't believe he was saying anything with malicious intent at first (I include myself) I've been following this man for a while, so my first reaction was "this video feels odd but he is positive to muslims so I don't think he means bad", it wasn't until I heard the critiques from other youtubers that I realized why it felt odd, I got easily swayed by his reputation and didn't realize what he said, I'll take it as a lesson to listen more carefuly next time

As a new Christian in America, I learned a lot from the Muslim faith from this video As well as many others. I had a lot of preconceptions but I’m happy to know that even though we do have many differences, there are many more similarities. I wish more people would focus on the similarities rather than fight and kill each other in the name of god.
