  • Starting to get into some more horsepower related mods, and decided to tackle the cooling first. Wanted to remove the heavy clutch driven fan from the water pump and replace with the Electric V-6 fan that comes on those trucks from the factory. It's a direct replacement, and while I did have to extend the wires for the plug it was a direct bolt on mod and everything worked out perfect. It will help free up some horsepower and let the engine spin up a little easier by removing some weight. Happy with the outcome, but there are a few things to keep in mind if you decided to do this upgrade I go over in the video. As always, thanks for watching, and consider subscribing. #ram #ram1500 #rammods #electricfan

The green ceramic coil is a resistor for a voltage drop for the two speed fan option.
3 terminals ,one is ground, one is straight 12 pass through (full speed), other is 12v through coil( slow speed) .
Most people will only use high speed ,but two speed is an option.

Thanks for that info and for watching! I wish I could cut mine on at a lower speed, have it tuned to cut on earlier than stock, but it's high speed and sounds like a hurricane. Cools it off quick though. The other cooling mod videos I did have helped keep it nice and cool and stable.

I used an Allen wrench. Put short end in pulley, long end to tensioner. I then used a large channel locks pliers to turn fan nut. Worked great.
There are two zip ties on that wiring. Look in that vertical grey support. Remove them and there’s enough slack.

Hey, thanks for those tips! I'm going to check on the wiring if I have to redo my connection. Thanks for watching!

Nice job.I did the electric fan in my two thousand seventeen ram laramie. But I didn't like the fluctuation in temperatures. I didn't change anything other than put the e.Fan in.
Maybe I'll try the 180 thermostat and see if that makes a difference

Thanks! I've removed the active grille shutters and that has seemed to help some on the fluctuation, especially at normal driving speeds. Working on that video now if you want to check back later. I've got the 180 degree thermostat ready to install, just have to find a minute to do it. Thinking that will help out even more. Thanks for watching!

Bro. Just received my fan. Passenger side mount is broken just like yours. Box wasn’t damaged. Did you jb weld it? Did it hold up? The broken peice was at the bottom of the box. Almost as if they knew it was broken and shipped it anyways! 🤦‍♂️

Man that sucks. Same exact thing with mine, no damage to box, but it was snapped off. I did JB weld it and should have let it dry longer, but was impatient since I had everything ripped apart already. But regardless it's still holding strong and haven't had an issue with that piece. Hope you get yours all fixed up or get you a replacement. Thanks for watching.

@@RaymondLamb amazon gave me a $50 partial refund. So l bought some jb welded it. Let it set for like an hour before install. Looks ok. The test will be if and when i remove it for any reason. Thanks for the video. Take care.
