I can't see any longevity in Duel Links without a skill rework. None of the old skills from the earlier years of the game have seen the light of day since forever, and the new ones all are 3 uninterruptible cards on their own. Either make everything broken or nothing, Konami, choose a lane.
Old skill shouldn't be usable, that's what powercreep means. Skill need to be stronger with time. I do agree that this kind of skill shouldn't exist. This one, the fleur one and the star seraph are prime examples.

Hero cards : shitty and bricky and extremely vulnerable to interruption Tri brigade cards : extremely good starters and many combo lines and one of the best interruptions in the tcg to this day

The most frustrating thing is that there's only a small handful of true offenders that if they just dealt with them I actually think the game would be in a fantastic place. I'm heavily in favor of good go second effects on skills but instantly deleting your opponent's board via stuff like predaplant or super poly has got to stop. You can't even plan around them because there's nothing you can do about them.
The problem is not making all these skills once per duel. If its once per duel then its fair. Like seraph can keep pooping monsters every turn and heros can pull a poly up their ass once per turn

@@XavierZara I understand, but I think that’s when deck building comes into play. I’m OK with skills like shaddoll, shiranui, spirit grasp, salamandra, even if Barian was once per duel then sure. But a lot of these skills are once per turn and they give you too many cards from outside your deck. It’s not best of three but master dual ranked if you bricked you lose if you don’t have the hand traps you lose I feel like it should be for Duel Links too. Don’t just make them win the game because they press a yellow button.
I’m so mad as a hero player, why give us a brain dead skill when you have so many hero cards that are more fair and don’t need to include armed dragons out of nowhere, like the destiny hero skill was pretty cool, just add poly and a special summon with Malicious, just let us play omni hero and be creative Konami, thanks for the video Loom!

I think as a general rule of thumb: Skills should at max have 2 effects. If a skill adds a card to your hand or plays a card to your field you should need to shuffle a card from your hand back in the deck.
I never thought in years that HERO would be a ''Tier 0'' in duel links this skill is insane, I went back to playing duel links and I just couldn't believe it, I hate Konami for doing this kind of thing instead of doing something healthy like for example, bringing Shadow Mist and cross crusader, absolute Zero, and making a balanced skill for the omni HERO deck, instead she thinks that HERO players are just fans of the anime and bring these bizarre things with monsters that would be impossible to summon normally through skills, I say this because in the TCG she has the same thought instead of doing something decent, it's always something anime fan and the supports are always bad/Mid...

Once they strarted making “summon from outside of your deck” a common skill, the skills went to shit. This hero skill has 2 of the best skill things of all time: direct add super poly and summon from deck. I think the basis for skills going forward should be “if this was a card, would it be remotely fair?”
I think a skill like that would be fine for unplayable decks to make them playable but there’s no reason to do this for decks that don’t need such extreme help
The only way this skill can be balanced is if they remove about half of the text from the skill and replace it with "once per duel", this entire skill looks like it was made by a 4 year old who just tossed in whatever they think looks cool with no thought whatsoever

Dragonmaid and Tri-Brigade aren't anime archetypes. They fall under the category of powerful OCG/ TCG original archetypes that eventually made their way to Duel Links. Elemental Hero and Crystal Beast are the anime archetypes that Rainbow Overdrive buffed.
Most depressing thing is that, there are cystal beast and armed dragon skills, that they just give you setup to summon their boss monsters, you still have to put in effort for them, they just help you. And then there's Jaden that goes "yellow button gimme me boss monster haha" Imagine the pain going through hell to summon Lv10 and Rainbow Dragon just to see them play it for free 'cause skill said so.
All skills should just be a "Once per duel" thing, which adds an extra skill to know when you use that skill. I swear facing Dragonic Contact or what ever the name is 3 times (in my case) is just nuts
Next skill : User : Kaiba Seto Name : as the president of Kaiba corporation 1: once per turn, when your oponent activates a card effect, take your deepest and most arrogant voice and declare this move invalid 2: when your oponent declares a direct attack, put Obelisk the tormentor from outside your deck to the top of your deck, then you can activate counter gate from the outside of your deck. During the turn you activate this effect, Obelisk the tormentor can activate its effect as if you tributed 2 Monsters. This effect can not be negated.
As Chazz: You must start from LV 3 Armed Dragon and evolve it to reach LV 10 As Chazz alt: You must discard a card from LV 3 Thunder Armed Dragon and evolve it to reach LV 10 As Jesse: You must have successfully 7 different monsters in your GY and Rainbow Dragon in your hand to Summon it As Yubel: You must add unsummoneable bricks of Yubel to destroy it (without losing timing) to reach its next evolutions As Jaden: What if we just press a yellow button?
And a hero structure deck coming soon too, konami tryna make bank from a broken skill onve again, and in a month or two limit those same cards people spent their $ on... I reckon DL's numbers dropped to a certain extent because of the release of Pokémon Pocket. Of course skill and box releases are planned some months in advance, but now that the game is in an awful state and has dangerous competitors, Konami really should consider a way to revolutionize DL and win back whatever fanbase it had lost. And the first step would undoubtedly be to cut out all the nonsense that plagues the skills.
The sad thing is that the new decks are genuinely good, Crystal Beasts can make an insane board, Dragonmaids are fun and quite strong, Invoked parasiting other decks like always and Tri-Brigade are just competent, and then we have hero, a deck that can be described as "Random Bullshit, go!"
It's amazing to me that people get annoyed how long text can be on Yugioh cards, so Konami's response is to not only ignore that, but also make texts for skills in this game just as insanely long. KISS rule Konami, KISS rule. Great thing to follow.
Not keeping it simple is literally the reason why players who play modern yugioh likes it, however... Every time yugioh (by Konami or the fans themselves)release anything simple as an alternate format, it's always responded with insults and with a "not like other girls" attitude.

It's just wrong. I'm doing nothing but running Buster Blader lock for this and the annoyance of Dragon Maids as long as there is ladder rewards. Then in my downtime, I'm running Crystal Beast who at least require IQ to put together and punish you for using your skill wrong.
i more or less dropped duel links during the tachyon meta and moved over to master duel, but still followed the meta updates out of curiousity. during that period, i don't think i've heard a single good thing about the meta. people hated tachyon, people hated shiranui, people hated fleur, people hated predaplant, people hated lyrilusc, people hated star seraph, and people continue to hate every meta hero variant. i also hear nothing about rush duels. maybe the game's just bad?
Rush Duels are more healthy and somehow balanced now due to the banlist, before that you could encounter people running the same powerful and annoying deck that was CAN:D

the worst part of this is when the ban list comes around, because of the skill we see limit 3, 2, 1 to hero cards awhile keeping skill intact or slap on wrist to it.
I remember when some people, including myself, were complaining about Destiny Draw because of how busted it is, then Konami did not do anything directly to it. Instead, they created busted skills, so people would not play DDraw anymore. They killed the skill, not because they nerfed it, they killed it by introducing more busted skills aka powercreep. Instead of nerfing these new broken skills, they are hitting the cards instead. This is why I am abusing predaplants. There are no other viable decks to play with the same power level. So, I will abuse it until Konami nerfs it. Sad state.
I'll give you some context. Had to drop Synchron, a deck I genuinely love to pieces because of the stuff we already had, moved to Synchro Magician, then Speedroid support happened letting Yusei contribute with Stardust Warrior, so I planned to main Speedroid until Synchron got something new that was worthwhile, planned to KOG and profile it. Dragonic Contact won't let me do that, so now I actively have to build this to get this abysmal toxic hellhole of a month over with. Think about that for a moment.
This is why I play a format called Normal/Normal with my friends. Rules: 1. All monsters must be normal monsters (extra deck is not normal!). 2. All Spells must be normal spells. 3. All traps must be normal traps. 4. All cards must be of N Rarity (rules 1-4 excludes cards gained from abilities). 5. You can have up to 3 copies of any card (even if it is limited). 6. All Skills is allowed
Yeah the new HERO skill is completely broken and I hope Konami nerfs it. To be fair, I'm not one that complains about new decks being strong (I mean I main Altergeists and that deck barely has half a skill going for it, with the best ones being Altergeist Overwrite, Level 5 Reload, or Avaricious Spellcraft), this new HERO skill ain't it chief. I'll list the problems with the HERO skill just so everyone can see how insanely unfair it is. 1. Free board wipe each turn → The skill cheats out a free Armed Dragon, which in of itself is already bad skill design. Armed Dragon, while being a very good boss monster, requires a LOT Of setup to get to the good Armed Dragon monsters so the skill cheating it out for no cost and turning it into either a free Raigeki (Armed Dragon Level 10) or a free card pop (Armed Dragon Thunder Level 10) is completely stupid. Did we not just consider Needle Ceiling too strong for the game by hitting it to a limit 3? Why are we bringing back full board wipes when Needle Ceiling is still hit? The Armed Dragon alone already forces out one of your opponent's interruptions, namely a backrow since to this day, backrow is still the main form of player interaction in Duel Links. So for the purposes of my explanation and to keep things simple, let's just focus on backrow. The Armed Dragon from the skill already consumed one of your opponent's backrow, but it gets worse. 2. Super Polymerization → Dragonic Contact searches the BEST board breaker in the game for no cost while also setting the Neos on your field, making Super Polymerization always live. Did we not just address Super Polymerization as being a problematic card in Predaplants? Why are we bringing Super Polymerization back for HEROES? I get it, Super Polymerization is a card played by Jaden in the anime, but there should be some hefty cost to searching it out instead of just adding it to your hand whenever you want. 3. Polymerization → Just for good measure, the skill also gives you Polymerization (from outside the deck), meaning you don't have to play it in a Fusion deck and can load up on searchers (Stratos), draw power (Liquid Soldier), or staples (limit 3 backrow/handtraps) instead. Or if not, you can use the Polymerization as discard fodder for Armed Dragon pops, which is stupid since Polymerization is a card played by Jaden in the anime. Discarding it for Armed Dragon pops is completely stupid. 4. Lack of answers → And then you figure out that nothing hard beats this deck except Non-Fusion Area or Droll & Lock Bird, both very obscure cards that do hit Dragonic Contact (and by extension Predaplants), but are completely useless if you aren't facing one of those decks. I'm not going to play Non-Fusion Area and lose to 18 Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc players in a row. So, yeah the new Dragonic HERO skill is completely broken in the amount of resources it generates and the Twitter post Loom showed is a testament to that. After expending THREE handtraps, The HERO player literally had ONE CARD in his hand, drew E Emergency Call for turn, and ended the turn with a full field just because the skill allows garbage like that to exist in Duel Links. For reference, here's the Twitter post that Loom was showcasing. x.com/mathnske/status/1875325751043747988 In the Twitter feed, mathnske is asking Konami why the Dragonic Contact skill can build a full field after three handtraps and one search off of Elemental Hero Stratos, which I honestly can't blame him for. It's a testament to how the game has devolved to YuGiOh Skill Links. I hate to say it, but if you aren't playing a deck that has a dedicated skill attached to it, you will struggle, especially now that the game's power level is currently at an all-time high. I also have a bit of an issue with Dragonmaids too because I don't think them getting the free Dragonmaid Downtime is fair, but that's a whole other can of worms. Dragonmaid Downtime is essentially backrow removal on a skill and in a game where backrow is the main form of player interaction, Dragonmaid forces a lot of non-games with the amount of advantage it generates and even more-so with Dragonmaid Downtime getting rid of the backrow in addition to the Dragonmaid Sheou omni negate, essentially meaning that's two thirds of your opponent's interruptions just gone. Alas, I feel like we've finally come to YuGiOh Skill Links where only decks that have broken skills can compete whereas every other deck that lacks a skill is currently either too weak to compete or completely unplayable, which is just sad to think about. Hopefully the next banlist addresses these problems and lowers the game's power level by a lot so other rogue decks can see the light of day and so the ladder isn't infested with Dragonic Contact HEROES and Dragonmaids. Invoked Shaddoll was also something I was looking forward to playing, but alas, HERO is just the better deck cause yellow button go brrrr.
I feel like skills in duel links have changed from "if we do this, we can make this anime deck competitive" to "every hand makes the same combo. Enjoy this until it gets banned next month in line with the new box"
Tbh when I first saw the new box I thought invoked shadoll was going to ruin the game. But then I quickly learned this abomination was on a league of its own. It doesn't just overshadow the new stuff, but the old ones as well. It feels like it took over the whole format in my opinion.
Meanwhile, we still have Spiral sitting around with a limit 2 still, no skill, 2 SRs and no one playing it. Literally just give us some kind of Umi consistency skill.
I hopped off duel links during the GX era, loving the game but busy and depressed, came back during link and cried at the fact that now my olden days format got ruined

I seriously have to play heroes in order to do well on the ladder. Ive used literally any other deck at the start of the year and went on the worst losing streak i have ever experienced in this game.
The only real reason I can think of that Heroes essentially won another free glue factory visit with skills and cards [At the time of this comment, Rainbow Neos is not even out yet, but is coming soon and will be given to players for free, which will just strengthen the deck even more] is because of the announcement of the GX Remaster coming in a few months to try and "hype it up" or something. If this new hero skill is going to be the "template" for some archetype skills going forward though then 2025 is going to be rough.
Duel links sucks for way more reasons than just that, but now they just made this format bassicaly advanced but with smaller field ig? Skills are a fun concept and stuff like draw sense dark or stuff like that (in my opinion) should have been the best options and not „add super poli, also you cant respond, also I draw 3 cards and rob your house”
I play Spirit Grasp, and can contend with pretty much every deck out there if I play correctly. Playing against the new hero skill is like playing against an SNK fighting game boss character. There's literally no way to win. This is the first skill in a very long time thats made me want to just turn the game off. I used to despise Battle Chronicle for the same reason, but compared to this fart sniffing degenerate skill, BC is easy mode.
The generic skills are not strong enough. There should be at least 1 generic skill that works for every strategy (fusion/ritual, monster type-focused) that feels strong.

Fr tho. The Dragonmaid skill is balanced and helps the deck SO MUCH but next to the new HERO skill its just stupid. With so many searches that deck already has, they just needed to slap the "you can normal summon hero normal monster or yubel monsters withot tributing." If they were gonna add the rainbow dragon or armed dragon stuff to it, make it that the skill ads it to our hand from deck, OR that it gives you normal poly outside from deck by showing RD or AD. Thats it, that wouldve been enough to make it good
When any other archetype gets great support: “Oh wow! This deck is top tier!! Everybody should play it!” When HEROES get better support: “NOOOOOOOO!!! HEROES SHOULD NEVER EVER BE A TOP DECK!! HOW COULD YOU KONAMI!!
I play sunavalon because I like how specter uses them. I wish they that Konami would create some support for it it needs protection from card effect and more ways to search loci
"This deck does everything instantly and you don't have a chance to respond" Yugioh as an entire game has been this ever since they added Xyz, if not Synchros. The writing was on the wall for me all the way back then that this game's power creep was astoundingly out of control and the game developers blatantly don't care how much they ruin it so long as people are willing to pay money for new instant-win cards to abuse, and dropped it. If you're not playing one of the top 3 meta decks, you might as well just lay your hand on your deck turn 1 if your opponent is. Balance does not exist. You CANNOT use the cards you actually like to use if you want to have any actual chance of playing the game now.
This new bullsh*t skill is probably a way to promote the new Hero SD and also probably the Yugioh GX Remaster. I don't have any other angles that will make this skill make sense. I thought the Predap skill was already BS. This new skill takes the cake.

Ive said it from the start, but none of these auto play skills are interesting... and I get that you should get something good if youre gonna get hard locked into a type, but that good thing can just be adding the rare of limited cards to deck. Getting your entire hero suite added to your ED would be incredible, an extra copy of some of the fusions would be great, a skill that auto plays the game for you is so boring
Any skill that adds super poly to hand should not be a thing. There’s a reason it was banned for so long and people want it banned again. Card literally win games if you can’t make a board that can survive through it which a majority of decks in duel links cannot due to just how the format is.
To be honest, there are a lot of decks that are so brain dead because of skills that I just refuse to even duel them outright because of the skills alone. Eternal bond because it literally just gives out free near unkillable boss monsters. Battle chronicle because ninety percent of the time it’s just some glue eater blue eyes player who’s entire turn is “normal dragon spirit of white, special alternative white dragon, search one of the two non-interruptible plus one destructions, win”. Hell, I’m a cydra main and even the cydra skill that LITERALLY GUARANTEES YOU SUMMON INFINITY doesn’t guarantee as many wins as these stupid glue eating decks guarantees.
Bro its like Tenpai Dragon in Duel links its so atrocious. Activate your 3 hts use your techs summon your Paidra/Chundra/Activate Kaimen/Summoning and just win lol. Instead of paidra just use stratos
This is totally fine for free to play duelist, if you're not ok about the skill, how can you describe having your Ace monster with no choice to negate by just a skill ( predaplant skill). This is what busted skill is. Predaplant without the skill is nothing.

duel links is virtually dead. i think some of us are still loggin in that game because we spend some bucks at some point and dont want to lose that small investment. they MUST create a PVP ladder with no "SKILLS", that will save the game.
Konami just need to release Heroes support like A Hero's Live or Shadow Mist to make Heroes good and still balance but no, they want to make money from cards that no one will ever played likes Armed Neos and those Heroes support that really good will be in Main Box or Selection Box with 1 card per Box

If there were a DL skill that did nothing but let you add IDP to your hand it would still seem kind of weak compared to these anime skill decks.

I never thought in years that HERO would be a ''Tier 0'' in duel links this skill is insane, I went back to playing duel links and I just couldn't believe it, I hate Konami for doing this kind of thing instead of doing something healthy like for example, bringing Shadow Mist and cross crusader, absolute Zero, and making a balanced skill for the omni HERO deck, instead she thinks that HERO players are just fans of the anime and bring these bizarre things with monsters that would be impossible to summon normally through skills, I say this because in the TCG she has the same thought instead of doing something decent, it's always something anime fan and the supports are always bad/Mid...

Once they strarted making “summon from outside of your deck” a common skill, the skills went to shit. This hero skill has 2 of the best skill things of all time: direct add super poly and summon from deck. I think the basis for skills going forward should be “if this was a card, would it be remotely fair?”
I think a skill like that would be fine for unplayable decks to make them playable but there’s no reason to do this for decks that don’t need such extreme help
The only way this skill can be balanced is if they remove about half of the text from the skill and replace it with "once per duel", this entire skill looks like it was made by a 4 year old who just tossed in whatever they think looks cool with no thought whatsoever

You look at this, and then you look at the dragonmaid skill. The dragonmaid skill feels like a butter knife and the hero skill feels like a bazooka

Dragonmaid and Tri-Brigade aren't anime archetypes. They fall under the category of powerful OCG/ TCG original archetypes that eventually made their way to Duel Links. Elemental Hero and Crystal Beast are the anime archetypes that Rainbow Overdrive buffed.
Most depressing thing is that, there are cystal beast and armed dragon skills, that they just give you setup to summon their boss monsters, you still have to put in effort for them, they just help you. And then there's Jaden that goes "yellow button gimme me boss monster haha"
Imagine the pain going through hell to summon Lv10 and Rainbow Dragon just to see them play it for free 'cause skill said so.
Lets be honest. The skills are what ruined this game and with thedirection its going, there is no saving it.
All skills should just be a "Once per duel" thing, which adds an extra skill to know when you use that skill.

I reckon DL's numbers dropped to a certain extent because of the release of Pokémon Pocket. Of course skill and box releases are planned some months in advance, but now that the game is in an awful state and has dangerous competitors, Konami really should consider a way to revolutionize DL and win back whatever fanbase it had lost. And the first step would undoubtedly be to cut out all the nonsense that plagues the skills.
The sad thing is that the new decks are genuinely good, Crystal Beasts can make an insane board, Dragonmaids are fun and quite strong, Invoked parasiting other decks like always and Tri-Brigade are just competent, and then we have hero, a deck that can be described as "Random Bullshit, go!"

It's amazing to me that people get annoyed how long text can be on Yugioh cards, so Konami's response is to not only ignore that, but also make texts for skills in this game just as insanely long.

Seriously wouldn't mind it if not for that giant slap in the face to those of us who have memorized what we had to do for our armed dragons in order to fairly get our boy up to his "blow up anything for free non-target'. It's just wrong. I'm doing nothing but running Buster Blader lock for this and the annoyance of Dragon Maids as long as there is ladder rewards. Then in my downtime, I'm running Crystal Beast who at least require IQ to put together and punish you for using your skill wrong.
i more or less dropped duel links during the tachyon meta and moved over to master duel, but still followed the meta updates out of curiousity. during that period, i don't think i've heard a single good thing about the meta. people hated tachyon, people hated shiranui, people hated fleur, people hated predaplant, people hated lyrilusc, people hated star seraph, and people continue to hate every meta hero variant. i also hear nothing about rush duels. maybe the game's just bad?
Rush Duels are more healthy and somehow balanced now due to the banlist, before that you could encounter people running the same powerful and annoying deck that was CAN:D

the worst part of this is when the ban list comes around, because of the skill we see limit 3, 2, 1 to hero cards awhile keeping skill intact or slap on wrist to it.
I remember when some people, including myself, were complaining about Destiny Draw because of how busted it is, then Konami did not do anything directly to it. Instead, they created busted skills, so people would not play DDraw anymore. They killed the skill, not because they nerfed it, they killed it by introducing more busted skills aka powercreep. Instead of nerfing these new broken skills, they are hitting the cards instead. This is why I am abusing predaplants. There are no other viable decks to play with the same power level. So, I will abuse it until Konami nerfs it. Sad state.
I'll give you some context. Had to drop Synchron, a deck I genuinely love to pieces because of the stuff we already had, moved to Synchro Magician, then Speedroid support happened letting Yusei contribute with Stardust Warrior, so I planned to main Speedroid until Synchron got something new that was worthwhile, planned to KOG and profile it. Dragonic Contact won't let me do that, so now I actively have to build this to get this abysmal toxic hellhole of a month over with. Think about that for a moment.
This is why I play a format called Normal/Normal with my friends.
Rules:
1. All monsters must be normal monsters (extra deck is not normal!).
2. All Spells must be normal spells.
3. All traps must be normal traps.
4. All cards must be of N Rarity (rules 1-4 excludes cards gained from abilities).
5. You can have up to 3 copies of any card (even if it is limited).
6. All Skills is allowed
It’s even crazier when you realize that Mako (from DM) STILL doesn’t have a skill for Legendary Fisherman or a good Umi skill.

Yeah the new HERO skill is completely broken and I hope Konami nerfs it. To be fair, I'm not one that complains about new decks being strong (I mean I main Altergeists and that deck barely has half a skill going for it, with the best ones being Altergeist Overwrite, Level 5 Reload, or Avaricious Spellcraft), this new HERO skill ain't it chief. I'll list the problems with the HERO skill just so everyone can see how insanely unfair it is.
1. Free board wipe each turn → The skill cheats out a free Armed Dragon, which in of itself is already bad skill design. Armed Dragon, while being a very good boss monster, requires a LOT Of setup to get to the good Armed Dragon monsters so the skill cheating it out for no cost and turning it into either a free Raigeki (Armed Dragon Level 10) or a free card pop (Armed Dragon Thunder Level 10) is completely stupid. Did we not just consider Needle Ceiling too strong for the game by hitting it to a limit 3? Why are we bringing back full board wipes when Needle Ceiling is still hit? The Armed Dragon alone already forces out one of your opponent's interruptions, namely a backrow since to this day, backrow is still the main form of player interaction in Duel Links. So for the purposes of my explanation and to keep things simple, let's just focus on backrow. The Armed Dragon from the skill already consumed one of your opponent's backrow, but it gets worse.
2. Super Polymerization → Dragonic Contact searches the BEST board breaker in the game for no cost while also setting the Neos on your field, making Super Polymerization always live. Did we not just address Super Polymerization as being a problematic card in Predaplants? Why are we bringing Super Polymerization back for HEROES? I get it, Super Polymerization is a card played by Jaden in the anime, but there should be some hefty cost to searching it out instead of just adding it to your hand whenever you want.
3. Polymerization → Just for good measure, the skill also gives you Polymerization (from outside the deck), meaning you don't have to play it in a Fusion deck and can load up on searchers (Stratos), draw power (Liquid Soldier), or staples (limit 3 backrow/handtraps) instead. Or if not, you can use the Polymerization as discard fodder for Armed Dragon pops, which is stupid since Polymerization is a card played by Jaden in the anime. Discarding it for Armed Dragon pops is completely stupid.
4. Lack of answers → And then you figure out that nothing hard beats this deck except Non-Fusion Area or Droll & Lock Bird, both very obscure cards that do hit Dragonic Contact (and by extension Predaplants), but are completely useless if you aren't facing one of those decks. I'm not going to play Non-Fusion Area and lose to 18 Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc players in a row.
So, yeah the new Dragonic HERO skill is completely broken in the amount of resources it generates and the Twitter post Loom showed is a testament to that. After expending THREE handtraps, The HERO player literally had ONE CARD in his hand, drew E Emergency Call for turn, and ended the turn with a full field just because the skill allows garbage like that to exist in Duel Links.

In the Twitter feed, mathnske is asking Konami why the Dragonic Contact skill can build a full field after three handtraps and one search off of Elemental Hero Stratos, which I honestly can't blame him for. It's a testament to how the game has devolved to YuGiOh Skill Links. I hate to say it, but if you aren't playing a deck that has a dedicated skill attached to it, you will struggle, especially now that the game's power level is currently at an all-time high.
I also have a bit of an issue with Dragonmaids too because I don't think them getting the free Dragonmaid Downtime is fair, but that's a whole other can of worms. Dragonmaid Downtime is essentially backrow removal on a skill and in a game where backrow is the main form of player interaction, Dragonmaid forces a lot of non-games with the amount of advantage it generates and even more-so with Dragonmaid Downtime getting rid of the backrow in addition to the Dragonmaid Sheou omni negate, essentially meaning that's two thirds of your opponent's interruptions just gone. Alas, I feel like we've finally come to YuGiOh Skill Links where only decks that have broken skills can compete whereas every other deck that lacks a skill is currently either too weak to compete or completely unplayable, which is just sad to think about. Hopefully the next banlist addresses these problems and lowers the game's power level by a lot so other rogue decks can see the light of day and so the ladder isn't infested with Dragonic Contact HEROES and Dragonmaids. Invoked Shaddoll was also something I was looking forward to playing, but alas, HERO is just the better deck cause yellow button go brrrr.

Tbh when I first saw the new box I thought invoked shadoll was going to ruin the game. But then I quickly learned this abomination was on a league of its own.
It doesn't just overshadow the new stuff, but the old ones as well. It feels like it took over the whole format in my opinion.

I seriously have to play heroes in order to do well on the ladder. Ive used literally any other deck at the start of the year and went on the worst losing streak i have ever experienced in this game.
The only real reason I can think of that Heroes essentially won another free glue factory visit with skills and cards [At the time of this comment, Rainbow Neos is not even out yet, but is coming soon and will be given to players for free, which will just strengthen the deck even more] is because of the announcement of the GX Remaster coming in a few months to try and "hype it up" or something. If this new hero skill is going to be the "template" for some archetype skills going forward though then 2025 is going to be rough.
Duel links sucks for way more reasons than just that, but now they just made this format bassicaly advanced but with smaller field ig? Skills are a fun concept and stuff like draw sense dark or stuff like that (in my opinion) should have been the best options and not „add super poli, also you cant respond, also I draw 3 cards and rob your house”
I play Spirit Grasp, and can contend with pretty much every deck out there if I play correctly. Playing against the new hero skill is like playing against an SNK fighting game boss character. There's literally no way to win. This is the first skill in a very long time thats made me want to just turn the game off. I used to despise Battle Chronicle for the same reason, but compared to this fart sniffing degenerate skill, BC is easy mode.
The generic skills are not strong enough. There should be at least 1 generic skill that works for every strategy (fusion/ritual, monster type-focused) that feels strong.
This is why Im Able to tolerate matter duel more than duel links. Cause the skills just end up playing the game for you

Fr tho. The Dragonmaid skill is balanced and helps the deck SO MUCH but next to the new HERO skill its just stupid. With so many searches that deck already has, they just needed to slap the "you can normal summon hero normal monster or yubel monsters withot tributing." If they were gonna add the rainbow dragon or armed dragon stuff to it, make it that the skill ads it to our hand from deck, OR that it gives you normal poly outside from deck by showing RD or AD. Thats it, that wouldve been enough to make it good

Yugioh as an entire game has been this ever since they added Xyz, if not Synchros. The writing was on the wall for me all the way back then that this game's power creep was astoundingly out of control and the game developers blatantly don't care how much they ruin it so long as people are willing to pay money for new instant-win cards to abuse, and dropped it. If you're not playing one of the top 3 meta decks, you might as well just lay your hand on your deck turn 1 if your opponent is. Balance does not exist. You CANNOT use the cards you actually like to use if you want to have any actual chance of playing the game now.
Also with this ftk burn shit with the new dragon draw skill I'm pretty done with the braindead press button get 6 cards from outside deck trash

This new bullsh*t skill is probably a way to promote the new Hero SD and also probably the Yugioh GX Remaster. I don't have any other angles that will make this skill make sense. I thought the Predap skill was already BS. This new skill takes the cake.

Ive said it from the start, but none of these auto play skills are interesting... and I get that you should get something good if youre gonna get hard locked into a type, but that good thing can just be adding the rare of limited cards to deck. Getting your entire hero suite added to your ED would be incredible, an extra copy of some of the fusions would be great, a skill that auto plays the game for you is so boring
Any skill that adds super poly to hand should not be a thing. There’s a reason it was banned for so long and people want it banned again. Card literally win games if you can’t make a board that can survive through it which a majority of decks in duel links cannot due to just how the format is.
To be honest, there are a lot of decks that are so brain dead because of skills that I just refuse to even duel them outright because of the skills alone. Eternal bond because it literally just gives out free near unkillable boss monsters. Battle chronicle because ninety percent of the time it’s just some glue eater blue eyes player who’s entire turn is “normal dragon spirit of white, special alternative white dragon, search one of the two non-interruptible plus one destructions, win”. Hell, I’m a cydra main and even the cydra skill that LITERALLY GUARANTEES YOU SUMMON INFINITY doesn’t guarantee as many wins as these stupid glue eating decks guarantees.

duel links is virtually dead. i think some of us are still loggin in that game because we spend some bucks at some point and dont want to lose that small investment. they MUST create a PVP ladder with no "SKILLS", that will save the game.
Konami just need to release Heroes support like A Hero's Live or Shadow Mist to make Heroes good and still balance but no, they want to make money from cards that no one will ever played likes Armed Neos and those Heroes support that really good will be in Main Box or Selection Box with 1 card per Box
Could be a Konami strategy to sell impermanence in the new selection box, either that or they simply are brain dead.
So we see some immediate issues: Once per duel needed, and Normal that Neos or anything else prior to Superpoly.
Now we need to wait until mid February to see if something happens with that deck (nothing ever happens)
